Norwegian melodic thrashers SUSPERIA will join US metal gods WASP as “Special Guests” on selected shows of the forthcoming European tour. Some confusion has arisen over which dates the band will play, due to incorrect information being published in certain parts of the media. Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor told England's Kerrang! Radio that the band's upcoming concept album, "Year Zero", could be on its way to the big screen. Reznor said he's already in talks about a film version of the disc, adding, "I'm excited by the prospect of what this has brought to me. We're really looking into things it could be." If a movie version of "Year Zero" is a hit, Reznor would be ready to go with a sequel: a second NINE INCH NAILS album based on the same storyline is reportedly going to be released next year.
"Year Zero" is scheduled for release on April 17.
The album takes place in the year 2022, when the U.S. has been taken over by a fanatical religious government that may be putting drugs in the nation's water supply while citizens are seeing visions of an entity called "the Presence."
A number of hidden web sites have been set up that relate to the concept behind "Year Zero". Clues to the location of the sites have been found on the main NIN site, T-shirts on the band's current European tour, and inside hard drives left behind at stops on the trek.
NINE INCH NAILS is sponsoring a series of listening parties around the country for the album, beginning on March 11 in Salt Lake City, Utah and ending on March 27 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Amon Amarth has posted the second music video, “Cry of the Blackbirds”, from their 2006 release With Oden on Our Side. “Cry of the Blackbirds” was directed by Bill Schacht for Aestheticom. You can check out “Cry of the Blackbirds” here.
Hellyeah have released the track listing to their debut self-titled release due out April 10th via Epic Records. The tracklisting is as follows:
2. You Wouldn’t Know
3. Matter of Time
4. Waging War
5. Alcohaulin’ Ass

Taproot have announced they plan to have recording for their new album wrapped up within the next 2 months and are eyeing an early Summer release date, reportedly via an indie label as the band are said to have parted ways with Atlantic. Canadian thrash metal pioneers EXCITER have parted ways with France's Osmose Productions. The band is currently seeking a new label home for the release of the group's upcoming CD, entitled "Thrash Speed Burn".
EXCITER last fall announced the addition of Brooklyn, New York-based singer Kenny "Metal Mouth" Winter to the group's ranks. "After holding auditions this past summer, the band was blown away with Kenny's three-and-a-half-octave range, delivered with tremendous intensity and conviction," the band previously said in a statement.
Kenny "Metal Mouth" Winter has issued the following statement regarding his addition to the band:
"A big hello to all EXCITER fans worldwide! I want to take a moment to thank John, Clammy and Rik for their support and for the opportunity that has been given to me to perpetuate the legacy of EXCITER. I also want to thank all the fans that have expressed their salutations and support without even having heard my voice. Your acceptance has been overwhelming (literally)!
"I have become aware that there are fans out there that are concerned and/or skeptical about the upcoming album and the direction that it might take with me at the mic. Believe me, guys, I know I have big shoes to fill. To follow in the footsteps of Dan and Jacques will be no easy task, but I intend to storm every continent with the confidence and conviction of an electrical storm. Make no mistake - I-AM-METAL!!!"
Vocalist Jacques Belanger left EXCITER for the third and final time last spring "due to differences of opinion on many issues," according to a press release.
EXCITER's latest CD is "New Testament - Coven of Re-Recorded Classics", a collection of reworked early songs which was released in June 2004 through Osmose Productions.
Extreme Blackened Death Metal titans VITAL REMAINS have returned with a vicious new slab of blasphemy that promises to strike fear in the hearts of the masses. The much-anticipated new album, "Icons of Evil", was produced by the renowned Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, ALAS, MORBID ANGEL, RIPPING CORPSE) and is set for an April 24 release.
The cover art has already created a great deal of controversy, but the band's founder Tony Lazaro (guitars) refuses to censor his vision in any way. "It is great to see that the cover of our new record has already started some controversy," he said. "Some of our distributors saw the artwork and suggested we change it. The record's scheduled to come out around Easter, and apparently the subject of Christ being nailed to his cross is a bit extra-sensitive around that time. We were told no one would take the CD unless we either changed it or put a slipcase over it. I absolutely refused to change shit, but I still wanted our fans to be able to find the album in their local stores, so we ultimately decided to go with the slipcase. I'm still pretty bummed about it, but this was out of my hands.
"I am extremely excited to announce that we've confirmed some amazing European festivals. We are now scheduled to play the Metalmania Fest (Poland), Fuck The Commerce (Germany) and the mighty Wacken Open Air (Germany), which has been a dream of mine for years now. So many great legends have performed at that fest, and it's great be a part of it.
"Our MySpace page now has some cool footage of Dave Suzuki recording the drums to the new track 'Hammer Down The Nails'. We're going to be doing a video for it as soon as we can 'nail down' a date with Glen (Benton, vocals). Speaking of dates, we're also working on a full North American tour for the summer. Stay tuned for more info."
"Icons of Evil" marks the group's second recording with Benton (DEICIDE) on vocals. Lazaro wrote the entire album and handled bass duties for its recording, while Suzuki once again tracked all the drums and lead guitar parts.
Swedish black metallers DARK FUNERAL will make their movie debut in "Club Satan: The Witches Sabbath", written and directed by Shane Bugbee, an actual priest in the Church Of Satan. The entire band appears in the film, which is being touted as "the first-ever Satanic porn," and will be released by the controversial Extreme Associates in March 2007.
DARK FUNERAL not only stars in "Club Satan: The Witches Sabbath", but also contributes its song "King Antichrist" to the movie soundtrack. The scenes featuring the band were shot before and during their show at the Key Club in Hollywood, California on January 21, 2007.
The "Club Satan: The Witches Sabbath" DVD-release party will be held March 21 at Ivar on Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles beginning at 9:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.clubsatan.com
The members of DARK FUNERAL are no strangers to controversy themselves. In 2004 one crazed fan in Chile, Rodrigo Orias, murdered a Catholic priest during a sermon in Santiago. In 2006, the band inadvertently incited a riot in Peru when legions of fans destroyed the venue and vandalized nearby buildings and cars after DARK FUNERAL was forced to perform without its lead singer.
Less than two weeks before the scheduled release of their new album 'The Ascension', Otep are among the first acts dropped due to the merger between Capitol and Virgin Records. Capitol signed the band in 2000 based solely on their performance during the 2000 edition of Ozzfest.
It was previously announced that "The Ascension" had been delayed and the disc would be released "as soon as corporately possible," which seems to mean when they get signed to a new label now.
Former Ozzfest 2nd Stagers Depswa are currently in the studio finishing up material for the follow-up to their Geffen Records, June 2003 release “Two Angels and a Dream.” Guitarist Dan Noonan states, “This is the best material we’ve written to date and it really shows how we’ve matured as musicians and songwriters.” Rough mixes of ‘Performance after the Show’ and ‘Hold On’ have recently been posted on the band’s MySpace page. DEPSWA aim to have the new CD completed sometime in April and released this year through an as-yet undetermined label. The band is currently speaking to a handful of veteran mixing engineers to decide who will handle the mixing duties. Finally, the band are headlining a free show at the Key Club in West Hollywood on Thursday, March 15 with a number of local acts – for tickets contact the band through their MySpace page or e-mail email@example.com
Depswa are currently shopping for new management and/or labels any interested parties should contact the band directly at firstname.lastname@example.org for info.

SICK OF IT ALL drummer Armand Majidi has released the following statement:
"Here's the unfortunate news that everybody feared: the European tour has to be cancelled. Even after canceling the U.S. tour with DROPKICK MURPHYS, we don't feel there's enough time for Lou [Koller, vocals] to make a full recovery [from a recent back injury] between now and the start of the European tour in late March. This injury was much worse and the recovery much slower than we expected. Taking this extra time for Lou's back to heal will hopefully mean that the rest of the year won't hold any more nasty surprises like this one.
"We've never had to cancel two tours in a row before, so we feel awful about disappointing our fans and friends. It's definitely a regretful situation. At least we'll be coming back to Europe during festival season in June and July, so we get to see each other again soon. Everybody has been amazingly understanding of the situation, and have sent Lou a lot of well-wishes — we really appreciate it. Thanks for your loyalty.
"Don't worry, Australia and Singapore — we're still on for May, and by that time all of us will be ready to explode onto the stage again!"
