Rigor Mortis To Perform With 'Godfather Of Gore'

Director Herschell Gordon Lewis, who is widely credited with inventing the slasher horror film in the early 1960s with the release of his film "Blood Feast" in 1963, will join reunited Texan thrashers RIGOR MORTIS live on stage at the Texas Frightmare Weekend in early February. "We are, of course, honored to have the chance to dedicate our song 'Wizard of Gore' to the man that made the movie with the same name that inspired our song," the band write in a statement. "But, now the 'Godfather of Gore' himself is going to get on stage and sing with RIGOR MORTIS."

The Texas Frightmare Weekend is the largest horror convention in Texas with guest celebrities, film screenings, panel discussions, and more. The event will be held at the Grapevine Convention Center in Grapevine, TX on February 4-5.

The original RIGOR MORTIS lineup of Bruce Corbitt, Mike Scaccia (MINISTRY, REVOLTING COCKS), Casey Orr (GWAR, X-COPS, THE HELLIONS, THE BURDEN BROTHERS), and Harden Harrison (PERVIS, SPEEDEALER, MITRA) will launch a 20th anniversary tour later in the month. Gluecifer 'Best Of' Collection, Reissues On The Wa

Defunct Norwegian rock 'n' rollers GLUECIFER have posted the following message on their official web site:

"There are future releases on the agenda, but please note that no release dates are yet to be confirmed. Captain Poon [guitar] will produce a 'best of' GLUECIFER with a bonus disc featuring obscure and unreleased material. A DVD from the farewell show at Sentum scene is in the making, looks just fantastic, and it will be released later this year. A new and updated version of the first three records will hopefully be available sometime during 2006. 'Ridin' the Tiger', 'Soaring with Eagles at Night…', 'Tender is the Savage' were all released by Swedish label White Jazz between 1997-2000. Captain Poon says, 'I am just sick and tired of watching the way these records have been treated, even being totally unavailable in so many countries. It's about time to do something about that. The label having the rights for these records today seem to be pretty co-operative though. The band is history now, and the least thing we should do is making the bloody history available for everyone to enjoy.'"

In other news, former GLUECIFER drummer Danny Young has posted the following message on the site:

"I'm back in Norway from LA after six months of going to MI [Musician's Institute]. I took drum lessons there and had a great time hanging out with a lot of fun people. Right before I went back Todd Youth of THE CHELSEA SMILES asked if I would play drums on his new side-project. Todd, who has played with many very well known bands before (DANZIG, D-GENERATION, MURPHY'S LAW and CHROME LOCUST) had 10 songs that Sami Yaffa (HANOI ROCKS and NEW YORK DOLLS) and I were asked to play on. Of course I said yes and we had a great time recording Todd's songs. We also recorded a version of NEW YORK DOLLS' 'Chatterbox'. The album (project and album title not confirmed yet) will be released sometime next year on Acetate Records, so look out for this release coming to a cool record store near you! For updates and demo recordings from this project , you can check out www.myspace.com/toddyouthsheartaches or www.acetate.com."

Terrorizer Signs To Century Media Records

Recently re-formed legendary grindcore pioneers TERRORIZER, have signed to Century Media Records worldwide. Released in 1989, the bands highly acclaimed and influential debut album "World Downfall" (Earache Records) took the metal scene by storm. With an as yet unheard of aggression the band became a cult institution even though they quickly disbanded. Following the break up the main founding members, drummer Pete Sandoval and guitarist Jesse Pintado, moved on to join legendary extreme bands Morbid Angel and Napalm Death respectively.

The band remained popular through the next 16 years with newer acts citing inspiration from "World Downfall." The massive amount of available bootleg recordings and band merchandise as well as rumours of a follow-up album kept TERRORIZER’s name alive. Now, after what might seem like an eternity of silence, the band have signed a worldwide deal with Robert Kampf, owner of Century Media. Sondoval and Pintado have already started working on a new studio album, to be recorded early 2006 in Florida with producer Juan “Punchy” Gonzalez (Morbid Angel, Unholy Ghost, Christian Death, Diet of Worms etc.) for a summer 2006 release.

“After long negotiations with several labels, it’s official: TERRORIZER and World Management are happy to announce the new album will be on Century Media,” commented the band.

Introducing themselves to the TERRORIZER fold are guitarist Tony Norman (MORBID ANGEL, MONSTROSITY) and vocalist Tony Militia (RESISTANT CULTURE). Many people have asked why Oscar Garcia (NAUSEA) and David Vincent (MORBID ANGEL) are not returning. Simply put, Oscar is no longer interested in TERRORIZER and wants to focus on his own band NAUSEA.

Regarding what the fans can expect from the group's long-awaited new release, Pintado said, "It will be different but in the TERRORIZER vein." There are reportedly talks of introducing classical piano parts, industrial noise parts and chants on the new record. A 13-minute-plus song is in the works as well as some of the fastest drumming ever put to tape.

Beecher Call It Quits

UK outfit Beecher have officially disbanded. Formed in 2001, the group signed with Earache Records in 2004. Here's a statement from the band:

"After almost five long years of putting everything we have into this band, it has finally brought itself to an end. For the whole time we've put all our creative and physical energy into writing and performing music that we believed in completely, and for the most part we've been underappreciated, misunderstood and misrepresented by both the media and by the general public. We've never been 'the UK's answer' to anybody; we've never been a 'fashioncore' band or a 'noisecore' band and we've certainly never once adhered to any of your bullshit 'scene' rules. We are who we are and we played what we wanted, and in our minds we've set an example and achieved more than we ever thought possible. I'm sorry to say that it seems that right now, you either need to look stupid or sound shit (or more often than not a combination of the two) to get anywhere in this 'scene,' two things that have never applied to Beecher.

The reason for our break-up is a combination of personal reasons that no one outside of our band needs to know, but rest assured now is the time, the time for us all to get our lives back

We have made some great friends and fans along the way and to those people we give our sincere thanks. We hope our band will live on in your memories, as it's sure to in ours. We've had some fucking good times. If you ever deserved thanks, then you got it in at least one of our record sleeves."

Annihilator Post New Video Online

The ANNIHILATOR video for 'Alison Hell' has been posted online at this location, but according to a post by guitarist Jeff Waters at the band's official website it is one of two versions that were made:

"The cool thing about this is that it is of the USA Only version of the video. There was a completey different version that is on the new Ten Years In Hell DVD, due out in February on SPV Records. The original version had too much of me wearing that Virgin Airlines shirt; a stupid move on my part, as I hadn't realized that it was also a label. Something that I am sure Roadrunner were not that happy about, understandably!

So the version on this site is the USA version. Cool."
