"We're currently planning our next sonic assault on Europe and the world!
"I have recently severed all connections with my management company. Society 1 To Perform Acoustic Set At NAMM
SOCIETY 1 will perform a acoustic set at the Greg Bennett/Silvertone booth (Booth 4351, Hall C) on Friday, January 20 at the following times: 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The set will consist of songs from their latest CD, "The Sound That Ends Creation". All members will be present in between sets to answer questions and give out some free promotional copies of their latest DVD, "The Strangest Life I've Ever Known".
Frontman Matt "The Lord" Zane had this to say: "We rarely get to perform acoustic sets. It is so odd for us to just sit down and play without all the blood, women and riots. It's kind of amusing that we will be entering the New Year with such a mellow show but then again we have always been about going in the opposite direction of what is expected."
SOCIETY 1 have reportedly parted ways with Earache Records, the label that issued "The Sound That Ends Creation" in February 2005. The band have yet to announce a new label home.

Nebula Prepare To Release New Album
Two and a half years after Liquor and Poker Music launched with Atomic Ritual, the acclaimed third release from L.A. power trio Nebula, the upstart rock indie comes full circle with the group’s new album "Apollo." Due Feb. 21, the record is a cosmic cocktail of heavy riffs, electric blues and psychedelic space rock.
Produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones, Misfits, L7) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Mars Volta, Sonic Youth, Franz Ferdinand), and recorded mostly at Hollywood Sound Recorders (Danzig, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers), the 14-track album sees the addition of new bassist Tom Davies. It also features a bonus live video of new song "Future Days" recorded during Nebula's Japanese tour last spring. A demo of another new track, "Lightbringer," is currently available on the new Century Family/Hot Topic compilation Metal For The Masses Volume Four, as well as Liquor and Poker Music samplers included with the new releases by labelmates The Thieves and Fireball Ministry.
Formed in 1997 after vocalist/guitarist Eddie Glass and drummer Ruben Romano left desert rock pioneers Fu Manchu, Nebula released two acclaimed full-lengths on Sub Pop Records, along with three notable EPs, prior to signing with Liquor and Poker. During the group's formative years, they toured with the likes of Nashville Pussy, Mudhoney, Corrosion of Conformity and The Hellacopters, among others.
Since finishing basic tracks for Apollo, Nebula has already done one nationwide tour (including a showcase at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City) and performed high-profile hometown gigs at ESPN’s X-Games and the annual Sunset Junction festival, the latter alongside the likes of New York Dolls, Eagles of Death Metal and Burning Brides. Expect an announcement regarding 2006 touring plans in the coming weeks.

Korn To Test New Business Model
In a first of its kind for the music industry, Grammy-winning rock band KORN announced today that it is teaming up with Live Nation, the world's leading live entertainment company, in a unique, exclusive joint venture. The innovative set of deals expands on the unprecedented partnership KORN created with EMI Music in September.
Under the agreements, Live Nation, EMI and KORN will partner in and share in the results of the band's overall career — including their recording, publishing, touring, merchandising, sponsorship, and other activities. All parties are incentivized financially and creatively to work with KORN's management company, Beverly Hills-based The Firm, to take a long-term approach to building the KORN brand. Each will use its diverse and significant expertise and resources toward the common goal of bolstering KORN's worldwide presence and value.
"This is about shifting power back to artists by finding strategic partners who are the best in their respective businesses and incentivizing them to work in unison to attain common goals consistent with the band's goals," said Jeff Kwatinetz, CEO of the The Firm. "We are thrilled to be in business with Live Nation and especially with its forward-thinking new CEO Michael Rapino. Not only is Live Nation a superb concert promoter, it is a stellar marketing, promotion and production company. This deal allows them to focus not just on selling concert tickets, but on fully investing in the KORN brand. We believe this venture will pave a new way of doing business for musical artists in the future."
"Creating a fan-focused industry will require new approaches and unconventional deals," said Michael Rapino, CEO of Live Nation. "In this new era, we're bringing our branding, concert industry expertise and resources and collaborating with the best partners for one clear objective — to foster long-term artist development. KORN's years of success in touring make them a natural partner for this kind of initiative."
KORN's Jonathan Davis said: "Our partnership with EMI really opened our eyes that there are other ways to succeed in the music business that don't involve always fighting with our record company. They want what we want and we couldn't be happier with Virgin, EMI and David Munns. We expect that adding Live Nation to our team will also have a real impact on our careers."
"EMI was first to recognize the logic and potential of going beyond the traditional record label/artist relationship and creating partnerships that allowed us to be part of an artists' overall career," said David Munns, chairman and CEO, EMI Music North America. "We are delighted that Live Nation is also breaking the mold and joining with us. Live Nation's interests will be completely aligned with ours, and because KORN is one of the most electrifying live acts performing today, having Live Nation's concert expertise in the mix makes complete sense."

A representative for Ozzy Osbourne has issued the following statement regarding Ozzy's previously announced guitarisst search:
"Ozzy would like to thank everyone who took the time to send in submissions to be his new guitar player. At the time we announced the search, Zakk Wylde's itinerary with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY was quite overwhelming. Fortunately, Zakk has now been able to go back and rearrange his schedule to make sure that he would be available to write, record and tour with Ozzy in 2006 and beyond. Therefore, the search for a new axe man has been called off. We sincerely apologize to all of the talented musicians (and there were lots of them) who were excited by this incredible opportunity and we wish you the best of luck with all of your future musical endeavors."
Children Of Bodom Bassists Checks In From Austria
Children of Bodom bassist, Henkka T. Blacksmith, has checked in with the following update on their European tour with Ektomorf and One Man Army and the Undead Quartet:
"Wörgl, Austria 3rd of January 2006
"One week already behind. The tour we've been waiting for so much. And it's been great so far. Couldn't believe how many people has been checking the shows so far. It's been almost 3 years when we last toured here, and we missed this scene.
"Once again, both bands we are touring with here are great. We didn't know them before, but they are super cool. Again our beloved neighbours from Sweden, One Man Army, and our far far back in time , sort of relatives, Hungarian Ektomorf play good set every night. Good drinking buddies too.
"New year's eve in Switzerland was huge party with all the crew and all the bands. Good times, good times. Next day in Milan was luckily a dayoff, i think no one would have been able to play a single note after the amounts we drank in Z7.
"Today we are here in Austria, Wörgl. Lots of snow and mountains around. Looking forward to the show tonight, since Austrian people has always been wild on our shows in the past.
"Cheers for everybody who´s been part of this tour. Hate Crews Cologne, Tilburg, Antwerp, Leipzig, Pratteln and Milan.

Rammstein To Be Sued By Cannibal?
Contactmusic.com reports that Rammstein could be facing legal action from an imprisoned cannibal over allegations they used his crime to inspire a hit song.
Armin Meiwes was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison for eating a man he met over the internet, and is now furious his life story has been used in Rammstein song "Mein Teil" (= "My Piece").
Widely sold in both Germany and the US, the track reportedly referred to the Meiwes case, which re-opens on Thursday (January 12) with the prosecution pushing for an extension of Miewes' sentence to life imprisonment.
The man-eater escaped the maximum penalty in an earlier trial because his victim consented to be killed.
Avenged Sevenfold Offered Slot On Ozzfest 2006
According to Billboard.com, Avenged Sevenfold have been offered a slot on Ozzfest 2006. Frontman M. Shadows comments: "We're probably going to go to Europe but there are a lot of tours going on. We're not really sure what's going on with Ozzfest. They've been offering stuff but we're not really sure who is headlining. They won't tell us and they want us to commit now but we won't do that until we know who is headlining. We might just get out of the country and do a [U.S.] tour after the summer."
