Yeah, Wicked Wisdom is on of the worst bands I've heard. They're only signed because Jada Pinkett-Smith is in it. I can't believe they've been around this long. horrible. And as for Papa Roach, I don't think they're horrible but they're not that great either. I used to really like them and it got more pop and radio driven as they went on. I probably liked them because that's when the nu-metal stuff was popular. And Korndogg, the tour over here is going to be pretty sh**ty too. It's HIM, Papa Roach, Lost Prophets, and Kill Hannah. The tickets for that in Chicago is like $35. What a waste of money. Gigantour was $38 for a sh** load of better bands and METAL. Damn.

Wicked Wisdom and Papa Roach. You couldn't weld these two bands together and have one good band. BLEED BLACK LABEL!!!!!! I will say that if Jadda Pinkett Smith wants to be in "Metal" she should get with a "Metal" band. The one she is in now has no real talent. You just can't say "My husband is Will Smith and I want you to make me a metal goddess." Doesn't work that way. But I give her BIG props for "keeping it real for women everywhere." LOL. I'm Joking. BLEED BLACK LABEL!!!!!! No offense ladies. I know you can rock out with your...nevermind.

I'm gonna give it to her, she tried, but she failed...
I saw that video she did, I didn't get it, and she isn't good with lyrics and such, but she tried, so I respect her for that...
I mean she has it in her heart, I know that much, she really does FEEL the music when she's listening, (For those who don't know, she actually is a metal fan, and she does have great taste in bands), but Metal artist just isn't her forte...Too bad for her...She tries hard I guess

23. writes:
I respect Jada in the fact that she does like Metal and isn't being fake like some celebrities would be. Will and Jada both like metal. I saw on wikipedia that Will Smith is a big fan of Soilwork...good ol' Wikipedia!!! But yeah Korndogg, I didn't mean that Papa Roach was as bad as the rest of those bands. I really liked them a lot more in the "infest" days. But now they're softer and have more of a radio hit to them. But not all their songs are bad. They're just not as "hard" as they used to be, if I can say that.

i think wicked wisdom is a racist band....i mean come on, all the band members are black, exept for 1 guy. anyways that papa roach guy sucks! his music sounds terrible. just like hollywood is making more horrible movies since there running out of ideas...so is the music industry. the music out now sucks! the rap, rock, metal, its sad to say...but only country is remaining to stay original. i think this tour will not be any good.

thisguy-- yeah, try and tell that to any fan of outlaw country. they'll tell you that the pop music industry has polluted that genre just as it has with all of the others. with artists such as toby keith, brad paisley and other so called pop-rock-country intruders, hard core country (countrycore if you will) seems be underground with metal these days to the true fans. with the exception for classical music, pop culture has corrupted everything, but im guessing that that is only because it takes brains and effort along with an extensive knowledge of music theory to write a six or ten minute piece or a forty-five minute concerto. thats one thing i love about metal. it is practicley the only genre of music that takes classical theory and influence. metal tends to be highly structured and, unlike pop, the songs actually go someplace. pop songs were made to score a grammy or a number one hit and then be forgotten. metal is made to never be forgotten.
I respect Jada's passion for metal, and i think that its cool she tried. but, like a brain surgeon with parkinson's, it would probably be best if she just enjoyed metal as a hobby/interest and not do it professionally.

thisguy:
'i think wicked wisdom is a racist band....i mean come on, all the band members are black, exept for 1 guy'...huh? They have a mostly black band so their racist? Racism is structual oppression for one, and two the fact that most of a band happen to have a cultural/genetic background doesn't necessarily mean anyone else was excluded. You should really understand what you're implying when you choose to say something like that...and no, I don't like the band...
27. writes:
I also am not sticking up for the band but just because of people being black doesn't make them racist. Look at God Forbid. I think the bassist is the only white guy and everybody in the band are great musicians. How the hell does a race within the band actually make them racist themselves?

Terminator and Scorched_Earth, thank you for talking sense to thisguy for me, you just saved me alot ov typing. Terminator, I especially agree with you on the classical theory influence. Its so true. And I can further prove you right...
For those ov us who have iPods and iTunes. You know the equalization section? If so, then you know how they classify certain ways to equalize by naming them after certain genres ov music, according to how said EQ goes best with which genre. Well, long story short, when you go to change the EQ, Change it to the EQ named "Classical", Its perfect for listening to Metal, oddly enough...On 'Classical' you can make out every note and instrument PERFECTLY, and hopefully when I can scrounge up enough money to get the damn iPod (I only have iTunes), I'll also set the EQ on that to 'Classical' as well...But long story short, the 'Classical' EQ is also perfect for listening to Metal...
and thisguy, what about all the metal bands in the world that are ALL WHITE bands? Are they racists too?

30. writes:
and one more thing thisguy-- you cant make a case that wicked wisdom is a racist band BECAUSE they do have 1 white member. to be racist would, as scorched promptly pointed out, imply that all non black members are to be excluded. and the funny thing is because they have a member of a different color makes them more diverse racially than the majority of bands out there.

Ahhh the race issue rear's it's ugly head ounce more....Just for the record Azazel that was an excellent point."what about all the metal bands in the world that are ALL WHITE bands?"Some people just don't think before they speak.
In any event it's funny you brought up the classical connection.I finally saw the documentary I think it was called the history of Metal on Vh1 Classic.First off I'd like to say that what I saw was excellent(did not see all of it.)and recommend it.They gave a complete break down of each and every genre and how it all came into existance.Traceing both sides of it's root's and confirming that metal in it's most basic form(IS EVERYBODY PAYING ATTENTION ?) is really a combination of Classical unflences from 15th & 16th century Europe and southern Blues from the 18th & 19th century in America. They even had Tony Iomi confirm a rumor that I was curious about.SABBATH was actually a Blues/Jazz band before they decided to change there sound.
In any event what they touched on was that certain aspects of Classical music note wise was considerd the Devil's notes because the notes in question when played a certain specific way were very dark fourbodeing & even sexual.
Then the Blues on the other hand had alway's been considerd the Devil's music to begin with.It was very good in fact even the part about the Glam era in the 80's was pretty interesting.I HEREBYE GIVE THIS DOCUMENTARY THE B.D. SEAL OF APPROVAL !
Just for the record I thoght the interviews featureing Bruce d***ensen, D.Snider & Ronnie James Dio were The best.My humble opinion

34. writes:
you guys are the ones who shot dimebag! so stop with the crap. im stating that yea, they seem to be a racist band! i heard on an interview jada said, were adding come color to rock music. and when i went to ozzfest one of the guitarists were wearing a black panther t-shirt. so before you guys start stuff with me, why dont u pick on that homo korndog, hese an assclown. im cool as f***. im a popular person.

Blackdog - from what I've read (not a whole lot, just a bit here and there for studious purposes), didn't metal get its song structure from classical music, and it's scales and crap from blues? Do you remember what they specifically said about the influence/combination of the different music styles that are/were a major part of what makes metal?
37. writes:
I don't remember it going that in depth (like I saide I did not see it all)but they may have. They had alot of college level anthropologist's waying in on the subject. That's one of the thing's that really got me.That's when they discussed the connection between Classical & The Blues. These people made some pretty clear point's that just could not be argued against when you get right down to it.
Another thing they touched on was how Metal is a Macho deal and a big boy's club. But you had these seminal girl band's that alot of people are totally unaware of like Girls School. They also showed pictures of the Runnaway's with Lita Ford & Joan Jett. They also interviewed one of my future baby momma's DORO PESCH ....... SCHWIIIIIIING!!!!!!!!!
Then they got into the Glam era stuff and how androgeny became the thing to do all of a sudden. They interviewed D.Snyder & Vince Neal. Not to mention the Photographer who did the first Poison album cover. The discussion at this point was how on one side of Metal .You've got these guy's who look gay as all hell but arent. While on the other side you've got guy's who look like real men's definition's of men and on that side of thing's just happend to be Rob Halford. Then D comes back on and say's that Rob hid it unbelievably well & nobody knew outside his band until he finally came out. Then he goes on to say in so many word's that there's atleast 2 or 3 other's that nobody would ever suspect. It was truly interesting.I can't wait to see the whole thing.
38. writes:
Ok what exactly is it about Jada's statement and a Black Panther's T-shirt makes you think that they are a racist band ?
Yeah sure Jada should have kept her mouth shut on this one because she clearly was not thinking or simply does not remember the other band's that came before her's like SEVENDUST,LIVING COLOUR,BAD BRAINS,KINGS X, BODY COUNT etc(all of which are way better).Hell the original lead singer of faith no more was black.
As far as the Panther's are concerned. They were not a racist organization.Or in other word's they were not against white people. They were against the violation of the right's of Black's and other non caucasion people by the Police in particular but the United States Government in general particularly the FBI.Which at the time was being run by a Racist Faschist TANSVESTITE AKA J.EDGAR HOOVER.
On that note: what are you talking about.
Also if you want to make a metaphore you'll have to do better than the Dime Bag thing dude.Really not cool.

40. writes:
Again, you lot saved me alot ov typing in order to talk sense to thisguy...THanks again
BLACKDOG, I think they got it right in the beginning ov the documentary, but they didn't even bring up Black Metal at all or Death Metal that much...They only went on the mainstream people...Its like they don't even wanna go into Black Metal, but they bring up Manson because he's better known for his shock value sh**...But there are bands out there that do worse sh** on stage...And they didn't get credit...Just saying...

41. writes:
are you guys referring to a headbangers journey? if so, that was an awesome documentary. and they did talk about black and death metal quite a bit. they went into the church burnings and everything. if you guys are talking about a different show, ill just shut up.
42. writes:
we were talking about VH1's A History of Metal, or something, I think? But tell us about A Headbanger's Journey, and we can compare the shows. See who's doing a better job.
Was it Cannibal Corpse with the dead animals on-stage? Or was that Mayhem? I'm sure I read something about someone getting in trouble for that recently?
43. writes:
For all I know we could be talking about the same thing.Like I saide I did not see it all and I'm not sure about the name.I just know I loved it.Truly informative in every way.I only wish someone would do this well with documentaries concerning my other favorite styles of music. Most of the ones for Hip Hop are barely watchable because they leave alot of key thing's out or the focus on one thing way too much like BEEF.As if that's all Hip Hop is about.
This documentary was outstanding on the other hand.Hat's off to the people who made it and to Vh1 for broadcasting it to the people. Now if we could just get more high quality stuff like this on MTV.

Thisguy:
You most be twelve years old or just completely devoid of reality.
1) Racism is structural oppression. It exist to maintain power in a given situation by those who hold power in a Business government or political system and cause the masses to separate to enforce a divide and conquer mantra. Someone saying they want to add color to a group or organization or someone calling someone a name isn't racism-that's either their opinion or sometimes their stupidity, but no one lost a job, no one wasn't able to buy a house in a given neighborhood, no one was oppressed or killed. Sorry, Jada didn't prevent someone from getting a job or exclude someone from a given cultural or financial situation by what she said.
2) The Black Panther party was a response to unwarranted Police assault and brutality. They did horrible things like set up free food programs for kids who had no food. This programs was adopted by the state of California and then the nation and became the free lunch program in public schools.
Know what the hell you're talking about before you say something like 'someone is a racist'. If you can't enforce financial hardship on someone, what you think of them doesn't really matter. By the way, nice to know that you're popular...

i watched Metal: A Headbanger's Journey on VH1 last night. it showed all of the things that blackdog mentioned. it discussed how the classical composer Vogner had one of the biggest influences on the genre by using dark chords (specifically the suspended 5th, which was banned at that time because it was thought to call the devil forth from hell) and heavy bass yadda yadda yadda. i thought that he did a great job of linking all of the different genres together and how each spawned from a different one (though it is nearly impossible to include every genre of metal, he got the basics). he also interviewed Ronnie James Dio where i found out that Gene Simmons has a copyright on the abbreviation "OJ".
oh and psythe, it was mayhem.

48. writes:
because one day he just happened to find out that "OJ" had yet to be pattented by an orange juice honcho and, in typical gene simmons fashion, he decided to make a few more million dollars. so now, whenever the term "OJ" is used in an advertisement for any product, he gets a piece.
