Cleveland, Ohio's CHIMAIRA have issued the following update via their official web site:
"So as you probably already know we have lined up quite a bit of touring for the next couple of months. We tried to keep this under wraps and make an official announcement with everyone, but with the powers of the Internet these things are impossible. Hell, the singer of KROKUS can't even trim his toenails without Blabbermouth posting it.
"Here is the deal... We are doing a Jager-sponsored tour with ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE, GOD FORBID and the slowest band on the planet, HATE ETERNAL. We can't wait to sit behind Roddy and watch his inhuman speed. We also have prepared a very strong alarm system to watch over our beer, Jager and food so that GOD FORBID can't steal it. Last but not least we are looking forward to sharing the stage with ARCH ENEMY and NEVERMORE for the first time. As fans of every single one of these bands, this will be a great tour. I would even call it the definitive spring metal tour.
"On to this European tour rumor. It is true that we will be on the first U.K./Europe's Sounds Of The Underground tour. With the exception of MANNTIS, this is a kick-ass reunion from last summer for us. SOTU was the most fun we have had on a tour in a long ass time, so it's going to be kick ass to do it all over again. I can't wait to share Cuban recipies with MADBALL, show ALL THAT REMAINS that we are still as psychotic as we were in the fall, play some poker with UNEARTH, watch TERROR keep up their name sake, and hopefully Adair from MANNTIS will make us another pumpkin haha...To sum it up, we look forward to jamming with all of the bands and once again show our appreciation to our amazing fans abroad.
"What else has been going on you ask? Well, two guys in CHIMAIRA have recently become engaged, so congratulations are in order to them! (Way to put the pressure on the rest of us in serious relationships, thanks assholes!) Andols has been getting back into shape both at the gym and with us. I am not bullshitting when I say we sound better then ever before and we have a new fire under our asses so when we get out on that stage look the fuck out! The rest of the guys have grown kick ass mustaches, hopefully they keep them for the touring, and finally for the two months we were off we spent it wisely. We have thirteen songs written for a new record already. We don't plan on stopping yet, we have a ton of more ideas. We hope to get into the studio in the fall. So kiddies...if you want to see CHIMAIRA in 2006, you better make it to these shows. For areas we haven't hit on this cycle yet, don't fret, we are working to get out to you, but if we can't...we promise to be there in '07."
COLDTEARS, the new Swedish band featuring 19-year-old drummer Adam Gelotte (brother of IN FLAMES guitarist Björn Gelotte), have posted their five-song demo on their official web site, coldtears.se. The tracks available for download are as follows:
01. Inside My Head
03. No Tomorrow
05. My Own Grave
David Johansson - Guitar
Gustav Alander - Vocals
Ivar Anås - Guitar
Marcus Dahlström - Bass
Adam Gelotte - Drums
Adam and Björn are not the only Gelotte siblings to be actively involved in playing heavy rock music. Their sister, Emma Gelotte, is one of two female vocalists fronting the Gothenburg-based band ALL ENDS, which also features in its ranks Tinna Karlsdotter on vocals, Michael Håkansson (EVERGREY) on bass, Fredrik Johansson (IN FLAMES' "The Jester Race" album) on guitar and Josef Skansås on drums. Currently unsigned, ALL ENDS' debut demo was recorded at Studio Fredman and Queenstreet Recording in Gothenburg, Sweden by producers Fredrik Nordström and Patrick J. Sten. The music on the CD was composed by Björn Gelotte and Jesper Strömblad of IN FLAMES, while the lyrics were written by Tinna Karlsdotter, Emma Gelotte and Björn Gelotte.
Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH were forced to miss their appearance at the Atarfe Vega Rock festival in Atarfe, Granada, Spain after they were rejected by a Wizzar airlines flight to Spain for having oversized luggage.
"This situation was simply beyond our control," the band write in a statement. "Occasionally we face this kind of problems but it never really ended up like this. We are truly pissed off that we couldn’t get on that plane and were forced to cancel this festival. We haven't really discussed it with organizers yet, but we'll do our best to play there next year if possible. We are sending our biggest apologizes to all who showed up on March 11th in hope to see BEHEMOTH in Spain."
BEHEMOTH will support MORBID ANGEL on their "Masters of Chaos" U.S. tour beginning in early April. Also appearing on the bill are KRISIUN and DESPISED ICON.
UNSANE's “Scattered, smothered, covered” has been re-issued and is now available from Division Records. It’s a co-label edition (RRRecords + Division) in a nice double digipack with “Amrep Christmas live” as second disc. The band will be on tour during Mmarch 2006 across Europe, supporting both their new album, “Blood run,” and “S.S.C”.

DISTURBED were forced to postpone their international tour dates last month after vocalist David Draiman suffered a recurrence of the severe inflammation of the vocal chords that he originally suffered last year.
"Having returned to the live arena too soon after his last vocal problems, recent dates of DISTURBED's North American tour have taken their toll on Draiman's voice and he has been advised by his doctor to take an extended break to ensure a complete recovery," the band's management wrote in a statement.
Ronnie James Dio's (DIO, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) official web site has been updated with the following message:
"Ronnie and company are busy writing a new [DIO] studio record to be released later this year. Touring is expected to gear up in May with a South American jaunt, followed by a European tour commencing May 27 in Belgium. Dates will be announced as soon as they are confirmed, so keep watching the tour page for details."
As previously reported, Eagle Rock Entertainment has set an April 18 North American release date for DIO's "Holy Diver Live" CD (one day earlier internationally). Captured live in 2005 in front of a sold-out London crowd, "Holy Diver Live" sees Ronnie James Dio delivering a truly memorable performance on this truly memorable night. Dio has been hailed as one of the finest voices in heavy metal for over 30 years now and for good reason. Due to his stints in RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH and as a solo artist, Dio is one of the few people in the history of music that can honestly say they have played on three classic albums, each under a different moniker. "Holy Diver Live" features the classic "Holy Diver" album in its entirety, from start to finish, recorded live for the very first time. It also features, among others, "Heaven & Hell", "Sign of the Southern Cross" and "Mob Rules" from his BLACK SABBATH days, "Tarot Woman", "Man on the Silver Mountain" and "Long Live Rock 'N' Roll" from the RAINBOW era and "We Rock" from his solo career.
According to MelodicRock.com, MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee has been in negotiations with the producers of the "Rock Star" show for the last few weeks to take on a star role in the revamped show format. The house band will be retained, with Tommy Lee taking the place of INXS searching for his next "Rock Star" lead vocalist. The winner will front Lee's next studio album and a tour (timing to be determined).
Rumors over who would front the show following INXS' 2005 role have been widespread since the first season finale. After a suitable band could not be found, it was originally decided to gather a group of name musicians and search for a singer for a brand new band — until Lee stepped in, that is. An official announcement is expected within a day or two, but Lee gave this hint away as recently as this week in an interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch:
Q: Any chance of another season of "Tommy Lee Goes to College" or are your academic days over?
Tommy Lee: "In about two days you're gonna hear a statement about something new. I'm looking at the press release right now, but I can't tell you what it is."
Q: Is it an NBC press release?
Tommy Lee: "No, a different network."
Q: But we'll be seeing you back on TV?
Tommy Lee: "Absolutely."
Oakland, California thrashers DEFIANCE, best known for their seminal late '80s/early '90s Roadrunner releases "Void Terra Firma" and "Beyond Recognition", have inked a deal with Los Angeles-based Corporate Punishment Records. The group will enter Trident Studios in Concord, CA with producer Juan Urteaga (EXODUS, SKINLAB, VILE) this summer to begin work on their fourth album, tentatively due before the end of the year. Upon completion of the LP, the band is looking forward to playing selected shows and festivals. In addition to the new LP, Corporate Punishment Records will also release the band's first long-form DVD, "Decade(s) of Defiance", compiling hours of live performance, interview and archival footage chronicling their nearly 20 years of existence
Part of the so-called “second wave” of Bay Area thrash (which also included the likes of FORBIDDEN, VIO-LENCE, DEATH ANGEL, and TESTAMENT), DEFIANCE officially disbanded in 1993 after the departure of vocalist Steev Esquivel (who would go on to form SKINLAB, and later RE:IGNITION), while the remaining members, with the addition of vocalist Dave Godfrey White (HEATHEN), formed INNER THRESHOLD, which would also eventually disband.
In 2005, rumors of a reformed DEFIANCE sent waves of interest through the burgeoning thrash metal community, until it was finally confirmed that the band had in fact reunited and were at work on their first new material in over a decade.
"I'm really stoked to be playing with DEFIANCE again," says guitarist Jim Adams. "We have been working on some new songs and ideas that are really heavy and complex. We are not moving away from the Bay Area thrash style that people will expect to hear from us, no detuning or anything like that. We are writing pure straight forward thrash metal." Bassist/founder Mike Kauffman adds, "We've been working hard at writing new songs and we're all looking forward to working with Corporate Punishment. We hold ourselves to a very high standard when it comes to songwriting and I'm sure our fans will not be disappointed."
In addition to the classic lineup of Doug Harrington (guitar), Jim Adams (guitar), Mike Kaufmann (bass) and vocalist Steev Esquivel, the LP will also feature ex-VIO-LENCE/TORQUE drummer Mark Hernandez.
Sweden's IN FLAMES have announced a second North American headlining tour in support of their critically acclaimed new album, "Come Clarity". The trek is slated to commence on May 5 and follows the band's recent sold out North American tour of the same name. Support on the IN FLAMES tour will be provided by THROWDOWN, NEVERMORE and EVERGREY. A full tour routing will be announced soon and is expected to include live dates in the following markets: Burlington, VT, Myrtle Beach, SC, Jacksonville, NC, Cincinnati, OH, Ft. Wayne, IN, Grand Rapids, MI, Lawrence, KS, Colorado Springs, CO, Spokane, WA, Tucson, AZ, Tulsa, OK, Memphis, TN and New Orleans, LA, amongst others. Additionally, IN FLAMES will launch a U.S. commercial radio campaign — the first in the band's storied history — in late April. The radio blitz will initially focus on the "Come Clarity" roll-out track, "Take This Life", with a second single from the album to follow.
IN FLAMES' "Come Clarity" has sold 50,000 units in the United States in its first month of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
