VII Recruits Vocalist, Working On Album

"It's been a while since we have posted any VII news... but we have some cool shit to tell you about. First and foremost, we would like to welcome Jud Ankrom to the VII family on vocals.
"Can't tell you how excited we are to add Jud to the lineup and when you hear him sing. We think you will feel the same way. We feel he will add a new dimension VII. He has a killer set of pipes and is a student and die hard fan of true metal... and a great dude. We couldn't ask for anything more.
"Another bit of news, we are in the middle of tracking a new full length album (titled 'Chronicus'). We look to release the album early summer but might be sharing a few teasers before then. The songs are shaping up nicely...this one is going to step a little further into our thrash roots and were pretty stoked about this one. We will keep you posted on progress."

First Fragment Reveals Album Details
Canadian neoclassical-influenced technical death metal unit First Fragment will release debut full-length, "Dasein," on May 20th via Unique Leader Records.
Captured at Humanoise Studios with Mathieu Marcotte (Augury, Humanoid) and mixed by Hugues Deslauriers (Augury, Defilementory, Vengeful etc.), the eleven track long player features guest appearances from current and former members of Spawn Of Possession, Obscura, Augury, Inferi, and Elderoth. The "Dasein" artwork was crafted by Sam Nelson (Incandescence, Wayfarer, Stoic Dissention).
Relays First Fragment guitarist/vocalist Phil Tougas: "While a lot of the material on this record dates back to between six and eleven years, it is still very fresh sounding. It's an unrelenting and over-the-top album, yet at the same time most of it remains catchy enough to stick in your head. Dasein should satisfy most people into the newer wave of extreme technical metal, but the exaggerated amount neoclassical metal/flamenco influences and non-stop guitar/bass soloing alone should please power metal fans as well."
1. Le Serment De Tsion
2. Dasein
3. L'entité
4. Émergence
5. Mordêtre Et Dénaissance
6. Prélude En Sol Dièse Mineur
7. Archétype

Gorguts Releasing New EP
Gorguts today announces a new EP, titled "Pleiades' Dust," which will be released by Season of Mist worldwide on May 13th. "Pleiades' Dust" runs as a single, continuous track that spans over 30 minutes.
A first excerpt, titled "Wandering Times," can be heard below. Regarding the album, Gorguts' Luc Lemay comments:
"As our EP 'Pleiades’ Dust' consists out of a single long narrative composition, it was not written with the intention of being edited in segments. As the storyline proceeds in chapters though, I was able to isolate this part called 'Wandering Times' which will give the listener a good idea of the composition aesthetics which are present throughout the whole piece.
"The lyrics tell the story of the 'House of Wisdom', which is referring to a library that was based in Baghdad sometime between the 8th and the 13th century. There much of the intellectual activity of the Middle Age took place while Europe was stuck in the Dark ages after the fall of Rome. Many scientific discoveries were made at the time such as algebra, optics, astronomy, and many more...
"Without the translation movement that brought this library to life, we would have never had the Renaissance that we know. It is a story about curiosity, beautiful minds and sadly, about how man destroys great discoveries and achievements." More...

70,000 Tons Of Metal, Day Three: "Its METAL Mon!"
Port day on the 2016 edition of the World’s Largest Metal Cruise! We made it into Falmouth, Jamaica at some time in the wee hours of the morning. This part of the cruise is a necessary element for a journalist, especially one trying to see as many shows as possible before collapsing from exhaustion. Since the day is usually enjoyed by fan and musician alike on shore and about the country, it means rest and relaxation for me until about 4pm – a time to recharge both the physical and mental batteries for the second half of the mayhem.
In similar fashion to last year, I skipped the part about getting off the boat. Unless there is a Mayan ruin like in Mexico a few years back, my interest in beach activities and touristy shops pales in comparison to resting and taking a few walks around the ship. This year I freed my shoulders from cameras and relaxed with breakfast before heading back to the room to do a little photo processing. The first show I would attend today would be Stratovarius’ second set on the pool deck. More...

Sunstorm Announces "Edge Of Tomorrow"
Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of Sunstorm's fourth album entitled "Edge of Tomorrow" on May 13th.
Sunstorm is Joe Lynn Turner's successful AOR/Melodic Rock project, something that came about for the first time in 2006 when Frontiers President Serafino Perugino wanted to dig up some unreleased gems that JLT wrote during the late 80's and early 90's.
The very good reviews and acclaim which surrounded the self-titled debut release was the fuel that ignited three more records, until the project was momentarily shelved when Joe started working on the Rated X supergroup with Tony Franklin and Carmine Appice.
After the release of the recent Rated X album, Joe wanted to go back to the more melodic material of Sunstorm, but also wanted to retain some of the harder edge, which the Rated X album had. So he asked producer and songwriter Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Edge of Forever) to come up with some new songs in that vein. Del Vecchio joined forces with Simone Mularoni, guitar player of Italian prog metallers DGM. Together they developed songs, which were exactly what Joe wanted, so it was a natural process to move forward and record another Sunstorm album. As usual, other songwriters, such as Soren Kronqvist and Daniel Palmqvist completed the array of individuals involved.
Joe Lynn Turner says: "This new Sunstorm album is the best of the series! We went harder... stronger... and heavier than ever before without losing the integrity of what the project is about...I call it Melodic Metal! The songs are very well crafted, the messages are profound, the performances amazing..and the sound is incredible! All involved can be very proud of such a great music. I urge anyone who loves great music to check out "Edge of Tomorrow", you won't be disappointed!"
The resulting album shows a slightly new direction for Sunstorm, which still features organic and very strong melodies as a trademark. Enjoy!
"Edge of Tomorrow" includes the following songs: Don't Walk Away From A Goodbye; Edge Of Tomorrow; Nothing Left To Say; Heart Of The Storm; The Sound Of Goodbye; The Darkness Of This Dawn; You Hold Me Down; Angel Eyes; Everything You've Got; Tangled In Blue; Burning Fire. More...
