Megalith Grave Announces "From Effigies Past"

Today, Signal Rex sets October 13th as the international release date for Megalith Grave's "From Effigies Past," a compilation of the band's super-rare demo tapes. Playing raw putrid black metal exclusively, this one-man band has built up a sizable discography devoted to the darkest past of the ancient black metal underground.

Strictly limited to 200 copies, the "From Effigies Past" CD compiles the demos "Insidious Dark" (2011), "Through Clandestine Thickets" (2012), and "Embittered Isolation" (2013). Totaling 14 tracks in an hour, here Megalith Grave unleashes a torrent of utterly dead, impossibly grim metal done the way in the days before social media and "diehard" vinyl, before the veil of mysticism was pulled back to reveal normal human beings.

Vuur Posts Album Trailer, Reveals Track Listing

Anneke van Giersbergen's new band Vuur just unveiled the cover artwork and track listing for forthcoming debut album, "In This Moment We Are Free - Cities." The 11-track LP is due for release on October 20th via InsideOut Music and a teaser trailer featuring snippets from the release can be heard below.

The album will be available on special edition CD digipak, gatefold 2LP + CD (including etching on side D) & digital download. Pre-orders start today via this location.

Regarding the cover artwork, band founder Anneke says: "The cover is designed by Black & Finch with whom I've previously worked on the 'Verloren Verleden' release.

"The lyrical themes of this album revolve around cities and freedom. Exposure to big cities can be overwhelming and you can feel engulfed by everything around you. At the same time it's easy to be a stranger in a big city and for me that brings out a feeling of freedom as well.

"This past year I've thought a lot about the virtues of rural versus urban life, since me and my family are moving back to the city. It's very exciting, but at the same time I know that sense of urban solitude from past experiences. The cover artwork represents this duality."

02. Time - Rotterdam
03. The Martyr And The Saint - Beirut
04. The Fire - San Francisco

Caligula's Horse Posts "Will's Song"

Caligula's Horse recently announced the release of upcoming fourth studio album, "In Contact," due out September 15th, 2017 via Inside Out Music.

Now the band is pleased to reveal the first track from that album, a riff-heavy, progressive metal tour-de-force titled "Will's Song (Let The Colours Run)." Listen in below.

Guitarist Sam Vallen comments: "'Will's Song' is something special for us. It's dark and heavy, especially by C Horse standards, but it never feels like a compromise between those traits and the melody and colour we strive for.

"This track embodies the possibilities of our new line-up. Josh and Adrian have toured with us for a while now, but Will's Song finally shows what they're capable of, and how much we've all grown as a group through the changes. It's a massive step forward for Caligula's Horse." More...

Terrortron Releases Surprise Album

Still reeling from the quickly sold out double vinyl release of "Hexed" and "Necrophiliac Among the Living Dead" last week, horror synthwave project Terrortron (Anders Manga / Bloody Hammers) quietly released a new album today without any forewarning.

"Orgy Of The Vampires" is a new 11 track opus featuring dirty vintage synths and exotic percussion. In the spirit of the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Recording themes of the group's previous records, the album synopsis for "Orgy" goes like this:

“A society of vampires with a thirst for bad guys, transform a young nun. When they learn from the new recruit that the 1981 International Gathering of Priests is coming to town, a FEAST is planned on the most corrupt and SINFUL!”

Sifting Responds To Trump's Raise Act

As a direct response to the Trump administration’s proposed Raise Act, Venezuelan-American progressive metal outfit Sifting just unveiled a video for new single "Not From Here." The video was directed by Abelardo Malpica at LH FILM.

"Not from Here" also serves as the title track taken from an upcoming full-length album produced by Ryan Williams (Velvet Revolver, Rage Against the Machine) and Steve Evetts (Senses Fail, Suicide Silence), set for worldwide release on September 29th, 2017 via Eclipse Records.

“We can't forget that this beautiful nation was built by immigrants. That diversity has contributed to the development of this great nation,” states vocalist and frontman Eduardo Gil. “The intent of the proposed Perdue-Cotton Raise Act is to curb the level of legal immigration by proposing a merit-based system that grades immigrants based solely on their skills. When I first moved here from Venezuela, I thought I needed to fit in, lose my accent, and dress like everyone in Los Angeles. After reflection however, I realized that I would have been lying to myself. 'Not From Here' was written about overcoming this dilemma which is something all immigrants think about. We don’t need to erase our heritage, or try to fit in. This is a free country and that’s why this nation is great!”

You can also catch Sifting performing live on these upcoming dates:

July 28 – Pomona, CA @ Character’s Sports Bar (w/ Sorrowseed)
September 13 – Los Angeles, CA @ Silverlake Lounge (w/ Obey the Wolves & Shattered Systems) More...

The Lurking Fear Releases New Video

Swedish death metal group The Lurking Fear will soon release debut album “Out Of The Voiceless Grave” worldwide. The album is set to drop next week on August 11th, 2017 via Century Media Records.

A new single entitled “The Starving Gods Of Old” is being launched today via a lyric video created by Costin Chioreanu / Twilight 13 Media, based on the album’s artwork by Stefan Thanneur. Check it out below.

The Lurking Fear’s vocalist Tomas Lindberg commented: “So, for the next video clip we had the idea of letting our old friend Costin work on it, but having him use Stefan’s amazing cover artwork. I think Costin really captured the eeriness of the track 'The Starving Gods Of Old' perfectly. It feels like you are thrown into the darkened void of the starving gods themselves, being devoured by them alive, while getting your ears blasted by another serious dose of twisted death metal madness. The song is like an anthem to what lurks beyond this world. Like watching an old 70´s horror movie on a worn out VHS cassette." More...

Couple that with the most off the wall videos we have ever produced, and I think we are really onto something with this new release.

"Most importantly we're excited to bring these new tracks to the European audiences when we tour alongside Polish legends Decapitated through October and November.
