Ghoulunatics Begin Work On New Album

Montreal deathcore act GHOULUNATICS have commenced work on their fifth studio album. "We've been jamming acoustically for a couple of weeks to get the song structures down in a calm environment," the band write. "We went into our jam room last Friday to test the new ideas out and they sound great! They have that groove that can just hook you in and get you taping your foot to the beat! So all is going well.

"We will be recording a three-song demo at the end of January that we will present to a couple of local booking agencies who specialize in booking festivals hoping to get in on some bigger outside festivals around the province of Quebec this summer. After that's done, we'll keep working on the rest of the songs. We're working on ideas for about 10 songs right now, and more will surely be added as the weeks go by. We're really happy with how things are going so far. The guys are really into it and can't wait to get back into the studio. I can't wait to hear what kind of sick lyrics Pat will come up with this time around! No date has been scheduled for the studio yet, but I think it should be before the summer. We will probably go back to Wildsound studio, that place is magic and we look forward to working with [producer] Pierre Remillard again."

GHOULUNATICS released a 10th anniversary DVD, "Blood Curdling Years", last year via Galy Records/F.A.B. distribution.

Shadowkeep Working On New Album

U.K. power metallers SHADOWKEEP have now completed all the rhythm parts for the new album, the title of which is still under wraps. Drummer Scott Higham and bassist Stony Grantham entered Thin Ice Studios just before Christmas to lay down all their parts and the results have been "stunning," according to a press release. Guitarists Chris Allen and Nicki Robson will continue the recording process in February when they go in to track their parts before new singer Richie Wicks (ex-ANGEL WITCH, TYGERS OF PAN TANG) puts the finishing touches on the effort at the end of that month. The band hope to have the album completed and ready to promote by late April and certainly in time for their planned festival appearances this summer. As a taster, registered members of their web site, shadowkeepmetal.net, can download the first sample of new track "Ten Shades of Black", which is the first full and completed recording made by the new lineup. Reaction by the band's fans have been "wild and full of praise," and as promised, the sound — although maintaining the trademark SHADOWKEEP composition expertise — also has a new tighter, harder more darker edge to it.

Anthrax Rocks Chicago's House Of Blues

What better way to spend Friday the 13th (January) than at an ANTHRAX show? With all the old 80’s bands coming back around, it gives us/you the chance to see them live if you have never seen them back in the day. Believe me these bands still know how to rock and Anthrax (currently on tour) is no exception.

First came, Manntis. The crowd was thin. With guitarist Adair (from MTV Fame – Battle for Ozzfest) Jake, Dan and Josh, they held there own. You will be seeing a lot more of theses guys. More...
