"Underground Inc." Trailer Posted

It was the early 90's - seemingly out of nowhere, a little grunge band called Nirvana began outselling massive commercial artists like Michael Jackson. This immediately caught the attention of the giant record companies. These small underground bands branded as alternative or post-punk went from being inconsequential to being potential behemoths in record sales - and the hunt began.

Hungrily sweeping for the next Nirvana, a buying frenzy ensued as small indie labels were bought out by the commercial labels on a never before seen scale. A&R execs would see random alt-rock bands perform in a bar and appear after their set offering unheard of financial offers and immediate global exposure. It seemed these band members were set for life - so what happened?

Verity is revealed in "Underground Inc: The Unsung Story of Alternative Rock," an upcoming documentary destined to be the ultimate look at the alternative punk and metal scene in the 90's, and a must see for serious music lovers. Told by the artists who pioneered a sonic subculture, this feature-length documentary tells the real story of the 90's - exposing viewers to an amazing catalog of the era's rarities and buried treasures, while re-living the struggles, triumphs and tragedies, as well as the debauchery.

"Underground Inc." features interviews with members of White Zombie, Queens Of The Stone Age, Primus, Bad Religion, Stone Sour, Clutch, Red Fang, Failure, Ministry, Quicksand, Helmet, Steve Albini, Sepultura and dozens more. More...

Malacoda Posts New Video

Canadian horror inspired symphonic power metallers Malacoda released a new six track EP titled "Ritualis Aeterna" this past December. Today the band also drops a music video for "There Will Always Be One," which captures Malacoda's time in-studio recording "Ritualis Aeterna."

Vocalist Lucas Di Mascio comments: "'There Will Always Be One' is probably our thrashiest track. This song has a lot of anger behind it, and it's dedicated to those who have gotten in the way of the band and made our journey more difficult. Trust me- it's not an honor to have us write a song about you!" More...

From Inside Posts "Be Yourself" Video

From Inside just released a second single from “The Era New,” recorded by Drew Lawson at Steel City Studios in England. The studio has previously seen the likes of Bring Me The Horizon and While She Sleeps. Check out new video "Be Yourself" below, and the band also comments:

“‘Be Yourself’ was born out of the frustration of empathy. As a band and as people, we’ve experienced our fair share of problems that life throws at you. Sadly, you’ll notice that the people who claim that they are there for you never are when you need them most and all that pain & anger you feel goes completely unnoticed; so long as life is peachy in their eyes then nothing else matters. That’s exactly it.

"You need to focus on your own wellbeing in the end and don’t let anyone live your life for you. You need to bury all that negativity, drag yourself up out of the dirt and realize you need to 'Be yourself, but for no one else.' A good mantra for living your life I guess. Obviously we are all metalheads here so we don’t need to worry about not “being ourselves” as that way of life is written in our blood, but it’s nice to be reminded and to have a catchy as balls song to remind you of that fact.”

Brace yourself for impending EP "The New Era" coming on Friday, January 13th, 2017. More...

Last month the band unveiled episode 1 in a series of studio video episodes, which go behind the scenes with the band at Atrium Audio with Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland. Today, Lorna Shore has released the second installment of the series "Flesh Coffin Episode 2: Instrument Tracking." This is what guitarist Adam De Micco had to say:

"With each record that we write we always strive to push ourselves beyond our capabilities. Whether it be on a technical aspect to our perspective on songwriting. We never want to write the same record and we don't want our fans to expect or accept a carbon copy of past releases.

"We will consistently do what it is that we want to do and Flesh Coffin is no exception to that. In this episode you can see the growth of individual members as well as our ever growing vision of this band. With this episode we hope you gain a little insight into how Flesh Coffin came to be." Pyrrhon To Release New Album

Experimental new York death metal band Pyrrhon (pronounced "peer-on”) has partnered up with Willowtip Records (North America) and Throatruiner (Europe) to release new material. Vocalist Doug Moore comments:

"We're absolutely thrilled to be working with these two fantastic labels, as clichéd as that might be. Willowtip has been the foremost name in weirdo death metal mutations since we were all in middle school, and Throatruiner has become one of the world's best purveyors of unclassifiable heaviness in recent years. Both have released work by many past and current band favorites, and we look forward to delivering our strongest work yet (another cliché, but true!) amid such excellent company."

The band is set to enter Thousand Caves studio in Queens, NY with engineer Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice, Dysrhythmia) to begin tracking a 3rd full-length album slated for a late 2017 release. More...

The Devil Wears Prada Joining Anthrax Tour

The Devil Wears Prada will hit the road early in the New Year for a 27-date North American tour as special support to co-headliners Anthrax and Killswitch Engage. The trek, presented by SiriusXM, kicks off at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ on March 29 and will zig-zag the continent, culminating in Boston on May 7.

This tour won't be the first time that TDWP - Mike Hranica (vocals), Jeremy DePoyster (rhythm guitar, vocals), Andy Trick (bass), and Kyle Sipress (lead guitar) - has crossed paths with either band.

Prada toured the U.S. with KsE in 2010, and played with Anthrax on the 2012 Mayhem tour. Additionally, Adam D., KsE's lead guitarist, produced two of Prada's albums - "Dead Throne" (2011) and "8:18" (2013).

"This tour will be a real treat," said Prada's Hranica. "We have an awesome relationship with Adam, he's one of the craziest, most fun dudes we know, and when it comes to thrash and metal, you don't get much bigger names than Anthrax and Killswitch."

The Devil Wears Prada will be putting together a special set for this tour. "I love the idea of going to a show and seeing bands whose music is in the same ballpark, but still different from each others'," Hranica added. "We have our own personal style on the side of metal, so we'll do some of our dark, heavy, noisey songs, but probably stay away from interludes inbetween. We'll have our own footprint on stage each night."

These dates will be in support of Prada's new and sixth full-lenth album, the 11-track "Transit Blues" (Rise Records). More...

Phil Anselmo Slams Internet Pile-On Culture

During a recent appearance on Eddie Trunk's "Trunk Nation", Phil Anselmo repeatedly apologized for the his usage of racist gestures/phrases at the "Dimebash" event last January and later went onto state that it was a drunken reaction to hecklers at the performance who had been calling him racist throughout the night.

Now in the below interview with Loudwire Anselmo hints that some of his peers decrying his actions may not be so innocent themselves. States Phil Anselmo:

"I’ve been sitting back and silently observing the scrutiny and the hypocrisy and the online, what you call I guess pile-on and you know I sit there and I’m like ‘ok, alright.’ It’s interesting to me, it really is interesting to me how many people I know in the music business that I could name by name, but I won’t because I got too much class for that who pretend to be virtuous and pure and pious and perfect in their lives. I’m glad that they know deep down inside they know who they are, they know that I know they are phonies.

To end this, when I apologized, I meant it. As far as anyone I may have truly offended… But in this day and age I have come way too far, my book is way… my life is open, I’m open about everything. You ask me about drug use, you ask me about anything in this world, I’m an open book. And I think that there is this online community and then there’s the real world. You know? There’s the real world. Over this past year I’ve seen that for my very own eyes that there’s an online community and then there’s real life."
