Rossi Predicts Long Future For Rock Star Supernova

Rock Star Supernova frontman Lukas Rossi spoke with the Boston Herald in a Q&A, and asked the Canadian if he's thought much about the future of the band, as in another tour and another record. "You know, brother, you're the first to ask about the next record," Rossi responded. "I've done a thousand interviews and no one has asked about the next record. No one seems to get it. We're going to be around a long time. We're going to be a force to be reckoned with. And I'll tell you this, there's going to be a lot more of me on the next record."

MTV.com Covers Watain's Live Experience

Chris Harris and Jon Wiederhorn of MTV.com report: "Erik Danielsson, the malevolent singer/bassist fronting Swedish black-metal magicians WATAIN, doesn't have a flip bone in his body. To see WATAIN perform live is nothing if not a pestilent experience, which is just the way Danielsson wants it. Instead of fake blood, WATAIN drench the crowd with what the frontman maintains is real blood, collected "from the WATAIN cellars, of course". The band actually douses itself in the same blood during sets, which, when coupled with sweat, creates a pong on their bus a label spokesperson described as "that of an open grave".

From the stage, Danielsson has "seen people both crying and vomiting at the same time". He's even watched fans "taking the blood that we've thrown at them and licking it up off the floor, and giving this genuine impression of being psychopaths all of a sudden".

He said he often wonders "what those people thought when they woke up that morning, in their clean little beds at home. Did they think that they would stand and lick blood from the floor at the concert halls? We aim to present a different reality to them, because this reality exists far away from the nice little houses with clean beds. That is what happens at a WATAIN gig, and we look forward to bringing this to the US, because it's fertile soil for such experiments. It's all about wild, raw fire and getting loose. Some people can take it. Some can't."

Additionally, Watain will head out on tour with Celtic Frost, Kreator, and Legion Of The Damned in March. Here are the tour dates: More...

Interview

Interview With Randy Ross of Proven

PROVEN out of Portland, Oregon formed late in the summer of 2005. They have begun to quickly build a strong fan following throughout the Pacific Northwest, showing all very quickly that they are embraced on a nationwide audience as well by way of the attention garnered via traditional and XM radio satellite broadcasting. The band is now at its most pivotal juncture as they begin to record their debut full-length album with producer/engineer Billy Graziadei of Biohazard and Suicide City fame. Couple this with the fact that this act understands the furthering legacy of hardcore music rests in their very hands, Proven is a heavy music act to keep your eyes and ears open for. I am absolutely thrilled to have gotten this opportunity to conduct a Q&A session with the band's guitarist/vocalist, Randy Ross. More...

Pig Destroyer Recording New Album

PIG DESTROYER has entered Omega Studios (BAD BRAINS) in Rockville, MD to begin recording its new full-length album, titled "Phantom Limb". The follow-up to 2004's "Terrifyer" will feature 14 all-new songs from the heralded grindcore troupe and artwork by John Baizley (BARONESS, TORCHE). Advance songtitles include: "Cemetery Road", "Rotten Yellow", "Jupiter's Eye", "Heathen Temple" and "The Machete Twins".

Commented PIG DESTROYER vocalist JR Hayes: "We're recording to two-inch analog tape, which is really exciting. The drums sound HUGE, and the guitar tones are really nasty and aggressive. Brian's been on top of his game all year, busting out easily the fastest blast beats I've ever seen him play. As usual, Scott's written a whole arsenal of scalding riffs, but I feel like he really outdid himself with the arrangements on this record. The songs feel great and we've been having a load of fun playing them for the last five months. It's the 14 most deranged metal songs we could make up, so get ready to sink your f*cking teeth in."

Added guitarist Scott Hull: "We're excited about 'Phantom Limb' because it all seems to be coming together in a much different way than our past discs. We set the date for the studio, THEN we fired up the muse to write the material. The process has became much faster, more focused, and with all the energy intact and sharpened. It has also been a hugely positive experience to be able to just be the guitarist, rather than the guy behind the button as well. Just wait until you hear it."

In other news, PIG DESTROYER recently made its long-standing trio a quartet with the addition of Blake Harrison (TRIAC) to the fold. PIG DESTROYER has also been confirmed to co-headline at this year's Los Angeles Murderfest on Sunday, March 25 along with BRUTAL TRUTH, CRETIN, and many more. Additional PIG DESTROYER live appearances will be announced shortly.

Interview

Interview with James of Burnt Offerings

BURNT OFFERINGS is a straight ahead metal act from Spokane, Washington that just newly formed in August, 2005. This is a group of friends who are working tirelessly to put themselves on the musical map and to continue getting a tighter sound and band identity for everyone to embrace. It's one of the favorite parts of my job is to scout out young acts like this - amid the more seasoned, label attached bands - because guys like this just flatout remind you why heavy metal music is such a great world to be in: honor, friendship and diehard commitment to the music genre itself, by any means necessary. I got some Q&A in with their highly spirited lead guitar player, James. More...

Interview with Clayton Evans of Blood Tribe

Evansville, Indiana's Blood Tribe have really started to make a name for themselves on their local scene, while working hard on getting their debut album completed. The band cites Testament, Machine Head and Slayer as their main influence but seem to have their own unique heavy music sound and identity developing. WIth other compelling hard-hitting metal acts around them as they begin to make their rise form obscurity, Blood Tribe seems to really have its head on straight as a musical unit, with full understanding that a band and its members need to work ten times harder than the next act behind them if they are truly going to have that rare chance of scoring a record deal. I had the opportunity to get some Q&A in with their friendly drummer, Clayton Evans. More...

Interview With Drew From 7 Days Of Pain

Evansville, Indiana's 7 Days Of Pain is a local favorite from what's developed into one of the more potent metal scenes in the States. Having shared the stage with other notable Indiana metal names such as Blood Tribe and Deliver Us From Evil, 7 Days Of Pain is currently at work on their debut album. Based off the early demos from this talented bunch, they seem to find themselves in a promising position should they be able to produce something even a tad bit more polished, they just might find themselves soon getting numerous indie record deal offers, for they clearly have serious songwriting talent. I got some Q&A in with their lead vocalist, Drew. More...
