Motley Crue Progressing w/ Film, Album
Billboard.com reports: Even though Motley Crue has a feature film and a new album in the works, bassist Nikki Sixx says the band's upcoming co-headlining tour with Aerosmith was what really took him by surprise.
"I can't believe it," Sixx tells Billboard.com. "I'm excited but also kind of shocked. We toured for 14 months and now we're going right back on the road again? But for me, to go out with Aerosmith is something that is a dream come true."
The Crue's journey is about to be transformed onto the silver screen with an MTV Films/Paramount project that is slated to move into production this fall. The biopic, which has yet to be cast, is based on the band's autobiography "The Dirt" and is due out next year. Sixx says the band will be "completely involved" in the production.

Eternal Oath Prepare To Enter The Studio
Swedish melodic death metallers ETERNAL OATH will enter the studio in late October to record the follow-up to 2005's "Wither". "Thirteen brand new songs has been written and if all songs will end up on the album is yet to [be] decided," the group writes on its web site.
ETERNAL OATH recently parted ways with original singer Joni Mäensivu and replaced him with Timo Hovinen. The band also announced plans to release their first two albums on one CD. The set, entitled "Re-Released Hatred", includes the band's debut mini-CD, "So Silent" (1996), as well as its follow-up, "Through the Eyes of Hatred" (1998), both of which have been hard to come by for several years. In addition, it features a bonus track: a "mind-blowing" cover of AT THE GATES' "The Fevered Circle". All tracks have been re-mastered with greatly enhanced sound and the CD also includes a completely new, re-designed booklet.
ETERNAL OATH's third full-length album, "Wither", was released in March 2005 via Black Lodge Records. The follow-up to 2001's "Righteous" was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg and was mastered at Polar studios in Stockholm.

Job For A Cowboy Interview Online
Brokenbroadcast has posted an interview with Johnny, vocalist for much raved-about metallers Job For A Cowboy. Excerpts from the interview follow:
BB: You guys participated on a few selected dates of The Sounds of the Underground tour and the Beers and Steers Tour, talk about that.
Johnny: We left late May to kick off the Steers And Beer tour, but before that we did a few weeks worth of the dates of the Necrophagist and Arsis tour. The Necrophagist tour was a bit shaky with our new guitar player, Bobby, he only had a few weeks to learn our set, but thankfully hes a great guitar player and got in the swing of things in just a few shows. The tour was great, packed shows every night. As soon as that was done we jumped in and started the Steers and Beers tour with Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, From A Second Story Window and Animosity. We were surprised over how well the shows were doing, we had alot of fun and we miss those guys really badly. It ran straight for 2 months, I think there was only one day off of the entire tour. After months of touring we had a day off at home, and then we jumped on 3 of the Sounds Of The Underground dates. It was amazing playing with alot of our favorite bands, just being peers with them. We hope we can do the entire tour next summer.
BB: Is there any information on a new record?
Johnny: Well, after this over three months of touring and signing to Metalblade we came home to take a break from playing shows. Taking a break to write our debut full length to get released on Metalblade. If all works out, we're heading in the studio late November to start recording, and then hopefully a few months after that it will be in stores.
BB: What are tour plans for the future? Is there anything lined up for fall?
Johnny: Tour plans right now are still up in the air, we just plan on heading back on tour in January to support our full length.
BB: What is the goal for the band and how do you see yourselves fulfilling it?
Johnny: We just hope that we can keep doing what we love, and hope we can gain some fans out of it. There really isnt a better feeling out there.

Isis Reveal Dates For New Album, DVD And Split CD
Experimental rockers Isis have announced the release dates for their new album, up-coming DVD and Isis/Aereogramme split CD. Isis, who were anticipating a lack of love from the crowds on their recently begun their tour with Tool, and have proclaimed the first show "better than we could have expected", thanking everyone who turned up for being early and enjoying the music. Isis are increasingly excited about the rest of the tour with Tool, which is "gonna be killer".
Isis' up-coming studio effort, "In The Absence Of Truth", is due to be released through Ipecac on Halloween this year. Front cover artwork for the album is available here. The new DVD, also through Ipecac, will precede the album with a September 26th release date. Artwork at this location. New Interview With Killswitch Engage
A brand new audio interview with New England metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, which aired Tuesday night (August 22) on the "Mike Davies Rock Show" on BBC Radio 1, is available for streaming online at BBC.co.uk.
As previously reported, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE ahs set "As Daylight Dies" as the title of its new album, due on November 21 via Roadrunner Records.
"There was really hardly any thought put into it at all," bassist Mike D'Antonio told MTV.com. "It just came out and we hadn't written in so long that everyone had a lot to contribute. It felt more like the sessions for [2002's] 'Alive or Just Breathing', where everyone was contributing, and everyone had a say. That is more, to me, what the KILLSWITCH style is. But, it is the typical line that everyone gives you — that this is a heavier album — but it kind of is. It's definitely way heavier. There are still the melodic choruses here and there, and there's a lot to latch onto. But it's heavy."
"As Daylight Dies" is the result of more than a month and a half in the studio with KILLSWITCH guitarist and one of metal's "it" producers, Adam Dutkiewicz (UNDEROATH, ALL THAT REMAINS). Dutkiewicz will also be mixing the record, which will feature a dozen songs, including "This Is Absolution", "For You" and the title track.
"Lost" Interview With Diseased Dissection Frontman
DISSECTION's U.S. promoter, Jim Mills, has posted a previously unpublished interview with the group's frontman, Jon Nödtveidt, on his MySpace page. As previously reported, Nödtveidt, 31, was found dead on August 16 at his apartment in Hässelby, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden, the apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Commented Mills: "I posted this lost interview from early 2005 for fans of DISSECTION. I am shocked that Jon decided to eave this world so abruptly, and it sucks. Jon was always honest and lived up to everything he said he would do. Last we spoke is when he found out that there was no way he would be given a visa. So we had to can the USA shows, and at the end of the conversation I thanked him, and told him I hope he decides at one point to play DISSECTION tunes in a live setting again. The only time I started acting like a fan and losing my 'professionalism.'
"I can't speculate why Jon did what he did that day. All I know is that DISSECTION will never be replaced, and not one single band compares to DISSECTION. Jon will be missed by his family, friends and fans. I know I do."
A few excerpts from the interview follow:
Q: In regards to bands like DIMMU BORGIR, CRADLE OF FILTH and the like, would you say the main attraction is their imagery, which some would say is almost the new glam-rock or the musical aspects?
Jon: The image.
Q: Now that you are older, been in prison, and had a lot of time to look at your life, how or what did you decide to change with your life, and any changes with DISSECTION?
Jon: Death as my advisor in life. Every day is my last.
Q: Here in America mainstream media is being responsive to heavier (and I say that very loosely) music. Major labels are signing bands left and right, what is your take on this? Would you want DISSECTION to be a part of this trend?
Jon: Mainstream or underground, we use the tools at our disposal.
Q: What do you think you have missed out during the down time of DISSECTION?
Jon: Nothing that I can't do today.
Q: DISSECTION came to an abrupt stop, right when the Swedish scene was gaining more and more exposure due to the ground work that DISSECTION and AT THE GATES laid down. At that point when DISSECTION was on hold, what were your thoughts in regards to the future of DISSECTION, and yourself?
Jon: To rise from the ashes.
Q: Has being in prison affected the music for the new material in any way?
Jon: Inevitably yes.
Q: How difficult was it for you to keep your focus while being in prison? And how did you?
Jon: The time in prison was an opportunity in itself to focus. I walk this sinister path in its full length.
Q: There are many different interpatations of what Satanism is. Some people use the Christian idea, and some use a more toned down self indulgent idea. What is your personal idea and take on being a Satanist?
Jon: To lead things to its end. And to create new beginnings.
Q: What things do you lead to its end? And what would constitute a new beginning in your life?
Jon: Life/death/transcendence.
Q: Would you consider yourself religious?
Jon: A follower of the inner self. A devotee of the Dark Gods.
Q: Does your being a devotee of the dark gods apply to all religions that possess a dark or evil deities? The new single is about a Hindu Goddess, I am assuming that is a part of the whole encompassed Dark Gods.
Jon: A devotee of the Dark Gods, meaning a devotee of the spiritual essence behind the dark side of all religious and mythological traditions. Maha Kali is the terrifying aspect of the dark mother goddess in Hindu religion/myth. Her name translating The Great Black, she who devours all, she is the wrathful one who devours the entire cosmic creation in the time of the complete dissolution, Kali yuga, the ending times. The dark mother is the womb and the tomb.
Q: Where do you want to take DISSECTION now? What things that you did not have the chance to do before, would you like to do now?
Jon: All I want is everything and nothing.
Q: Metal has always been controversial in the public eye, always being linked to negative connotations. Some fans take music too serious and literally, what is your take on bands that get blamed for people killing and acting like fools, using bands like SLAYER, JUDAS PRIEST, as the root of their decisions?
Jon: Well, someone using metal bands as the root of their decisions is probably not a bigger fool than someone using herd mentality, television, society or the church. So go ahead, just follow the lyrics if that's how you feel. Personally, I'm on the highway to Hell!
Q: When you eventually die, what do you see happening? Do you believe humans have souls, or spirits, or only memories for people that still maintain memories of us?
Jon: I believe in the breaking of the cosmic cycle. I believe in the formless eternity beyond, in which those who carry the formless spirit will live on forever.
Q: What makes Jon happy in life?
Jon: The end.
Q: At this point in your career and life, what are your priorities and most important factors?
Jon: Walking the left hand path.
Q: What religion, if you were to choose only one, as the most beneficial to humans.
Jon: The benefits of humans are not my specialty.

Don Vito Charged With Sexual Assault
The following article was originally posted over at MTV.com:
Vincent Margera, 50, uncle of "Viva La Bam" star Bam Margera, was formally charged with two counts of sexual assault on a child on Wednesday (August 23), nearly a week after police arrested him following a signing at a Lakewood, Colorado, skate park.
Both counts are class-four felonies; a spokesperson for the Jefferson County District Attorney's office said the charges don't necessarily carry a mandatory prison term, but if convicted, Margera could face two years in prison and/or probation that could last from a mandatory 10 years up to lifetime supervision.
Margera, who is being represented by Pamela Mackey — the attorney who served as counsel for Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant in his sexual-assault case in Colorado — did not speak or enter a plea during Wednesday's court appearance. He is accused of inappropriately fondling or groping two girls, ages 12 and 14, during two separate incidents at a signing event at Woodward Skatepark at Colorado Mills mall Friday night. He was held in jail without bond until Monday, when he posted $50,000 bond and was released.
Mackey filed a motion requesting that Margera be allowed to leave Colorado and return to his home in Pennsylvania, and that he be allowed to travel for business, but the court rejected that petition. He is currently not allowed to leave the state without the court's permission, but district attorney's office spokesperson Pamela Russell said the travel restrictions will be revisited during Margera's next court appearance on August 28.
A spokesperson for the Margera family did not return calls for comment at press time; Mackey, who waived the reading of the charges in open court, also could not be reached for comment.
Otep Frontwoman Offers Update
OTEP frontman and namesake, Otep Shamaya, has released yet another thought provoking message to fans and the general public warning of things to come from the band:
"it has begun."
"the next phase of the disease is set to be unleashed. it has been conspired upon, calculated & composed according to the fluid laws of the deadliest of mental alchemy's. crafted with the blood and bones, mind & soul from the most ancient of creative heresies, the new album has grown like an embryo, fed and nourished, protected within its egg, waiting to crack its shell and be let loose upon the blinded hearts of humanity."
"it was my uncompromising intention this next opus would not be bound by the chains of convention but to build an album that was again uniquely the child of this collective, and to approach the creative process with as much volatile vulnerability, righteous rage, & instinctive separation from modern to ancient to future as humanly possible. i focused the approach to forging this album with the same ferocity all bands do with their 1st albums, with the same fearlessness, the same unending hunger to be an astronaut - to explore, to endure."
"i have never been more proud of anything in my life. ever."
"this will be the 1st communication in a series of transmissions & messages (coded & decoded) from the demented dimensions of my ceaseless mind. here, i will send you more cryptic communique' in hopes of teasing your sense of anticipation to its shivering limits. here, i will update you (the best i can) on any alterations, changes, or improvements to our website & myspace profile, or feed you a feast of guidance as to our next tour, live ritual, videos, album art, or promotional opportunities for those interested in getting their hands dirty."
"yes, change is coming.
an (e)volution is upon us.
it is to be embraced or, by its nature, will obliterate all those that stand in its way."
"thank you for your unending support & for allowing us to share our music & message with you."
"in art & arms,
otep shamaya"

Supernova: Only the Strong Have Survived
As predicted, “Rock Star: Supernova” contestants Zayra and Patrice have met their doom after bringing very little to the table in previous shows. While it is still a mystery how so many unfit rockers made it so close to fronting a band of Supernova’s magnitude, it now appears as though six strong contenders are left vying for the gig. Unlike many of these types of competitions, it appears that Supernova has precisely weeded out all of the lesser talent, with no undeserving contestants making their way to the final rounds.
Despite the expectations of a strong week, this week’s “Rock Star” shows started off with a whimper, as Patrice kicked things off with a decisively non-rocking original song. Dave Navarro again brought out the “start a solo career” blast—this time in reference to Patrice—both times Navarro’s words have seemed all to fitting. On Wednesday’s show, Patrice again fell into the bottom three. This time, the writing on the wall couldn’t have been any bolder, and Patrice was sent home. More...

Dio Talks About Sabbath Reunion, New Material
Ronnie James Dio (DIO, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) has spoken on radio about rumours of a Black Sabbath reunion:
On the status of the new DIO album:
"I think because we've had to tour so much in the last three years that… I'm the kind of person who who really focuses and hones in on what has to be done. If there's gonna be an album done, I wanna do nothing but that. So I don't write while I'm on the road — that takes that time away. So we do bits and pieces. We've started a few things, and we've learned how to work with each other, because a few of the people in this band have never worked together before as writers — at least one hasn't, and that's Rudy Sarzo, who's our bass player. He's been our bass player for two years, but we've toured for two years, so we haven't had a chance to do any writing. So we're testing the waters here and there, writing a few things. The touring hasn't stopped yet — it won't stop until after October — so when that happens, then I'll focus and we'll write."
On the possibility of DIO/ELF reissues coming our way:
"There's talk of always doing remastered [DIO] things that haven't been remastered yet, and I know that Rhino — through Warner Bros. — will be doing a box set of some kind, and I think they'll all be remastered, so I think you'll some of those. As far as the ELF things go, it was such a long time ago and such a different part of my life, really, that sometimes I think to myself, 'Well, that has nothing to do with what I'm doing now and what I've done for the last 20 years,' but in reflection, I think it's become so much a part of what I am that I think it needs to be addressed at some point. And so, therefore, I will tell you that, having gotten back together with my cousin, who was our guitar player in that band, Rock Feinstein [David 'Rock' Feinstein], we're planning on re-releasing a couple of those albums, remastered, the ELF albums, and doing two or three new tracks. So, yeah, we're gonna do that."
On the possibility of further collaborations with BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi:
"We've already written one [new] song together. The reason for that is that there's a release coming out, it's called 'Black Sabbath: The Dio Years' — they've already done one, of course, 'Black Sabbath: The Ozzy Years'; that was the beginning and, really, the best part of it all — but they've decided to do one, again, 'Black Sabbath: The Dio Years', and we wanted to make it a little but more special, not just give you things you've not heard from a live perspective. These are two things you'll never hear again — two new songs. We are going to do that. It's been fun already. The one we've done — the one that I've done with Tony has been really wonderful — just great to realize how magnificent a player he was. You forget that after 10 years at a time that you don't work with someone. So we are gonna be doing that. And I hope you'll like it. I think it'll be great."
On the rumors of him possibly rejoining BLACK SABBATH:
"There's always rumors about everything — about a RAINBOW reunion, about a BLACK SABBATH reunion. Our purpose was to do this because we wanted to have this product be a bit more special than anything else — not just, 'Here's a live track you've never heard before.' I mean, that's cool, but I'm sure people have heard that. We wanted to do something a bit more special, so the whole band would write and play these songs, and… They've wanted to hear them long enough, so here they are. But it's not anything that we've talked about leading to anything other than that. No, it's for that project."
On the possibility of a RAINBOW reunion tour:
"I've tried for such a long time… We've all tried, I think — Ritchie [Blackmore] and myself, and Cozy [Powell], when he was alive — to try to do something again that would please the people who have been so loyal to us with RAINBOW after all these years. I think they've deserved that — perhaps we've deserved it for ourselves, I don't know. But we did try. It came to a point where it almost happened. Then, unfortunately, Cozy passed away, and it kind of fell apart. So at this point, I would say, this will never, never happen again. No, there will never be another RAINBOW — not with me in it anymore. I have other things in my life to deal with. Ritchie seems to be very happy with what he's doing. Let's all just remember it for the brilliant, great, groundbreaking band that it was and just be thankful that it was there once."
