Van Halen To Be Inducted Into Hall of Fame
Van Halen to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday along with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, R.E.M., the Ronettes and Patti Smith. A panel of 600 industry experts selected the five artists to be inducted at the annual ceremony, to be held March 12 in New York.
Van Halen was the 1980s hard rock quartet led by guitarist Eddie Van Halen, outrageous lead vocalist David Lee Roth, and later rocker Sammy Hagar, that put out hits such as "Jump" and "Dreams."
To be eligible, artists must have issued a first single or album at least 25 years before nomination.
100 Greatest Guitar Solos (with Tabs)
Guitar World magazine recently published this list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Solos from a reader's poll. What resulted was certainly not a definitive list and it reflected the magazine's demographic (no jazz guitar solos, for example), but it is an interesting collection of solos to browse nonetheless. About.com has republished this list complete with links to the guitar tabs.
Metal bands such as Metallica, Pantera, Guns N Roses, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and greats such as Hendrix, Rhoads, Satriani, Ritchie Blackmore, Eddie Van Halen and more pepper the list with multiple entries.
It's a decent read if you've got the time, and a good resource if you wanted to learn how to play some of these solos.

The special double disc package takes the viewer on a several hour journey into the world of Slipknot as the band recently circled the globe in support of the multi-platinum album Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses). Far from your usual tour film, 'Voliminal: Inside the Nine' is more of an art piece - while fans are taken in the studio, on stage, backstage, on their tour bus and everywhere in between as they experience the energy of a band literally living, breathing and fighting for the music they created, none of it unfolds in ways you'd expect.

Dave Mustaine Issues Another Update
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has issued another update:
"Droogies!
Whilst being burried under the workload of this last session with Andy Sneap on the new album, I can't help but enjoy the countryside out here in Derbyshire, England. I am working on finishing by Thursday (fingers crossed), and will return to the states to start unwinding, in order to just wind back up again for the US run which is going to be super selective cities, venues, and with the perfect support groups.
Gigantour NA will go out in January of 2008, as we are going to be spending most of 2007 trying to get into some of the countries that we have not been in for a while. Of course this means scaling things down so we can revisit, or in the case of South Africa (which I yearn to play), visiting for the first time; and places like Serbia, or Romania again, now that we have made our first impression there. I still hope to find my cell phone in Serbia; I certainly can't have the posuers in my cell phone being revealed and crank-called. Well, there are two idiots that I guess I would enjoy getting cranked, but whatev!!!
So, here are the new song titles that I know you know:
"Gears Of War"
"Washington Is Next"
"United Abominations"
And here are some other titles:
"Amerikhastan"
"Blessed Are The Dead"
"Never Walk Alone"
and . . . More...
Stone Sour to Headline Spring Jagermeister Tour
Stone Sour will lead the charge on this year's Jägermeister Music Tour - their first headlining tour in support of latest album Come What(ever) May, and featuring special guests Lacuna Coil and Shadows Fall. The Tour kicks off on March 23rd in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Fresh from their sold-out European/UK tour, Grammy-nominated Stone Sour is primed to capture the attention and the hearts of the rock ‘n roll masses. The band is a multi-faceted hard rock force of nature whose twisting melodies run the gamut of emotions. Stone Sour were the band to see at last summer's Family Values Tour where they performed with Korn and The Deftones, and, more recently, the band toured with Disturbed to rave reviews. Come What(ever) May is already certified gold and on its way to platinum.
"This has been something we have been looking forward to for a very long time." says Stone Sour vocalist, Corey Taylor. "Having done this tour before, I can honestly say it's like nothing I've ever experienced. It's our time, and we're coming for you."
The Tour will rock through May and each show will be rounded out with a local Jägermeister band. Going on six years, the Jägermeister Music Tour is bigger and bolder than ever, becoming THE hard rock show to see. Produced by Live Nation, past Tours have brought Disturbed, Slayer, Slipknot, Staind and Hatebreed, to the masses, and now the Tour continues its hard rock charge. More...

We had a blast with the dudes in Incantation, Internal Suffering and Burn In Silence and we're really looking forward to the album's release. We look forward to being the first band to break your neck this year and unleashing our unholy terror upon the masses in '07. He describes the new material as being "more structured and well-balanced. It'll be a mix between Strength Through Vengeance and Unbroken," Bouchard says. Wargasm DVD Is "Coming Along Slowly But Surely"
WARGASM guitarist Rich Spillberg has issued the following update via the band's official web site:
"The DVD has been coming along slowly but surely. I actually got myself involved in producing another album, and that has been taking my time away from the 'GASM DVD, but I have recently started back into it. The band that I'm producing is STEEL ASSASSIN. If you don't know of them, they were around in the early Eighties. They had a PRIEST/MAIDEN/SAXON early metal sound. I used to roadie for them long before 'GASM was doing it. They broke up in around '86 and recently the original members (except for the singer) all reformed to write and record an album. They asked me to do it. They have some interest from some labels here and in Europe, so we are trying to sort that all out right now.
"Yeah, taking these things on is great, but it does interfere with the 'GASM stuff. The way I look at it is the 'GASM package will come out and it is going to be amazing!!"
"As some of you may or may not know I created a myspace account for WARGASM back in February of 2005. The page URL is www.myspace.com/wargasm this is now where you will find MP3s for download and a message board dedicated to WARGASM!"
WARGASM's upcoming DVD will contain footage recorded at the band's special reunion show on Sept. 18, 2004 at the Middle East Club in Cambridge, MA. The DVD will also feature a documentary about the band, complete with vintage live material and other candid footage of the band.
WARGASM split up in 1995 after issuing their third full-length album, "Suicide Notes", through the Transmission label.

The 17-song set was filmed by German TV (WDR) and was also shot for use in the band's upcoming second volume of the "Lords of Depravity" DVD.
SODOM have been confirmed for next year's installment of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 2-4, 2007 in Wacken, Germany.
SODOM's self-titled album was released in Germany on April 21, 2006 in Europe April 24, 2006 and in the USA May 9, 2006 via SPV Records. The band issued its "Lords of Depravity - Part I" DVD in the U.S. on February 21, 2006 via SPV. The first of two double-DVD sets contains the SODOM history from 1982 to 1995 plus live footage from concerts in Sofia and at the With Full Force, Wacken Open Air and Rock Hard festivals. *(Thanks: Hans in The Netherlands)
