Hammerdrone Releasing New Album
Canadian melodic death metal crew Hammerdrone today unveils the artwork for 2nd full-length album, "Dark Harvest."
Completed by Brazilian graphic artist Caio Caldas - best known for his work with U.K. power metal band, Dragonforce - the cover art depicts a sea landing by night of the Dark Harvest Commando, the obscure but real-life terrorist group who threatened the UK government with anthrax attacks in retaliation for the failed clean-up of a former biological weapons testing site in Scotland.
"Caio's execution of the cover art was uncanny," says Graham Harris, the band's vocalist. "I described what I was looking for, and he literally produced what I had previously sketched, but he had never seen! We're really proud to have worked with Caio on this album - he's a genuine talent."
You can follow the latest on Hammerdrone at Facebook here and the album will be released on March 24th, 2017 via Bandcamp. More...

Fearless Releases "Blood Sweat & Shine"
Hillbilly metal band Fearless from Vagnhärad, Sweden was founded by brothers Andy (drums) and Tobias (guitar) Forssander in 2012. The group subsequently brought on Michel Kolic (singer) and Martin Åberg (bass).
After spending some time with relatives in the deep south of the Louisiana bayou, the group learned the fine hillbilly art of how to make moonshine, fixin old rusty cars, fishing, and of course playing some music with the locals. The crew went back home to deliver a heavy mix of hard rock, metal, hardcore and a twist of blues.
Today the band unleashes new single "Blood Sweat & Shine" world wide, which can be heard below or over at Bandcamp here. More...

Rather than look backwards and merely attempt to relive the multi-platinum hard rock entity's storied origins, Jack Russell set his sights on the future. In December 2011, Jack Russell's Great White first bared its teeth.
Since its inception, the frontman welcomed back longtime bassist and friend Tony Montana - this time as a guitar player and keyboardist - along with lead guitarist Robby Lochner and drummer Dicki Fliszar. More...
Haken Re-Releasing Early Albums
On February 3rd, 2017, London-based progressive metal band Haken will release first two albums "Aquarius" and "Visions" as new remastered 2CD editions as well as on vinyl for the very first time.
Check out a remastered version of the "Streams" track taken from "Aquarius" below. Vocalist Ross Jennings commented on the releases:
"As advocates of the physical format and fellow record collectors, it seems almost criminal that our first two albums have never had a vinyl release until now, so we are thrilled to finally give these albums a fresh presentation on the format they deserve. We have taken this opportunity to polish the sound of our beloved concept albums without going back over every little detail and rewriting history.
"In essence we wanted to give these albums a chance to stand shoulder to shoulder in sonic quality with 'The Mountain' and 'Affinity.' In addition to this and due to popular demand, both releases will also be available again on CD with instrumental, or 'Karaoke' versions of every track. This release marks 10 years since we formed the band and started putting together our first demos so it's a perfect time to reflect on these releases and appreciate what we've achieved so far. Riverside Announces New Tour Dates
After recently announcing two special (and now completely sold out) comeback tribute shows in the band's hometown of Warsaw, Poland for February, prog group Riverside is delighted to announce a next European tour for April/May 2017. The band checked in to say
"2017 must be a better year. And we have to come back to life. But we won't, unless we come back to the stage... so it is our great pleasure to inform you that Riverside will go back to playing live this year.
"After two very special evenings in February, which, for obvious reasons, are going to be unique and one of a kind, we have planned two legs of a special 'Towards the Blue Horizon' tour. The first one will begin in April and May. The second one will start in the autumn and we'll visit more European countries.
"During 'Towards the Blue Horizon' tour we will play in a new live line-up with a guest guitarist who will make our music sound the way it should, not only because he's a great musician but, most of all, because he's got the kind of modesty and humility about him which has always been very important to us on stage. Additionally, we're going to present a lot of compositions which we have not played live before. Our concerts will also be filled with emotions we haven't felt before. Together with you, we want to dive into this and make each composition sound more mighty than ever. More...

Black Army Jacket Re-Issuing Albums
Magic Bullet Records prepares to plunder 2017 with a massive supply of brand new priority titles, as well as a list of killer reissues in celebration of the label's 20th anniversary. The first releases of the year-long gala have been announced as the label prepares to officially re-unleash Black Army Jacket's "222" album and "Closed Casket" compilation on streaming and digital platforms.
New York City's Black Army Jacket was one of the key players in the powerviolence movement of the 1990s. Featuring musicians that have played in such bands as Discordance Axis, Hope Collapse, Human Remains, Municipal Waste, and many more, BAJ specialized in a unique strain of grinding hardcore that was as memorable as it was relentless.
"222" is the proper Black Army Jacket full-length, originally recorded and released in 1999. Here, all sixteen tracks have now been remixed and remastered from their original tapes for maximum eardrum indulgence and abuse. Additionally, two previously unheard bonus tracks recorded at the same time as the album are now included in the program.
"Closed Casket" meanwhile is a fifty-song effort in collecting BAJ's various cassettes, 7"s, and splits in one convenient spot. Both efforts will see release on all digital platforms through Magic Bullet Records on February 22nd. More...

"Sadly due to reasons that are completely out of our control we will be unable to make it to Mexico next week with our pals in Beyond Creation.

"We'd advise other bands considering working with Sergio to proceed cautiously. This was completely out of our control. We apologize and hope to see our Mexican fans soon." More...

Modern Age Dying Streams "Age Of Regression"

Gene Hoglan Posts Strapping Young Lad Playthrough
Gene Hoglan's second DVD, "The Atomic Clock: The Clock Strikes Two," is due to be released on February 3rd, 2017 and will feature the Clock himself breaking down some of his favorite beats, telling stories and playing along with tracks from several of his most legendary projects, including Strapping Young Lad, Testament ,and Death.
In advance of next week's release, Hoglan is revealing what many extreme music fans may consider the most anticipated playthrough from the DVD, Strapping Young Lad's "Skeksis" from the Billboard-charting 2005 release, "Alien."
Gene Hoglan recalls the original "Skeksis" writing and recording sessions: "Devin [Townsend] and I wrote the tune in late summer, early fall of '04, at this shabby downtown Vancouver rehearsal space that kinda represented where we were both at mentally in our lives. I remember him mentioning that he'd love to have an 'Almighty PunchDrunk' (one of my all-time favorite bands whom I've also drummed for) feel and vibe to whatever was about to come out of us. To me, that meant to include, 'the PunchDrunk beat', which is this great, samba-esque, Latin-feel beat (that I am sure has a name, I'd love to know it) which PD proudly stole from the legendary Canadian band The Smalls. I'm sure you've all heard it a time or two.
"Dev and I played around the beat the whole song, getting closest to it in the chorus, then really sinking into it in the last minute or so, in the part I refer to as the 'girl fight' part, because that's what it sounds like Dev is saying there. It is such a fun beat to play, and a real satisfying denouement to the song. A moment of crowning glory to a ruling tune. The version on the new DVD is a completely re-envisioned mix, where the vocals and samples are absent, really bringing out the rhythm guitars and basic tracks." More...

Earthside Issues Cinematic New Music Video
Modern, progressive band Earthside has unleashed a brand new cinematic music video for "A Dream In Static," featuring Dan Tompkins (Tesseract, Skyharbor).
The song is the title track from the widely acclaimed debut album - The groups conceptual mission statement, is a story of purposeful sacrifice and existential yearning told across sweeping instrumental movements and adventurous vocal composition. Earthside entertain an ever-changing sound that is equally engrossing. alongside a work of cinematic art.
The video is a spellbinding and captivating explosion of cinematography that captures the true meaning behind the song.
Daniel Tompkins says this about working with Earthside on the track: "Earthside are a group of extremely talented and driven musicians. Working with them was nothing short of pleasure; they had a specific vision and definitely helped draw out some exciting tones in my vocal performance"
The clip was directed by Erez Bader of Silent Flight Productions (The Dear Hunter, The Contortionist).
Ben Shambrom says this about the song: "All four members of Earthside contributed significant compositional ideas to 'A Dream In Static', and the melodies and lyrics Dan so expertly delivers are also a reflection of that collaborative writing style, with three of the four of us also writing the vocal ideas as well.
"'A Dream In Static' seems to be one of the songs on the record that most immediately catches people and elicits a strong emotional response. Knowing this, we wanted to give the track and Daniel Tompkins' truly outstanding work on it the spotlight it deserved. The narrative video we crafted alongside director Erez Bader of Silent Flight Productions afforded us this opportunity and adds a new layer of depth and self-discovery to the song itself."
