Trail of Tears Completes Work On New Album

Norway's TRAIL OF TEARS has finished recording and mixing its fifth album, "Existentia", at Soundsuite Studio in Marseille, France with producer Terje Refsnes. "At the moment the album is ready to be shipped away for mastering," the band writes in a statement. "10 songs are featured on the album [which] includes contributions from French female singer Emmanuelle Zoldan and Norwegian keyboard master Bernt Moen. Expected European release is November through Napalm Records, followed by other territories shortly thereafter."

In other news, TRAIL OF TEARS will embark on a Mexican tour with THE LEGION OF HETHERIA in November. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.

Also on the TRAIL OF TEARS front, the band has issued the following statement regarding rumors of a possible South American tour in the fall:

"It has come to the band's attention that a Chilean company named South Star Agency presented by Marco Rios is advertising on their website about a TRAIL OF TEARS South American tour to take place in October/November 2006. This is false! This company does not work with TRAIL OF TEARS and have never done so. Do not under any circumstances buy into anything regarding TRAIL OF TEARS in relation with this company. Our one and only partner in this tour is JrJr Music Network located in Mexico City and all inquieries are to be forwarded to them exlusively." More...

Poison Get Into Fight At End Of Show

The Metal Sludge web site has been updated with several fan accounts in regards to POISON's performance last night (Friday, August 25) at The HiFi Buys Amphitheatre in Atlanta, Georgia:

Account#1: "Don't know what started it, but right before the encore Bret [Michaels, vocals] and Bobby [Dall, bass] appeared to be in a heated discussion and next thing ya know Bobby slings his bass at Bret. Rikki [Rockett, drums] and the roadies had to come in and separate them. Bret then went on to apologize and say how we may have just witnessed the last POISON concert ever. Bobby later came out and finished the song... guess to give the fans what they paid for. Wish I knew what was said."

Account#2: "Here is the way I saw it from fifth-row center seats.

"The next-to-last song has always been 'Nothing But a Good Time', at least for the last six years that I have seen them. Then they seem to always close with 'Talk Dirty To Me'.

"Well, 'Nothing But a Good Time' was played, the confetti dropped as it has every year, the band comes out and waves and it goes dark. A couple of miniutes pass by and Bobby Dall (the bassist) comes running on stage pics up the mic and starts screaming, 'Do you want some more? I can't hear you!' I mean, screaming the shit. I was weird and unusual....just the whole atmosphere of it seemed strange, the way he was acting. Then the rest of the band comes walking out looking puzzled and Bret tried to get the microphone from Bobby. He shoved Bret and looked seriously pissed off. I mean, he looked like he was ready to throw down. Bret took the boxers stance (you know dukes up and bouncing) and I was just kinda trying to play it off with a smile but Bobby wasn't smiling at all. Then four or five roadies come on stage and pull them off the stage.

Brainstorm Surivives Summer Touring

I thought I'd share some long overdue Brainstorm news with you. First of all, really hope you all had an amazing festival summer - we for sure had one of the best festival runs ever and after so many wonderful shows during this summer we have almost reached the end of the summer festival season. One more to go - good times always go fast!

We had a lot of fun headlining the Römerstein Open Air, the Sägfestival and the lovely Eternity of Rock in Italy and definitely had a blast with all you people at the Rock Hard Festival & the Metal Dayz in Switzerland . We enjoyed the nice Rock Am Härtsfeldsee near our home base - it really felt like coming home, dudes; we rocked through and on the muddy fields of the Basin Fire Fest in the Czech Republic and for sure had our part of fun at the Earthshaker Fest. Hugs and kisses go out to all you people on the Sziget Festival in Hungary - it's always a pleasure to play one of the biggest and nicest festivals in the world with its very unique charm and character. You have to go there if you get the chance. Last but not least I for sure don't want to miss to send out a big hello to all you people in Spain and the Metalway Festivals we played end of July. This was without any doubt one of the most intense weekends we had yet. Starting with an amazing show in Gernika, followed by a "Spinal Tap" trip flying via Madrid to the south of Spain with lost instruments, lost luggage, delayed and missed flights followed by a late night show in Jerez and last but not least missing luggage and instruments again in Barcelona and back home as well. Rock 'n' Roll!

Next is the final festival show for this summer: today, on the Deichbrand Festival in Cuxhaven which we are really looking forward to and having said that, there's not much left to say than sending out a big "thanks a lot dudes!" for raising the horns with us on this years' festivals, see you soon either on the Bloodstock Festival in the UK in September or on some more upcoming shows in fall - stay tuned there's more to come.

God bless you all!

Citizen Sign To Relapse Records

Relapse Records has announced the signing of political grindcore guerrillas CITIZEN.

CITIZEN formed in 2004 when Matt Widener (CRETIN), Derrick Psaros, and Mike Mihalik decided to take political grindcore one step further. Widener explains: “Most political bands explore the problems of the world, the crumbling environment, despotic governments…that’s step one for instituting change. But punk and metal rarely go beyond the shock phase. We wanted extreme music to reach the next step—that rally cry, where instead of hopelessness, people are reminded of their power to create change. Music that inspires, is stirring, proud, patriotic…that’s the challenge for CITIZEN.”

CITIZEN’s driving d-beats and anthemic blasts will make their debut on Relapse in 2007 with their as-of-yet untitled official U.S. debut. This record will be a concept album allegorizing the fall of a nation, told in Homeric scope. “We’re writing riffs like leitmotivs,” Widener says, “to symbolize different concepts of freedom and revolution. It’s more nuanced and less on-the-nose this time around. And the music is going even farther into unique CITIZEN territory—more parade marches, war cry-like blasts, the whole thing unabashedly propagandistic. I think we’re stepping away from the bands before us and coming into our own.”

In 2005 CITIZEN released Manifesto For The New Patriot on Code Breaker / Earache, a 15-song compact that married punk-weighted grindcore with revolutionary lyrics culled from guerrilla warfare manuals. Manifesto… mixed the influences of NAPALM DEATH, ASSUCK, DISCHARGE, BRUTAL TRUTH, and TERRORIZER, with fragments of world national anthems, war ballads, and military marches.

CITIZEN tracks can be heard via their official website and MySpace page.

Fecal Corpse Are Too 'Offensive' For Canada

New York City death metallers FECAL CORPSE were apparently turned away at the Canadian border after attempting to enter the country to play a couple of shows. In its latest MySpace bulletin, the band writes, "So we get to the border and they're denying us entry because we didn't have work visas and tried to get in. So we got threatened with three weeks of jail time per member plus fines. So after six hours of interrogation, they decide to let us go because it's 'not worth the time.' The fucking police said to let us go, the border patrol wanted to press charges. Now, we're all not allowed in Canada for one year's time and our merchandise is BANNED from Canada because it's deemed 'offensive.'"

FECAL CORPSE's full-length debut, "We Gang-Banged Your Mom...Again!" was released earlier in the year via Redrum Records.

Masterplan Begin Recording New Album

MASTERPLAN members Uli Kusch (drums) and Roland Grapow (guitar; both ex-HELLOWEEN) have started the recordings for the band's third album. According to a posting on Kusch's web site, a replacement for singer Jorn Lande, who announced his departure from the group in early May, will be confirmed soon. The band's final show with Lande took place on August 8 at Lokersefeesten in Belgium. A photo taken during the performance can be found at UliKusch.de.

According to a statement released by the band in May, Lande's departure was caused by increased "musical differences" between the vocalist and the rest of the band. During the songwriting process for the group's third album, it became increasingly apparent that the other members of the band had different visions and plans for the group's musical direction. While Jorn wanted MASTERPLAN to follow a more melodic path, the rest of the band wanted to return to the metallic roots of their debut album. More...

Blanco Diablo Announce East Coast Tour Dates

Charlotte, NC-based threesome Blanco Diablo plans to continue their assault on the Southeast this fall, including multiple dates in their home state, North Carolina, and neighboring South Carolina. The band has planned a residency of sorts in the Charleston, SC, market, with repeated visits on a monthly basis (see tour dates below). In addition to the upcoming residency, Blanco Diablo has been focusing on Charleston a lot lately. Earlier this summer, band guitarist and leader Jamie Ray teamed up with WYBB-FM and a local Guitar Center to offer a Guitar Clinic. Two one-hour sessons were given away: one winner won at the store, and the other was given away on WYBB's local show. The station has been extremely supportive of the band thus far.

Blanco Diablo themselves have also been supportive in their hometown – the band played a benefit concert on August 19th at the Charlotte Neighborhood Theater, sharing the bill with other local bands. They helped raise over $92,000 for a friend of the band who was seriously injured in early July during the Running of the Bulls in Pamploma, Spain. The money raised will go to defray mounting medical costs.

Jamie Ray, who is a recognized and accomplished guitarist, hopes to schedule additional guitar clinics, like the one he did in Charleston, this fall. He is sponsored by Dunlop, and was tapped to try out for Ozzy Osbourne's band at the age of 19. Blanco Diablo released their debut album, Paper Poison Revolution, through Rock Ridge Music on April 25, 2006. Driven by the relentless propulsion of guitarist/singer Jamie Ray's catchy riffs, this North Carolina based trio is rewriting the rock and roll rule book, defining a genre in their own terms. Ray proclaims, "We don't adhere to any formulas, we trust our instincts, and we take pride in cutting our own musical path despite the current musical trends. We've got the best seasoned firewood for a new generation of rock n' rollers looking for heat!!!"

Blanco Diablo is: Jamie Ray (vocal/guitar), Patrick Jason (bass/backing vocals), Jeff Nunnery (drums/backing vocals). They can be found online at blancodiablomusic.com and myspace.com/blancodiablo.

Here are Blanco Diablo's confirmed shows:

8/26 Charlotte, NC @ Amos' Southend

Blinded Colony Premiere New Track This Wednesday

Sweden's BLINDED COLONY will be posting a brand new track online at their official MySpace page this coming Wednesday (August 30). It will only be made available for 24 hours, and will NOT be downloadable.

As previously reported, BLINDED COLONY has been forced to push back the projected release date of its new album, "Bedtime Prayers" (Pivotal Rockordings), to November 10 from the previously announced October 13. "The reason for this is that we simply couldn't make the deadline: Schuster [vocals] has been screaming his lungs out and therefore got himself a very soar throat, which means delays," guitarist Tobias Olsson previously stated. Los Angeles, California's FALL TO GRACE has just received word that they are moving into the semi final stage of the National Bodog Battle Of The Bands competition and are to perform the next round of the contest on September 12th at The Roxy club. They are currently at work on their debut LP and still remain unsigned, but it looks very promising for the hard rockin bunch. They have great stage performance and blend the key elements of metal with a literal 'throwback' Rock-style so well that I just don't see them not making it to the top here very soon. I took some time to get more info on the group with their bass player, Christophe. More...

Dickinson: Sharon "Is Obviously Completely Mad"

In his only interview for Swedish media in support of IRON MAIDEN's new album, "A Matter of Life and Death", vocalist Bruce Dickinson talked candidly to Close-Up magazine about last year's Ozzfest and the infamous egg incident.

Immediately after IRON MAIDEN's triumphant show at Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg on July 9, 2005, Dickison told Kerrang! magazine, "I'd like to go to America and say 'You're very good, but you're not as loud as 56,000 fucking vikings in a football stadium.'" The following week, the band went to America to play at Ozzfest, but the outspoken vocalist didn't have a lot of nice things to say about it.

"It was my usual love/hate relationship with corporate America," says Dickinson. "Ozzfest is a corporate rock event at which they sell the front 10-12 rows to corporate seats and not to kids. Most of the bands pay a lot of money to be on the Ozzfest, they get paid next to nothing. The whole way it's being portrayed as being some kind of altruistic holiday for all the bands is absolute nonsense, it's complete bullshit. Most of the bands are there because they paid to be there. That's the way it's run. We went out and we were like, 'Okay, why aren't there any people down the front?' Well, because it's restricted seating and because they don't have tickets. 'What?!' That's fucked, so we said so. I said so every night. Some fat cunt with greasy hair sat eating his hamburger with 50 seats empty all around him. Where are all the kids? They're held behind the barrier and they can't get any closer, because that's the way the venue is run. That sucks."

Close-Up: Did you expect Sharon Osbourne to take the measures that she took?

Bruce: "No, I think they were extraordinary, weren't they? Childish and uncalled for, and quite dangerous, really, when you consider there could've been a riot among the rest of the audience. Extraordinary! She is obviously completely mad!"

Close-Up: You kept quiet. Weren't you dying to fight back in the press?

Bruce: "There's no purpose of starting a soap opera. I mean, she IS a soap opera. That's what she does, that's what 'The Osbournes' is, that's what this 'X Factor' and all this reality TV bullshit is. IRON MAIDEN is IRON MAIDEN, we don't participate in that kind of crap. We don't do [MTV show] 'Cribs' or the celebrity garbage that is everywhere, that pervades people's lives and they think is important. We don't do 'I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here', 'Big Brother', or any of that shit. So doing any more than stating the facts and let people make up their own mind is just playing to the press. It's just gonna create more crap. There was so much stuff on the Internet, there were so many people who saw exactly what happened. Let the people tell the story, we don't need to say anymore than 'Okay, this is what happened. If you don't believe us, you can find out.'"

Close-Up: An hour ago I was surfing the Net and did a search on Google on "IRON MAIDEN + Sharon Osbourne" and this comment from Blabbermouth came up: "I fucking hate IRON MAIDEN, but fuck Sharon Osbourne." You must've loved the aftermath of the egg incident. All of a sudden everyone, even people that weren't into IRON MAIDEN, were rooting for you.

Bruce: "I see what you mean. I think the key is that this was a collision between two completely different worlds. The world that Sharon lives in is a world of... She goes to fashion shows and her daughter is the new face of whatever it was, some make-up bullshit or something you put on your face. Vogue magazine and all that kind of crap. She's put herself in that world and done that by choice. And lots of people do [that] and they're supermodels. All those people have their picture taken on red carpets and appear in fashion magazines. That's not our world, that's not my world. I don't ever go to places like that. I'd rather have all my teeth pulled out and have nails hammered into my gums than go there, to a fashion show and hang out with supermodels!

"What we do is we are a heavy metal band and what we care about is our fans. That's it. So our strength comes from that simplicity. You know, what do I care if I never appear on reality TV? 'Fucking great, thank you! Can I have it in writing?' But in her world, that's really important. In her world, it's really important what you look like. In her world, facelifts are really important. In my world, I don't give a fuck. I get old and I get wrinkly. Who gives a shit?"

Adema Post Demo Songs From New Album

Adema have experienced some changes since their latest album, "Planets". Luke Caraccioli first replaced original vocalist, Marky Chavez, but resigned his position only six months after the album was released. Bobby Reeves (Level) has now stepped in as the new singer. Also hailing from Level is guitarist Ed Faris, who joined Adema early this month, after leaving his former band.

The regrouped Adema have been working on some new material for an album tentatively due sometime next year. Demos of the songs "Human Nature", "Out Alive" and "Los Angeles" have been added to the player on their MySpace page, here. As previously reported, a demo for the song "Somethin' Better" was posted to the band's Purevolume page.
