Fire When Ready Assaulted During Show
Fire When Ready was apparently assaulted during a show in Greensboro, NC last week. The band has been recovering at a friend's house in Greenville, SC and will resume the tour (with Anterrabae) on January 14th in Nashville, TN. Here's an extensive statement from the band regarding the incident:
"We want to tell you guys what happened last night before you hear too many rumors. We played a show in Greensboro, NC last night. During the show we were assaulted by a group of about 15 guys. We have a variety of injuries that we are trying to let heal right now. Brandon has a large gash on the back of his head, a busted nose, some of his front teeth were kicked in, glass in his head and back, a large gash on his back, two busted lips, and a variety of other bruises and cuts. Justin has glass in his head and back, a large gash on the side of his head, some bruised ribs, and a large cut on his back. Steve, Travis, and Jesse (our new merch guy) have some bruised ribs, cut lips, and a few other cuts and bruises. We want to assure you guys that we are going to be ok. Some of these injuries have been treated already. Brandon may need to see a doctor in the next day or so for his teeth and head. A friend of ours started a PayPal account to help us pay medical expenses. I am told it has circulated around the internet quite a bit. We want to let you guys know that we are not going to plea with you to donate to us. We know there are a lot of other more important causes to give your money to. Your emails and phone calls have done much more then money can do. If you have given money already we appreciate it. We love you guys! We are going to do our best to try and explain why this happened. It is hard to make sense of something this ignorant and stupid. Earlier in the show, there were things done that upset us. Without going into much detail we had to sit through all kinds of prejudicial language and other ridiculous actions most of the night. During the set Brandon spoke out against specific negative things that had happened to kids that night. About mid-set Brandon jokingly spoke out about a large group of people who had left as soon as we started playing. I am sure he will tell you more about this at a later time. During the last song, about 15 people came in from outside. They attacked Brandon and knocked him to the floor. Justin stepped in to defend him and after a little while they were able to knock him to the floor as well. For about a minute Brandon and Justin were punched, kicked, and basically stomped. Travis, Jesse, Steve, and some members of the other bands on tour with us were able to finally stop the assault. We left the club soon after. Our band will never support violence of ANY kind at ANY show. We do not care whether it is directed at us or someone else. We will not remain quiet when we see or hear things that are blatantly wrong and hateful. We do not support homophobia, degradation of women, racism, or any other predatory behavior that is becoming more and more prevalent in the scene. We won't back down from our beliefs and we won't ever stop speaking against any injustice. We don't ask for your pity or money, we just ask for awareness and progress. We also don't wish any harm physically or verbally to the guys who hurt us. We just want you guys to think before you act, we promise we'll do the same."

Naglfar Sign With Century Media
Sweden’s blackest of the black, Naglfar, have signed a new worldwide record contract with Century Media Records. Their new album, tentatively titled “Pariah”, is currently being recorded at Ballerina Studios in the band’s hometown of Umea. A wise decision as both preceding albums, “Diabolical” and “Sheol”, had been recorded in this studio and gave the band’s razor sharp sound its keen edge.
“Pariah” will be released in Spring 2005 and the new material promises to solidify Naglfar's reputation as one of the best – if not the best – bands in their musical genre. The expectations are of course high as the band’s last masterpiece “Sheol” received excellent feedback without exception all over the globe, i.e. achieving the highest praise from the press - Album Of The Month in Legacy (D) and Heavy, Oder Was!? (D), or 10 out of 10 points Rock Hard (D), to name just a few -- and climbing to top ten positions in the reader’s year-end polls of various magazines.
Naglfar, who had rewritten the rules of black metal with their debut “Vittra” in 1995 (this album ranks amongst the 300 best metal albums of all time in Rock Hard magazine) and have released the most brutal album of 1998 with their second output “Diabolical” (featuring immortal classics like “The Brimstone Gate” or the infamous “Horncrowned Majesty”), have always had a high standing in the black and death metal scene, which fully manifested itself with their last album “Sheol”, gaining the band many more fans than ever before.
According to this history, it is no surprise that “Pariah” is one of the most-awaited albums in the metal scene this year. But from a band that has always delivered the highest quality, one can expect that “Pariah” will again be a damn classic of pure melodic Swedish black metal that will break the competition’s neck.
Although the final tracklist is still to be announced, “Pariah” will contain the following tracks: More...

Staind's Aaron Lewis Is 'Winging It' On Solo Tour
Staind frontman Aaron Lewis spoke with Doug Elfman of The Las Vegas Review Journal about his acoustic solo tour, which doesn't feature a set list. "I kind of wing it, and crash and burn a lot," he says. "Half of the songs I bust out in an evening, I haven't played in years and years and years, and certainly haven't practiced them. I pull them out from my memory." Much of the show features covers changed up according to his whims. "A lot of them, I have made up guitar parts for 'em," Lewis said. "I don't play guitar parts quite right. I kind of play them just good enough to be able to sing over the top of them."

Nightwish Donate To Tsunami Relief Effort
Nightwish posted a statement on their web site regarding the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster. "Since Nightwish is having a break from touring at the moment we do not have any chance to participate in any of the Asia-charity concerts organized in January," the statement read. "This is something we really would have wanted to take part in. So now we did the only thing we could: a direct donation in the name of the band [in the amount of 10,000 euros; approximately $13,000]. [We] wish we could do more. All those going through the tragedy, you are in our thoughts."
