"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Ex-Flaw Frontman in New Project

Former FLAW frontman Chris Volz has elaborated on his departure from the band. These days, Volz is working with a new project, tentatively named Vent (although chances are they won't be able to retain this moniker for legal reasons as AudioVENT once found out the hard way).

Here's what Chris Volz had to say on his departure and new band:

okay, heres the deal,...................... before flaw got a record contract, we had the work ethics of a military squad, we rehearsed 6-7 days a week, played shows anywhere and everywhere, everyone had so much motivation and drive to accomplish our dreams. At the end recently, attitudes sucked (some caused by the industry) to the point where the writing process was totally changed, and I felt like I had to convince certain people why we were doing this, practices became rare if at all, I was even the only one who would go to radio stations for interveiws any more and support our music. As some of you know, music is life to me, and eventually I became frustrated with the people around me. This is also why it is so cool to be in the band Im in now, because Ivan wrote most of the whole first flaw record with us, and Ben was our original bass player before Ryan, and the two guitarists from SilentQ are bad ass. So essentially, the drive and work ethic is back to the way it should have always been, the music is incredible, and the energy is once again 'flawless'. This doesnt mean that there will never be a Flaw reunion tour in the future, but honestly, this new band is my priority. You will be able to hear for yourselves soon! As far as the rumors about me and Ryan, there were stupid words exchanged one night about loading equipment and whether intentional or not, Ryan head-butted me...........so I struck back, and that was it,over. It shouldnt have happened but Ryan and I still played another show after that, and things seemed fine. There are still things I need to work on, as we all do, but music always takes priority for me, it keeps me sane. I wish all the guys well in whatever else they decide to do, but I am just not capable of surrounding myself with anyone who does not, or will not, give 110% to their project. This doesnt mean I didnt make any mistakes myself, but you learn from them and move on, not dwell and give up. So Ive moved on for now. Ironically, something possibly even more incredible has come out of it.................Vent.
see you all soon, and thanks for the wonderful years with flaw.

I am saddened by the departure of Flaw. They are one of the few bands I have connected with musically, lyrically and emotionaly. As Volz said "...move on, not dwell and give up..." Therefore I shall abid. I will stay optimistic that the music that continues will be just as powerful. And just maybe, something possibly even more incredible has come out of it, Vent.
