Review By TJ Miller of Still Remains:
On February 23rd, 2006 in Ft Wayne, Indiana's own Memorial Coliseum, no one knew quite what to expect from one Mr. Trent Reznor, the mastermind and genius behind Nine Inch Nails. From the moment their headlining set started with "Mr. Self-Sestruct," the first track off of the multi-platinum "The Downward Spiral," one would say that Reznor was definitely in good form. "Sin," and then "Terrible Lie," would follow from NIN's debut, "Pretty Hate Machine."
Trent's guitars and mic stand combined with Aaron North's out of control stage antics were forces to be reckoned with. Was the band angry tonight or just really alive? Probably the latter as Trent took the time to explain to the crowd: "I’ve got to be honest with you people. Sometimes when you are on tour, you play these shows and there is something missing... Sometimes you play shows that are fun and right on key. Tonight is definitely one of those nights," he said, while thanking the crowd for coming out.
Crowd favorites such as "Closer, Head like a Hole, Something I Could Never Have, Only, The Hand That Feeds, and Hurt," were moving to everybody. But the highlights of this particular show were more of Trent's personal favorites including "Burn, Eraser, and Reptile."
This was easily one of the best concerts I have ever seen, but the only disappointing thing about it was
the band didn't trash very much of their equipment.
MISERY INDEX have been confirmed as the support act for FEAR FACTORY on the German leg of their upcoming European tour. Sparky Voyles (guitar) has just signed in and wrote:
"Hey guys! We're really excited to tell you that we will be doing the tour with Fear Factory in Europe. The tour starts in a few days and we really hope to see many of you at one of the gigs. METAL!”

Portland based progressive metallers, NICODEMUS, have wrapped up the filming of a long form conceptual video for the track "Next In Nocturne" from their current release, "Vanity Is A Virtue" (Sonic Age Records). The video was directed by Joni DeRouchie, a Northwest based independent filmmaker who has worked on projects such as "Remote Control" and "Bigger Than Jesus". DeRouchie is a critically acclaimed director whose previous work has been selected for prestigious international film festivals. The concept for the video is gothic noir mixed with performance footage and features a large cast of actors, actresses, and extras including a cameo by publishedgothic novelist, Jemiah Jefferson, whose works include "Voice of the Blood", "Wounds",and "Fiend". The video is now in the editing stage and should see a release in late March. It will be available at the band's website as well as myspace.com/nicodemusband.
As previously reported, Nicodemus released their third album titled "Vanity Is A Virtue" through the Greek based Sonic Age Records in June of 2005. The album decidedly owes more to the progressive sound than previous Nicodemus releases, 2000's "Tales of the Lovelorn and Necromantic"(Dark Throne Music) and 2003's "The Supernatural Omnibus" (Dark Symphonies), which saw the band focusing on a goth/black metal based sound with progressive elements.

SATYRICON have signed a North American licensing agreement with Century Media Records for their new album Now, Diabolical. Set for release June 13, 2006, the North American version will include a bonus track and enhanced video. Mixing the album with celebrated producer Mike Frasier (Metallica, AC/DC) in Vancouver, Canada, Satyr called Now, Diabolical, “a deeper dive in the abyss than ever before. [The album] is a catchy and aggressive record with a pitch-black heart. I think this is the kind of record that we and our supporters in America need to help steer the direction that no one has really set yet ‘over there’. America has produced some of the greatest metal bands of all time, yet Black Metal has very much been a European phenomena until now. It is gradually tightening its grip on the American metal scene and we want to be a part of it just like we were when it started in Europe”
Volcano, the band’s 2002 release received the Norwegian Grammy for Best Metal Album, the Alarm Award for Song Of The Year (“Fuel For Hatred”) and Metal Album Of The Year, as well as The Oslo Award for Best Overall Album. Debuting at #2 in the Norwegian National Music Chart, Volcano has set high expectations for SATYRICON’s new release.
Florida's Bodies In The Gears Of The Apparatus have reportedly called it quits. Formed in 2002, the band has released material with The Spew Records in addition to a split with Despised Icon through Relapse Records. Vocalist Josh Vitale commented on the split:
"We're all very upset to see this band go, but for now, this is the best decision we could decide on. We will all be in other bands, most likely not with each other. We had a lot of critics both positive and negative - both of which made us stronger people and we'd like to send out our thanks to those many who angered and inspired us enough to work harder, moreover, we want to thank everyone who supported this musical project for the past three years. Finally, thank you so much for making this a wonderful and unforgettable experience."
Bodies In The Gears Of The Apparatus were reportedly writing material for their debut full-length and had completed two songs thus far and had planned to play some shows in April, followed by summer touring. In December of last year, Bodies In The Gears Of The Apparatus was rejoined by former drummer Dom Lizzio, who left the band in October.

Doors - "People Are Strange"
Depeche Mode - "Little 15"

Trophy Scars have just finished the mixing process for their new album with producer Chris Badami (Dillinger Escape Plan). Titled "Alphabet," the album will be available on June 13th via The Death Scene Recording.
ROB ZOMBIE has lashed out the people who have suggested that his new single, "Foxy Foxy" is an attempt at a more commercialized sound in order to appease his record company.
Said Zombie: "Let me set the record straight. Most things don't bother me, but this does. In response to people inplying that 'the record label made me write 'Foxy Foxy' in order to to sell more records or whatever.' That is total bullshit. The record label never has and never will make me do anything. If you hate the song, fine, but I am the one responsible for you hating it. Not the label. So blame me.
"It's funny how nothing ever changes. I remember the first tour for 'La Sexorcisto', fans were screaming 'You suck!' ''Thunder Kiss '65' is gay!' 'You sold out!' Then guess what — the same thing happened on the next record... ''More Human Than Human' is gay!' 'You guys suck now!'
"I do what I do, same as I always have. If you don't like it, well, then don't listen to it.
"What can I tell ya?"
ROB ZOMBIE will perform "Foxy Foxy" on NBC-TV's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Wednesday, March 15. The track comes off the singer's new album, "Educated Horses", which is scheduled for release on March 28 via Geffen Records. The follow-up to 2001's "The Sinister Urge" was recorded at Los Angeles' Chop Shop Studios with co-producer Scott Humphrey, who had previously worked with Rob on the platinum hits "Hellbilly Deluxe" and "The Sinister Urge". Other musicians contributing to the CD include Josh Freese (A PERFECT CIRCLE, VANDALS) and Tommy Lee (MÖTLEY CRÜE).
Zombie is now gearing up for the "Educated Horses Tour". The tour is scheduled to start March 17 in Jacksonville, Florida and hit 27 cities before concluding five weeks later in Mesa, Arizona. Joining Rob on this tour will be guitarist John 5 (ex-MARILYN MANSON), longtime bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson and drummer Tommy Clufetos (ex-ALICE COOPER, TED NUGENT). Support acts on the tour will be LACUNA COIL and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE.
The singer took five years off between studio albums while he wrote and directed his first two movies, the 2003 horror hit "House of 1000 Corpses" and its sequel, 2005's "The Devil's Rejects".
21 brand-new high-quality pictures of DAMNOCRACY — Sebastian Bach (ex-SKID ROW; vocals), Evan Seinfeld (BIOHAZARD; bass), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX; guitar), Ted Nugent (guitar), and Jason Bonham (BONHAM, UFO, FOREIGNER; drums) — performing on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 2 have been posted online at Bach's official web site.
The DAMNOCRACY bandmembers spent 12 days in Vegas shooting a new VH1 reality TV show, titled "SuperGroup". Filming for the program commenced on February 22, with the premise being to lock several musicians in a house for 10 days and get them to write and record some new original music. Originally the network wanted the group to record an album, but at this time it is understood they will settle for one song and hope for more. In addition to the five musicians, star manager Doc McGhee (KISS) was in charge and was also living in the house for the duration of filming/recording. The all-star band also performed a headlining set at the Empire Ballroom in Las Vegas on March 5.
VH1's "SuperGroup" is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, May 18 at 10:00 p.m.
Swedish death/black metallers IN AETERNUM have announced their new llineup. Joining guitarist/vocalist David Larsson and drummer Per "Perra" Karlsson in the group's new formation are lead guitarist Erik Kumpulainen and bassist Claes Ramberg.
Commented the band: "At the moment we have been rehearsing seven songs: 'A New Dawn', 'Pactum Diaboli', 'No Salvation', 'Spawned by the Fires Below', 'The Apocalypse Division', 'Reaper in Black' and 'Nuclear Armageddon'. It sounds very good. We will make a set list of about 10-12 songs and after the summer live blasphemies will take place again. Also, new songs are being worked on. Hope to do some recording sessions shortly."
IN AETERNUM released their fourth album, "Dawn Of A New Aeon", last year via Agonia Records.
The official release date of ENSOPH's new work "Projekt X-Katon" has been set to 06/03/06 (I expect that is in Euro format, so it's March 6th). Coming in a luxurious digipack edition, the first pressing of 1500 copies includes a "The Seductive Dwarf" a 3" EP which features Steve Sylvester (leader of the legendary Italian horror band DEATH SS) on vocals, covering SOFT CELL's obscure classic "Sex Dwarf" and a remake of ENSOPH's song "Sun of the Liar". There's going to be an official release-party (date yet to be confirmed) but the presence of Steve Sylvester and other DEATH SS members to share the stage with ENSOPH is announced. On the live front, ENSOPH have been selected to participate to the world-famous Wave Gothic Treffen 2006 (Leipzig, Germany). ENSOPH will be the only opening act for the Italian show of THEATRE OF TRAGEDY (13th April 2006, La Gabbia, Bassano (VI) and a new tour as a supporting act for DEATH SS will start in May 2006. Also scheduled and to be confirmed soon is a UK tour for September-October.
Vocalist Bobby Reeves of the Los Angeles-based band LEVEL has been named the new singer of ADEMA.
"Bobby's definitely got his own voice," ADEMA bassist Dave DeRoo writes in a posting on the United Sites of Adema forum. "He's super-talented; a well-rounded musician who writes great lyrics, and can jam the drums, guitar, bass, as well as produce (in other words, just like the three of us...lol!). He's a great guy, too. I can tell you one thing: Bobby's got the atiitude, the voice, and the vocal range to bust out anything from our catalogue, and we've never sounded better. You'll hear it soon enough, I promise!"
DeRoo adds in a separate online posting, "We just got back from a 10-day run up in Alaska. The shows were killer; we had a blast, and we're currently booking shows as we speak! We're going out for a couple of months before we go back in the studio..."
Reeves joins ADEMA as the replacement for Luke Caraccioli, who left the band in October 2005 — only six months after the release of their first album ("Planets") without the contributions of singer Marky Chavez (half-brother of KORN's Jonathan Davis).

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has posted the following message in his online diary:
"Three more shows and we get a four-day break. Then there’s just a month left on this tour. We've been touring, writing and recording over 16 months now. I can safely say we need a break. No complaints though, how lucky we are to be able to still do this after 25 years. But I feel like Ripped Van Winkle, ready for a mending and hibernation from the volume.
"Donna [Nikki's wife] will come out for Atlanta and we can have a moment away from the kids. Can't wait.
"I also wanted you guys to know that the company Dragonfly Clothing ripped me off and I chose to not go into litigation with them. It would have been a mess. They showed me how they hide there money in Lebanon and didn't pay taxes on a lot of there income. I know that unlike Vans, who is a public-held company this would have cost 100s of thousands of dollars and would have taken my eye off the more important things in life. So it works in their favor, but please know that buying anything with their name and my name together is not approved by me. It is disheartening to know there are still scumbags out there willing to take advantage of someone's hard work, but life is full of lessons and I'm sure there karma is gonna come down on them like a nuclear bomb. I know of many different companies and artists who have sued them. Most win, but it's so sticky. I was the fool, shame on me for trusting them. A lot of their employees and sales staff have left and contacted me to do a clothing line. More on that down the road.
"For now im sitting here in Charleston, WV waiting to go do what I do.
"The waiting is the hardest part."
Producer Kevin Shirley has posted the following update on the recording sessions for the new IRON MAIDEN album, tentatively due this fall:
"It's going REALLY great!!!! I've never been part of a more fun MAIDEN session — lots of laughing and we've cut eight tracks in the first week — and they're stunning! Heavy, and more proggy than recently — but also more GROOVE than I've heard in a long time! Super-strong material — and it sounds heavy as hell!!!! Awesome! And that's about as much as I can reveal."
IRON MAIDEN recently confirmed a full European leg of their world tour for this coming winter 2006. The trek will start in Scandinavia on November 9 and will include new album material which will be released prior to the tour. They are currently considering album artwork and the production for the tour, which of course will be in true MAIDEN tradition with spectacular stage production and massive sound and lights ... and, of course, Eddie!!
Says Steve Harris, "We've finished most of the writing of the album and have just started recording with Kevin Shirley so we're all very charged up at the moment to make a great record. Reaction to the tour so far has been brilliant and we're looking forward to putting a great show together for the fans and getting back out on the road towards the end of the year and playing new material live."
MAIDEN have invited the critically acclaimed American band TRIVIUM to be their special guests throughout the tour. TRIVIUM have enjoyed ever-increasing recognition these last few months and MAIDEN are sure that their fans will give them a great reception.
Australia's Virgin Black will be releasing three albums simultaneously. Each CD is a separate entity, but each is also linked through recurring musical themes and artistic motifs. When fully unfurled in all its grandeur, listeners will experience a grandiloquent two-and-a-half hour requiem mass with three stages of evolution.
The three album descriptions:
"Requiem - pianissimo" is an entirely classical album with instrumentation performed by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and featuring spectacular choral arrangements along with tenor, mezzo-soprano and soprano solo voices. "Requiem - pianissimo" forsakes guitars and drums in favour of the melancholic tragedy and bombastic dynamics of classical composition.
"Requiem - mezzo forte" is where the band joins the orchestra and strikes a balance more reminiscent of previous Virgin Black outings, albeit, with greater epic breadth.
"Requiem - fortissimo" unleashes a sound infinitely heavier than anything in Virgin Black's history. While still retaining an air of classical sensibility, it concludes the series with an intense dose of death/doom.
Dream Theater have posted the following message on their website:
"We regret to announce that we have been forced to cancel our Salt Lake City show.
Bad weather & travelling conditions have made it impossible for our trucks to get to Salt Lake City in time to play the show.
We are truly sorry about this and are surely as disappointed as the fans as the show was sold out and we haven't played for our fans there in over 5 years.
