Empyrean Throne Strides Forward Into Chaos

You might recall the name Empyrean Throne from a Pit Story earlier this year all about the respecting the stage and the band's personal space while performing.

Fast forward a few months and this chaos-worshiping symphonic black metal horde has now released a devastating new album via rising star label M-Theory Audio.

With "Chaosborne" out now (grab your copy at Bandcamp here), we got in touch with vocalist Andrew Knudsen from this California crew to chat about signing record deals, recording albums, and a sad lack of metal venues.

Check out the full interview below, along with a smattering of music from the album, including some musings on that long-lost Dimmu Borgir album and the likes of Game Of Thrones (massive, world-shattering spoilers are found below if you aren't caught up with season 7) and indie Lovecraftian horror flicks. Of Men And Angels Flesh Calls It Quits

OMAAF (Of Men And Angels Flesh) has decided to call it quits after a decade of playing. The band issued this statement to fans:

"Time for the important announcement. After much contemplation, we have decided to go no further with OMAAF. We've been together for 10 amazing years and have played many unforgettable shows with many unforgettable bands. We planned on recording another album but this is just not the time. As it stands, the Obituary show we played earlier this year was our last show.

"Thank you to all the people who have supported us throughout the years. I wish we could've given all of you more before the end. In the meantime check out Adlet featuring Casey and Jason. Also check back with us one more time in the near future for a very important update on a future project.

"Again, thank you to all the fans, our friends and family, the local bands, David Jones and Reaction Media, Music City Booking, the amazing venues in Alabama and everyone who was with us since the beginning and throughout this adventure. OMAAF will from now on be on indefinite hiatus but this is not the end of our music career. Thank you so much." More...

Daydream XI Premieres "A Cup Of Agony"

Brazilian outfit Daydream XI recently signed to Sensory Records and is gearing up to release "The Circus Of The Tattered And Torn" on six-panel digipak CD with a 28 page booklet and via digital formats on September 22nd.

This high octane mixture of full force metal with power and prog sounds is highly recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Symphony X, and Pain Of Salvation.

Ahead of next month's release, today we're excited to exclusively premiere new song "A Cup Of Agony." Think you can drink all the way through to the last drop? Find out below!

Vocalist / guitarist Tiago Masseti comments: "We are very excited that our first live appearance in the U.S. will be at ProgPower USA. The festival's audience and crew have been supporting us since we released our first album and it couldn't be more appropriate to bring this new material to them first hand.

"In the song 'A Cup Of Agony' we join the Stuntman, one of the attractions of the Circus, as he reflects about the concept of pain. He draws a parallel between physical and psychological pain and how either affects us and get us addicted.

"Doing his stunts, he deals with physical pain on a daily basis, turning it into entertainment. And as a performer and someone who takes such an aggressive element of human life and turns it into art he deals with a great deal of psychological pain. And he drinks from this cup, feeding his pain in the quest for attention and recognition. And he nurtures it, endlessly." More...

Saiva To Release New Album "Markerna Bortom"

Far to the north, beyond the noise and rule of civilization, lies a vast and untamed landscape. It’s a place untouched by time, free from the destructive influence of man. Yet, it echoes of an ancient heritage. But whisper in the wind, it still speaks stronger and clearer to those who are willing to listen. It’s a land enchanted by myths and stories about man and nature, that of cruelty and beauty and harsh duality of the wilderness. These are the stories reflected through Saiva’s stripped-down emotional expression.

After releasing an EP, a split and a single between 2013-2016, Finland's Saiva will unleash the debut full length album "Markerna bortom" on October 13th via Nordvis Production.

Saiva consists of a man who lives and breathes in his Lapland. This is his true artistic expression where he writes, compose and record everything in solitude. As on the previous recordings, good old friend J. Marklund complements this album with his distinctive drumming. Juha from Tervahäät sang and wrote the lyrics for the song Mykät loitsut. He is also responsible for writing a huge part of the background ambience on this record. Austin of Panopticon brought in some Americana and plays the mandolin. Erik, known from Grift, has written the poem "Där vindar vänder" and contributes with his characteristic voice. Even though this record is a product of solitude and quiet reflection, it has come together through the solidarity between like-minded individuals.

The band says that the album "is a unique opportunity for us to take part in a way of life that is indeed unusual in today's society. This album isn’t just a nostalgic glimpse at a forgotten time, but a journey to a place forgotten and untraveled by most."

Featured guest appearances on the record include: J. Kaarna (Tervahäät), Austin Lunn (Panopticon) and Erik Gärdefors (Grift).

The track list is as follows:

1. Lávket
2. Nordmarkens älvar
3. Där vindar vänder
4. Varsel i vildmark
5. Mykät loitsut
6. Nordan More...
