Bloody Sign Prepare To Record New Album
French black/death metallers BLOODY SIGN will shortly enter Dissonant studio in Italy to record their second album. Nine tracks of "old obscure death black" metal — including a cover of cult French band MASSACRA — will be recorded for the effort, which will be issued later in the year via Ibex Moon Records.
In other news, BLOODY SIGN will hit the road in April/May with American death thrashers ESTUARY. The trek will cover France, Spain and Portugal (notably Barroselas Steel Warrior Festival), among other countries.
Early Live Dimebag Video Posted Online
A seven-minute video of PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott "shredding" on stage at the age of 18 (circa 1984-1985) has been posted online at this location.
As previously reported, Dimebag's REBEL MEETS REBEL project — which also features fellow founding members of PANTERA, Vinnie Paul (drums) and Rex Brown (bass), alongside legendary country singer/outlaw David Allan Coe — will see its long-awaited release in April via Vinnie's Big Vin label. The CD was recorded over a four-year period and is set to contain a total of 12 tracks, including "Nothin' To Lose", "Rebel Meets Rebel", "Cowboys", "Panfillo", "Heartworn Highway", "One Night Stand", "Arizona Rivers", "A Man With Nothin' Ain't Got Nothin' to Lose", "New York City Streets" and "Get Outta My Life".
Lake of Tears Announce Tentative Release Date
Sweden's LAKE OF TEARS are tentatively scheduled to release their as-yet-untitled seventh full-length album on August 28 via Dockyard 1, the new company formed by Dirk Putzke, Christine Stephan (both ex-Sanctuary/Noise Records) and Piet Sielck (IRON SAVIOR).
LAKE OF TEARS' most recent album, "Black Brick Road", was released in August 2004 through Noise Records. The follow-up to 2002's "The Neonai" featured cover artwork by Kristian Wåhlin, who has painted all of the previous LAKE OF TEARS covers except "Forever Autumn" (1999).
LAKE OF TEARS are scheduled to perform at the 1,500-capacity Agronomia Hall in Bucharest, Romania on March 11. Support at the show will come from Romanian bands CELELALTE CUVINTE and VOICES OF SILENCE. A gig at the Columbia Club in Berlin, Germany on March 12 has yet to be confirmed.

"Unpure Burial" was recorded, mixed and mastered by Nathan Eldred at Atlas Recording Studios. Audio samples of the tracks "Cold", "You Dont Give A Fuck", "L.I.E.F.E.", "Living And Dying", "Damn", "My Left Shoulder" and "Unpure Burial" are available at suddendeath.biz.
Axl Rose: People Will Hear New GNR Music This Year
GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose spoke to a Rolling Stone reporter at KORN's tour announcement bash at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in the early hours of Saturday morning (Jan. 14). The following are several excerpts from the article, which can be read in its entirety at RollingStone.com:
On the long-awaited new GUNS N' ROSES album "Chinese Democracy":
"It's a very complex record. I'm trying to do something different. Some of the arrangements are kind of like QUEEN. Some people are going to say, 'It doesn't sound like Axl Rose, it doesn't sound like GUNS N' ROSES.' But you'll like at least a few songs on there."
"We're working on thirty-two songs, and twenty-six are nearly done," he says. Of those, thirteen are slated for the final album. Among Rose's favorites are "Better", "There Was a Time" and "The Blues".
On being more like an average guy than the most mythical rock star on the planet in 2006:
"The only time people ever write about me is when I go out to a strip club, because I don't chase the paparazzi down."
On the possibility of a reunion with his former GUNS N' ROSES bandmates:
"I haven't spoken to Slash in ten years. I love the guy, I always wanted everyone to know how great he was, but.... I was just talking to Izzy the other day though."
On the possibility of the current incarnation of GUNS N' ROSES going back out on the road soon:
"Every time there's a big festival announced, we get rumored to be on there. But we'll see what happens."

The Red Chord Seeking New Drummer
THE RED CHORD have released the following statement about how you can be their new drummer:
"Just when you thought we'd keep the same five guys in our band for more than six months, think again. We have switched out drummers. We'll chock it all up to personal issues and irreconcilable differences... best of luck in future ventures... long and happy life... yadda yadda yadda. But, everything is going 100% on schedule. We're still doing all of our upcoming tour dates and we have some really big tours to announce in the near future. Our long time friend, Kevin Talley (ex-CHIMAIRA, MISERY INDEX) will be joining us on our upcoming tour with THROWDOWN. It's about time we finally jammed together and we're looking forward to seeing how it all goes.
In the meantime, if you're a drummer and wish to try out, here's how:
Video tape yourself performing the tracks Nihilist, Dreaming in Dog Years, Fixation on Plastics & Black Santa. We are looking for the songs to be played as close to exact as possible. The video must be taken in a way that both your hands and feet are visible. If you can't see both in the video, just run through the songs twice -- once with the camera pointed at your feet and once at your hands. We have a soft spot for drummers that beat the crap out of their kit, so if you're a tapper, drink your milk and man it up! Applicants must be willing to tour for upwards of 300 shows each year. You must also have a valid US passport, your own gear and a willingness to get to Mass & potentially relocate to the Mass/NH area if need be. If you have substance abuse problems, don't bother applying. If you have a rock star attitude, don't both applying. If you are looking to go on the road, be respectful and have a good time and you happen to have exceptional drum abilities, we want to meet you!
Send video to:
The Red Chord
23 Rand Street
Revere, MA 02151
If we like what we see, WE will get a hold of YOU, so include all of your contact info including phone number & email. We're looking forward to seeing everyone in the upcoming months on our tour with THROWDOWN. See you soon."

Sanctity Signs To Roadrunner Records
Roadrunner Records has announcedthe signing of Asheville, NC Classic-Metal quartet, SANCTITY. The group formed in 2000 and is comprised of Jared MacEachern (vocals/rhythm guitar), Zeff Childress (lead guitar), Billy Moody (bass) and Jeremy London (drums).
SANCTITY was signed by longtime Roadrunner A&R man and purveyor of seminal Metal bands like SEPULTURA, SLIPKNOT, and - most recently - TRIVIUM, Monte Conner. Says Conner: "Sanctity is straight-up, guitar-based, melodic heavy metal. I received a video of the band's song ‘Zeppo,’ and besides showcasing the blazing fretwork of lead shredder, Zeff, the main thing I got from the video was a sense of how of much a star the vocalist (Jared) really is. He knows how to command a stage and has an overwhelming presence. The minute I saw Jared in action, I knew I had to sign the band. Of equal importance, he's got an amazing vocal range and a fresh style compared to what's out there today."
Conner’s interest was piqued after hearing two sets of demos the band recorded recently with producer Jason Suecof at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida (Trivium, God Forbid). But the band took the bull by the horns and sealed the deal by delivering a self-financed, homemade video for their fans’ favorite track, "Zeppo."
Regarding the video, Jared says "Our director Ramon Boutviseth knew of this abandoned prison that was built in the 1930’s. It was really dusty in there, not to mention the fact that everything had been originally painted with lead paint, which was now hanging off the ceilings and walls like dead skin after a sunburn. One of the best things about the shoot was the fact that it was an experiment for us and Ramon - none of us having ever shot a video before. We all think it turned out great, but what wasn't so great was the fact that we were all sick for a couple weeks afterward…"
"'Zeppo' is a song that we wrote a number of years ago," continues Jared, "and even after our last session in the studio, we still felt it was one of our strongest songs. The title 'Zeppo' is a little obscure, but we feel it fits. It comes from a TV show we were watching, where one of the characters says he feels like a Zeppo, meaning Zeppo Marx, the only Marx Brother who never did anything. In the show, this character ends up saving the day. In a way, I guess it's one of those songs about being the underdog. Both the song and the video are indicative of what it's like for us to completely immerse ourselves in SANCTITY and our efforts to be heard."
"We're all really excited about joining the Roadrunner family, and look forward to jumping right into the thick of it," enthuses Jared. “It was a long road getting here but we couldn't ask for better people to work with. We look forward to making a record that will explode some heads out there!"
Sanctity is managed by Justin Arcangel and Brian Heafy of Dark Angel Management and will record their Roadrunner debut this summer with Jason Suecof for a fall 2006 release. In the meantime, the demo version and video of "Zeppo" can be found on Roadrunner's site as well as the band's MySpace page and official site.
