Reality Slap Posts "Haymaker"

Portuguese hardcore outfit Reality Slap has released a video for "Haymaker" below, taken off the "Limitless" EP set for release this Friday the 13th through War Records, the label founded by Andrew Kline of Strife.

Combining the best of old-school aggression with a modern hardcore vibe, Reality Slap's songs are full of tight riffs, heavy grooves, and always pack a massive punch. Issues Reality Slap of the new single:

"'Haymaker' is a metaphoric punch to human attitude towards life and other beings. It's really a call out to everyone who chooses not to feel, who chooses to ignore what's going on around them because they're too entertained and blinded by all the material shit that's put in front of them. We still want to feel and we still want to see, that's life, connection is key, there's more life beyond. We can always do better and find a better narrative to address problems and life itself. We choose not to ignore by approaching life with a smile and against human numbness." More...

Striker Releasing New Album

There's no time wasted when it comes to Canadian metal group Striker. In 2016, the band unleashed award-winning fourth album "Stand In The Fire" via independent label Record Breaking Records.

"This is our no bullshit album. We cut out everything that wasn't absolutely necessary and kept everything short and to the point. We pray at the altar of heavy metal everyday, and there are some musical ideas that persist through time and some that don't. We focused in on what keeps listeners coming back and got rid of everything else. You can't climb Mount Everest dragging any useless shit with you; if you want to make it to the top, only bring with you what is absolutely necessary: Lethal Amounts of Shred." More...

Aleah To Release Posthumous Solo Album

Trees Of Eternity was nominated as one of the best metal newcomers of the year in 2016 with debut album "Hour Of The Nightingale" (reviewed here).

Since the passing of vocalist Aleah, the future of the band has been uncertain. Today Juha Raivio issued this update about using more of Aleah's lyrics for a future release:

"I finally got my own copy of the Trees of Eternity album. There is no words to tell how proud and painful it feels to hold this album in my hands.. To get this album out has been one of the few reasons to wake up in the morning, and once more I want to thank everyone who have been part on making and releasing this album.

"And thank you from the very depths of my heart to all of you who have bought the album so far, shared the music and have send your love and support. It’s been heartfelt to read the messages and stories what these songs and words have meant to so many people around the world.

"Just to let you know now, I have been working on Aleah’s words and poems during this blackest of winters and hopefully I can let you know more about this very soon. I'm very proud of it. And yes I am also working on Aleah’s solo album slowly and will continue with it as soon as I just emotionally and personally can. I won't let you down.

"Thank you everyone who loved and loves Aleah. Keep on carrying the flame of our Queen Nightingale." More...

Wintersun Comments On New Album And "Time II"

It's time for another "Time" rant from Jari Mäenpää of Wintersun! After announcing a new album is coming that won't be "Time II," Jari issued this update to fans:

"Little addendum to clear some confusion about 'Time II...'

"'Time II' was already recorded the same time as 'Time I,' but the mixing of Time II came to a halt in 2014 when I realised that I could not finish the album with my resources. The album is just too big and I will not compromise and release it prematurely like I had to do with 'Time I.'

"'Time I' and 'Time II' are huge and just insane projects. They are big budget albums that I should have not probably even started working on at that point in my career. But at that time, I had a vision for those albums and that was the only music I wanted to make. So despite the lack of funding, I wanted to challenge myself and I started working on those albums with what I had...

"There were lots of technical problems and other obstacles along the way and those problems could have been solved or avoided with proper resources. Somehow I still managed to pull off at least something close to my vision for 'Time I.' I had to use time to compensate for the lack of funding and overcome the technical issues. You can literally buy money with time and buy time with money. Money = time = money. I wasn't 100% happy with the result, but the pressure was just too high to release 'Time I' and get the ball rolling. That won't happen again. 'Time II' will not be finished until I have the proper resources for it, but hopefully soon that's about to change! ;) More...

Alestorm Temporarily Docks To Record New Album

Scottish pirates Alestorm have put the ship into dry dock while they offload the latest booty and record the upcoming new album "No Grave But the Sea." The album is the follow up to the 2014 album "Sunset on the Golden Age" (see review here).

The band commented: "Ahoy humans! We are very thrilled to announce that we have entered the studio to record our fifth full-length album, entitled 'No Grave But The Sea!'

"We will be spending the next month at Alpaca Ranch Recording Studio in Orlando, USA, with producer Lasse Lammert once again at the helm. This will also be the first full release featuring our grandiose guitarist Máté Bodor!

"This is the point where we would usually tell you this album is going to be darker and heavier than our previous works, but that's probably not true. It is, however, full of epic songs about pirates, drinking, and pseudoscientific cryptogeography.

"We'll have a bunch more updates for you over the coming weeks and months, including the album cover, track list, release dates, and more!"

Stay tuned for more information. More...

KXM Announces New Album "Scatterbrain"

"Scatterbrain" is currently available for pre-order via the Rat Pak Records website in various bundles including signed CD’s and t-shirts at this location. KXM is comprised of dUg Pinnick of King’s X on vocals/bass, George Lynch of Lynch Mob/Dokken on guitars and Ray Luzier, of Korn on drums. "Scatterbrain" features 13 brand new tracks and was recorded at the Steakhouse studio in North Hollywood California. The album was produced by Chris “The Wizard” Collier (Flotsam & Jetsam/Prong/Last In Line) who also produced the band’s 2014 debut.

From the infectious riff of the album opener “Scatterbrain” to the outro of “Angel,” KXM has created something truly special and musically diverse. Songs like “Breakout,” “Calypso,” and “True Deceivers” are sonically different from each other taking the listener on a musical journey. "Scatterbrain" is thematically a darker record than the debut. The album builds upon the developed KXM rock sound but this time includes some different dynamics drawing inspiration from prog, ska, punk and metal. Through it all, it remains undeniably KXM. Demonic Resurrection Announce New Album Details

Indian Metal veterans Demonic Resurrection has announced the upcoming new release "Dashavatar," the band's fifth full length album. The album title translates to "the ten avatars of Vishnu," who is the god of preservation in Hindu mythology. The album is scheduled to be releases on March 15th independently by the band.

The band's vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Demonstealer comments: "Our previous album 'The Demon King' was born from the idea of writing about 'Ravan' who is a demon king from Hindu mythology and while we wrote our own story from scratch it did kind of set the tone of where we want to go from there. My fiance was the one who told me the rather gruesome tale of Narasimha the 'man-lion' avatar of Vishnu which really made me look at mythology rather differently and it made for a great idea to write a song about each of the avatars of Vishnu, since they were very interesting stories. It was pretty obvious then that the album had to be called 'Dashavatar.'"

The artwork (shown below) was created by Indian artist Reuben Bhattacharya (Visual Amnesia) who explains it in more detail: "Ten ancient gods in one and the band's most death metal sounding album, it had epic written all over it. So when Sahil got in touch with me with the brilliant idea of Dashavatar, i just had to give life to this vision. Since the idea itself of India's premier metal band doing something from Indian mythology itself is a polarizing one, I had a dual responsibility to create a Vishnu that hadn't been seen before and one that was demonical and true to the band's legacy as well.
