Interview

Interview With Brandon Sullivan Of Burning Alive

In late August of 2005, six young Southeast Iowa musicians joined together to form BURNING ALIVE. The band cites influences from Children Of Bodom to Slayer to Pantera and Lamb of God. They are putting a new album together and are planning to embark on a multi-state tour this coming summer, reaching as far as Los Angeles, California. They are certainly still in that very raw development stage but I think you'll agree when hearing their music that these guys have serious potential to achieve some great things. And part of what I am here to do is not to only feature those acts that have already made it to that certain higher level in the business but it's also to help foster along the much younger groups that deserve it because they seem to have great work ethic for what they are doing and that limitless passion for expressing themselves in the heavy music format. I got this new Q&A in with their friendly lead vocalist, Brandon Sullivan aka Sully. More...

Murder One Singer Has 'Near Death' Experience

Murder One singer Paul Catten nearly died during routine surgery. The band has issued the following update:

"The future of Murder One continued to be cursed as vocalist Paul Catten recently ended up on a Life Support Machine after routine surgery for his appendix went terribly wrong.

Paul was taken into hospital for suspected appendicitus shortly before xmas. After 24 hours observation it was decided to carry out the normally routine surgery on the Sunday morning. At 12 30pm on the Sunday, Paul was given a full anaesthetic and immediately suffered a severe allergic reaction, which resulted in a cardiac arrest. Once resuscitated and his condition stabilised, the appendix was removed and Paul was put into a drug-induced coma for 24 hours and kept on a Life Support Machine for the duration. He eventually woke at 9 30pm on the Monday. He remained in hospital for several days as to recover from both trauma and surgery.

He is now fully recovered, though still shaken and currently looking forward to the bands tour with Textures in late Feb.

The curse continues.

Bleed The Sky Announce New Second Guitarist

As the final addition to their new line-up, BLEED THE SKY has brought in Rob Thornton to take the place of Wayne Miller on guitar. Thornton played alongside current second BLEED THE SKY guitarist Dave Culbert in the metal band Brotherhood based out of San Antonio, Texas. Thornton and Culbert make a lethal duo that will be contributing heavily to the new BLEED THE SKY as-yet-untitled record to be produced by Fear Factory's Christian Olde Wolbers.

One of the unavoidable after-effects of the illness Miller suffered while on BLEED THE SKY's Summer Of Sin tour with Dope in 2006 was significant nerve damage to his left hand. He is currently undergoing physical therapy in Orange County, California, and has been told that he can expect a complete recovery within six to eight months. In the meantime, Miller will be co-managing the band alongside Archetype Management and will still take an active role in BLEED THE SKY-related business decisions and negotiations.

The following is a statement from Wayne Miller:

"Rob Thornton is by far the best pick for BLEED THE SKY. I don't feel that anyone else can fill this position better than him. He is a phenomenal guitar player and a true brother to me and the rest of the guys. The BLEED THE SKY guys are my family and the band is my life, but due to the injuries that I suffered while on the Dope tour, I cannot perform with them right now, so I have to step back and do what is best for the band. In the meantime, I am going to assist in managing them to stay involved with 'the family business.' I am just very fortunate to still be alive."
