Axis Enters The Studio

Axis has entered Bricktop Recording in Chicago to record a next full-length album with producer Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Exalt). The album will be released this year on Good Fight Music.

"We wanted these new songs to represent how we sound live and Andy is doing an amazing job of capturing that," says Axis drummer Tommy Cantwell.

Good Fight's Rick Barnhart states, "We began our relationship with Axis by putting out Show Your Greed, which was originally meant for another label and we were lucky enough to have fall in our laps. Show Your Greed was arguably one of the top releases in metal and hardcore of 2015, and definitely a personal favorite of ours, but we are excited to finally have Axis go in the studio to lay down a record that was meant for us. We were very pleased with the results that Exalt got with Andy Nelson so we are pumped to see what Axis leaves Bricktop with."

Axis' most recent release was a collaborative EP with Memphis band Seraph The Light, produced by Jon Nunez of Torche, which saw the two bands team up to write and record together as one eight-man supergroup. More...

Locust Leaves Releasing New Album

Coming from Greece, Locust Leaves has been an elusive entity for a very long time. “A Subtler Kind Of Light,” the band's first full-length album to be released professionally, is just the pinnacle of an underground trajectory spent far from the spotlights, cultivating an ecumenical vision of metal that along the years has spawned many quality recordings.

Featuring drummer Vorskaath (Zemial) and guitarist Ayloss (Spectral Lore), “A Subtler Kind Of Light” is graced by Nick K.'s passionate, spine-chilling vocal performance and by the talent of multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Helm, also author of the enigmatic album cover and inside artwork. More...

Rebel Wizard Re-Issuing "Triumph Of Gloom"

Negative metal act Rebel Wizard will reissue the maniacal sounds of the "Triumph Of Gloom" full-length via Prosthetic Records next month.

A creation from Australian musician NKSV, who's most well-known for his work with the black metal/noise group Nekrasov, Rebel Wizard's delivery is difficult to sum up with one simple label. While containing traces of black and thrash metal roots, with a touch of NWOBHM and the epicness of power metal, NKSV has coined the term "negative metal" to describe Rebel Wizard's unique output.

Negative metal, as defined by NKSV, is an, "anarchic alchemical process of outsider energies respecting the power of traditional triumphant metal into a unique sound to smash out the coerced gloom and banality of our times." The term is not meant to be construed with the sense of depression or nihilism, but instead to focus on self-negation, a doing away of limiting one's full potential by limiting oneself to a category or label.

The "Triumph Of Gloom" album, initially self-released by NKSV, will be reissued by Prosthetic Records on February 24th and will include a previously unheard bonus track, "Defenders Of The Gloom." More...

PH Announces New Album

Finnish group PH - formerly known as Mr. Peter Hayden - is back with new full-length offering "Eternal Hayden," which will be released through Svart Records on March 10th, 2017.

The release will be celebrated by a Scandinavian tour in March and the rest of Europe during the fall of this year. Today PH's new track "Reach" comes online and can be heard below.

"This album is all about letting go and achieving, reaching something more after giving up everything," comments the band. "It is a guide to spiritual growth, ascension, and overall progression towards freedom. At the same time, it is a pre-written vision coming true aptly depicting our journey as a band and a spiritual entity."

"The trilogy started as an experiment, but became an experience as we were caught within it," the band further explains on this latest offering in the PH discography. "In the end, it also become a guide for others to go through the same journey and to gain what we have gained. And only after reaching the archdimension were we able to write and perform this album. Also being born again, we felt obligated to simplify our name from 'Mr. Peter Hayden' to the PH monogram, which we have used as our insignia for over 15 years already." More...

Hexa Mera Unveils New Album

Belgian modern melodic death metal group Hexa Mera will release second full-length album, "Enlightenment," on March 31st. The album was recorded at Empyrean Studio, mixed at OceanSide Studio by Ace Zec, and mastered at Fascination Street Studios By Jens Bogren.

The artwork the follow-up to 2014’s “Human Entropy” album was created by Colin Marks from Rain Song Design and can be seen below. Hexa Mera also comments on the coming "Enlightenment" album:

"The idea to use the age of enlightenment as theme for this album was forged right after we released our debut album ‘Human Entropy.’ The world was and still is spinning out of control: Extremists became a larger threat to our civilization, human and animal rights are being violated, political correctness is censoring the truth, media focusing on sales instead of news value, and so much more…

"The world never was a utopic place, but with the information we got, it seemed to become worse. We felt fear, disappointment, but most of all, we felt anger. Because we felt powerless, the only thing we could do was to speak out, and this is exactly what this album is about." More...

Jasta And Code Orange To Support "Killthrax" Tour

Metalcore forefathers Killswitch Engage and thrash legends Anthrax announced in December that they will hit the road this spring to co-headline a 27-date North American tour, presented by SiriusXM. The bands' itinerary will also include an April 15 appearance at the Texas Independence Festival in Austin, as well as each band headlining two solo shows separate from the double bill.

With Anthrax and KsE rotating the closing slot over the course of the dates, the tour will hit the ground on March 29th in Montclair, NJ and then criss-cross the continent, wrapping up in Boston on May 7th. It was previously announced that The Devil Wears Prada will provide direct support on all dates, and now more openers are being revealed.

Multi-tasking Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta will perform solo as Jasta and open the first 10 shows of the tour - including the two Killswitch Engage headline shows that do not feature Anthrax. Pittsburgh's Code Orange, having just released "Forever," will open all of the dates thereafter. Code Orange jumps on the tour on April 11th.

"Anthrax and Killswitch will be a really good blend for fans," said Anthrax's Charlie Benante. "We both play metal, but we play two different forms of the genre. I think fans of both bands are in for a 'Total Explosion of the Senses.'" Added the band's Frank Bello, "This Anthrax/KSE tour is a powerful ball of energy ready to unleash the metal in the U.S." More...

Shibalba Signs With Agonia Records

Greek meditative dark trance/ambient/shamanic act Shibalba has signed a record deal with Agonia Records. The band is preparing to release a new studio album titled "Psychostasis - Death Of Khat" in April.

Shibalba's music is saturated with the mysticism of the East. It's richly detailed and multidimensional, while layered with chanting and broadly defined elements of traditional ritual and shamanic music. Apart from contemporary synths and guitar drones, the band makes use of bones and skulls as percussion instruments, Tibetan Horns, Tibetan Singing Bowls, bone & horne trumpets, Darbuka's (goblet drums) as well as ceremonial bells and gongs, to name a few.

The spirits behind the shamanic halls of Shibalba are Acherontas V.Priest, Aldra-Al-Melekh & Karl NE/Nachzehrer. The intent of their esoteric art is to "guide the subconsious of the individual to dream beyond the skin of matter & to dream in ecstasy and exult."

Shibalba commented: "?he secret society of Shibalba inaugurate the transparent alignment beyond death and the transcendence of the Higher Self. The conscious pneuma transposes the bridge among worlds to unite Now with Forever. Our physical vessel, our Khat, is only the conduit for the attainment of spiritual and intellectual enlightenment. Soul and intelligence does not reside in the estates of the everlasting. Divided we are at the death of Khat, before Psychostasis."

Metatrone Releases "Molokai" Video Clip

Italian metal act Metatrone issued a new video clip for the song "Molokai." The song is taken from the band's latest album "Eucharismetal," which is available through Rock Shots Records.

The band commented on "Molokai": "This song is one of the strongest from 'Eucharismetal' album, the anger you can find comes out from the will against religious fanatism of any catholic fringe which could be considered as pure secret societies where the person is set apart. So it ends to create a "creed" which lives for itself, breaking up human relationships."

Gojira, Nile Drop Off 70,000 Tons Of Metal Roster

Just a week before the seventh installment of 70,000 Tons of Metal shoves off from Port Everglades, Florida bound for Labadee, Haiti - UMC promoter Andy announced that Gojira and Nile were forced from the roster. This brings the total bands to 57, with one and two replacement acts left to be revealed.

The announcement reads: "Sailors! This is your Skipper speaking. Unfortunately, I have some bad news to share with you.

"Gojira will not be joining us on board next week. This is due to a serious medical issue of a very close family member that requires them to get back home at a moment's notice should the situation get worse. This is possible while they are on tour in their home country, but not while they are on a ship at Sea at the other end of the world. I am sure I speak for all of us when I send this message to France: Nous souhaitons de tout cœur beaucoup de force et de confiance, ainsi qu'un bon rétablissement!

"If that was not enough bad news, there's more. We will also be sailing without Nile. The situation there is that their new bass player will not receive his visa in time for the cruise. Normally he would not need one if they would only play the cruise, but since they are also going on tour in the US right afterwards he unfortunately needs a US work visa. Together with their management I tried to move heaven and earth to make this happen but at this point we are simply out of time.

"Trust me that I am as frustrated as all of you about this situation. I am working around the clock to fill this gap it has created in our line-up.

"I will make sure that we have adequate replacements on board 70,000 Tons of Metal, The Original, The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise. Stay tuned!"

Inglorious To Release "Inglorious II"

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the second Inglorious album - "Inglorious II" - on May 12, 2017! The band has also announced new guitar player, who you can meet in the video below!

September 2016 saw Inglorious base itself in Liverpool to work on the follow up to the 2016 eponymous debut album. Produced by the band and mixed by the legendary Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith), this new album is set to further enhance the standing of this remarkable band. From the body blow riffs of "Read All About It," to the beautiful melodies of upcoming first single "I Don't Need Your Loving", from the groove of "High Class Woman" to the classic feeling ballad "Making Me Pay", this is an album that shows the bands influences stem from iconic rock and roll shrine of rock albums from the 1970s - many years before the band members were born - merged with a truly contemporary feel. Driving riffs and instant melodies all overlaid with the unique and powerful vocals of Nathan James.

Nathan James on "Inglorious II": "It came together very organically after spending time touring together and felt great. We knew we were making an album this time too! We focused on getting our sounds just right so we could get into the studio and out in the least time possible. Between Adde's flat in Malmö, Sweden and Colin's family home in Somerset, England, this album came together quickly. We spent three weekends in Somerset, writing in a kind of 9-5 fashion, whereby we knew we were at work. Then after a lovely home cooked dinner we would relax, have a few beers and balance out our hard work, the environment is so important to be creative and we had it good!" More...
