According to Billboard.com, Volcano has set a May 2 North American release date for the new TOOL album, entitled "10,000 Days". The 77-minute, 11-song prog-metal odyssey, which is said to be "packed with plenty of eight minute-plus twisted riff-a-thons, odd-tempo polyrhythms and the band's trademark, eerie interludes" (according to Kerrang! magazine), is the follow-up to 2001's "Lateralus", which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 2.3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
As previously reported, TOOL will play their first U.S. show since late 2002 when it headlines the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on April 30 in Indio, Calif. No other U.S. dates have been confirmed.
Afterward, TOOL will spend the first portion of the summer playing the European festival circuit, with dates on tap through July 9 at Finland's Turku Festival.

Guitarist Henrik Johansson of the Swedish black metal band APOSTASY was murdered in his home Wednesday night/Thursday morning (March 8/9). "According to the police, his girlfriend stabbed him without known reason in his heart area and he bled to death before the ambulance showed up!" Edin said.
Added Fredric: "Rest in peace, dear brother and friend." More...
DEVILDRIVER frontman Dez Fafara (ex-COAL CHAMBER) has told MTV.com that the band will hit the road late spring for seven U.S. shows in support of VENOM.
"I'm doing it just to get the shirt," he joked.
While Fafara said his summer's still wide open — he believes DEVILDRIVER will tour in July and August as part of a big U.S. festival, but confirmed that the quintet "won't be doing Ozzfest and we won't be doing Sounds of the Underground." He added that there will be another headlining run kicking off in mid-September, with dates scheduled into early December. No accompanying bands have been confirmed for the trek yet, but Dez promises another brutal bill.
Before the year's out, Fafara hopes to have at least enough new songs written for DEVILDRIVER's third album, which he said they could start recording by this time next year. He said they've written four songs while they've been on the road and they're "heavy and brutal with lots of hooks, but definitely more technical — there's going to be a lot more riffage, because we want to kick it up for this next album."
Launch Radio Networks reports: ROB ZOMBIE is known for his spectacular live shows, but he's scaling things back a bit on his upcoming spring tour. Zombie told Launch that he still wants to give fans their money's worth without taking the focus off the music. "What I want to do is make it a big rock show where the human element of the band never gets lost, because I feel like that's what happened before a little bit," he explained. "It was a huge rock show, but the band was getting lost. This time I want to strike that delicate balance where, you know, you're getting the big show, but not to a point where the band becomes secondary to explosions."
Zombie begins a headlining U.S. tour on March 17 in Jacksonville, Florida, with LACUNA COIL and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE along as support.
The touring line-up for Zombie's band includes longtime bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson, ex-MARILYN MANSON guitarist John 5 and former ALICE COOPER drummer Tommy Clufetos.
The former WHITE ZOMBIE frontman will be the featured musical guest on NBC-TV's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Wednesday, March 15.
Zombie's new album, "Educated Horses", comes out on March 28. The first single from the album, called "Foxy, Foxy", is accompanied by a video directed by Zombie.
Long-running Italian black/thrash metallers NECRODEATH have announced the addition of rhythm guitarist Pier Gonella (LABYRINTH) to the group's ranks. Gonella joins the band as the replacement for Claudio, who recently left NECRODEATH for personal reasons.
NECRODEATH have finished recording their sixth studio album, "100% Hate", and will fly to Sweden in the near future for the final mastering. The follow-up to 2003's "Ton(e)s of Hate" was recorded at Outer Sound studios in Rome and features a guest appearance by VENOM frontman Conrad "Cronos" Lant.
Cronos had the following to say following his recording session: "I've liked NECRODEATH since their first album - great intensity and enthusiasm, as well as heavy as fuck. It was a pleasure to record my voice for one of their new songs. Their new album promises to be a monster-sized slice of intense metal. Can't fuckin' wait. Hell yeah!!!"
Due on April 17 via Scarlet Records, "100% Hell" is described in a press release as "the most diverse NECRODEATH album to date, containing 10 furious tracks spanning from the fast thrashing assault of the mid-eighties to the groove-oriented sonic holocaust displayed with the latest efforts."
NECRODEATH's current lineup is completed by vocalist Flegias (CADAVERIA), guitarist Andy (ANDRASTA), bassist John (CADAVERIA, DYNABYTE, RAZA DE ODIO) and drummer Peso (RAZA DE ODIO).
Milwaukee's Broken Aside will enter the studio on April 16h with Adam Tucker to record their debut full-length, titled "Waking Life." According to guitarist Scott Okarma, "The CD's message is similar to the idea's presented in the film Waking Life, as well as other provocative books and films. We are really attempting to create a CD that is profound both musically, and aesthetically." Funeral Verse Records will release the effort in early-June.
Into Eternity have issued an album update and announced the return of original drummer Jim Austin, at least for the recording of thenew album. Here's the update:
"The new album is still underway for us. Right now we are looking at 11 songs for the new album. Each song is a bit more compact compared to what we usually have done in the past. Seven of the songs clock in at just over 3 minutes. I thought it would be different to try to fit in multiple time changes and riffs/solos in a shorter time frame. I know I have a low attention span when it comes to long songs, movies or whatever the case may be, so it is a small change for us. Every song is going to still have a lot going on, so our style will still be intact."
"Now on to the main reason for this update. Into Eternity would like to welcome back our original drummer Jim Austin, who will be playing on our new record. Everybody is familiar with Jim's drumming style from our albums "Into Eternity" , "Dead or Dreaming" and "Buried In Oblivion". We are all happy that Jim is willing to help us out with this new record."
"Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we should point out that this arrangement is just for the recording of the album. Jim has a good job now that we wouldn't want him to lose. I think that this will be a good step for us and it will help maintain our sound that we have crafted for almost 10 years now."

FHM caught up with Lacuna Coil frontwoman Cristina Scabbia, and asked the singer how she's treated by her male fans. "They're nice in front of me," she said. "They don't behave like female groupies do with guys. If a male fan showed me his private parts, I would be like, 'What the fu** do you want?' I'd also laugh at a guy who was convinced that he could get me with such a stupid trick." Other topics include cooking, if “Italians do it better” and her penne pasticciate recipe.

The results are simply the best Zero Hour has ever had and we are excited to share a 2 minute clip of the song "Evidence of the Unseen". Checking in from Canada on the Enemy Of God II tour (Kreator, NAPALM DEATH, A Perfect Murder, and The Undying), NAPALM DEATH vocalist Barney Greenway said, "The tour with Kreator has been really great for us so far, and in many places even better than we expected. In truth, I don't think Napalm has ever really been a 'flavor of the month' band, but what has been good is that even Kreator's more traditional thrash fans that might not really care for Napalm, have been taken back by our intensity and have said they will check out our albums. It's been good and if we haven't seen you yet, we'll see you soon.”
NAPALM DEATH will be touring North America with Kreator through the end of March. After the tour’s completion the band will continue working on tracks for the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed album, The Code Is Red… Long Live The Code.
