Chavis Records / DA Records have teamed up together for the co-branded release of "Bombshell" by HYDROGYN. Here is the background:
"HYDROGYN guitarist Jeff Westlake sets out to build a "compelling and modern day heavy rock tour de force" like no other, something that stands out in the forefront of today's rock scene. Music fortified with radical riffs, intelligent lyrics with massive hooks all delivered by a eye-catching front lady with a multi octave range. The formula used is set to conquer all facets of the rock genre without sacrificing credibility. With the band intact and gaining incredible momentum, HYDROGYN gains affiliations with Eagle Distributing Company and soft drink giant Pepsi. HYDROGYN enters the studio with legendary producer Michael Wagener (Metallica, Skid Row, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper) to begin recording BOMBSHELL in 2005. Endorsement deals with Randall Amps, Washburn Guitars, Pearl, and Vic Firth soon follow in rapid succession. With the completion of BOMBSHELL, it is time to drop the bomb into the scene that is HYDROGYN which means putting together a team of professionals with like minded goals to help propel the band to stratospheric limits.
"One independent record label kept coming up in conversation with key industry personal - Chavis Records. Jeff contacts CEO Bill Chavis and the talks begin. After months of discussions, sharing ideas and action plans, both sides knew this would be a great team and began to develop the plan of attack. HYDROGYN also enlisted the expertise of Chris Keaton Productions, a major player in the music industry, responsible for publishing and consulting. Chris brings a wealth of music industry knowledge to the team and shares the same passions and commitment about music and the project as does HYDROGYN and Chavis Records.
With team HYDROGYN in place, it is now time to let the world know. With tour dates, major shows, media and publicity campaigns currently in the works, 2006 will prove to be the year that the HYDROGYN bomb explodes WORLDWIDE!"
Cyclop Media has announced that it will be releasing the next album by Sweden's own Switchblade.
Switchblade's fourth album evokes a monolithic sludgy aura with a sound which is shimmering with harsh resonance. The songs' deconstructed momentum brings to life two monstrous tracks characterized by an oppressive and crushing heaviness. The Swedish three-piece executes this feast with a subtle degree of melodic decorum and manages to be graceful in its sloth. To add further bleakness and beauty to the album, there are guest vocals by 'E' of Watain and Matthias Friberg of Logh.
The forty-three-minute-long release will be released by Cyclop Media in North America on May 9th, 2006.
PECCATUM, the Norwegian band featuring EMPEROR frontman Ihsahn and his wife Ihriel, have issued the following statement:
"After eight years of creating within the borders of PECCATUM, Ihsahn and Ihriel have decided to go elsewhere with their music. Ihsahn is going solo and Ihriel will continue her work in STAR OF ASH. They both still run Mnemosyne Productions and Symphonique Studio, and will definitely continue to explore the outer boundaries of dark music in many years to come — 'To boldly go where no man has gone before.' Ihriel and Ihsahn would like to take the opportunity to thank all PECCATUM fans and listeners, and hope they will find equal pains and pleasures in their new musical endeavours."
As previously reported, Ihsahn has set "The Adversary" as the title of his upcoming solo album, tentatively due later in the year via a collaboration between Mnemosyne Productions and Candlelight Records worldwide. Owned/operated by partners Ihsahn and Ihriel since 2003, Mnemosyne Productions was established as an outlet for duo's musical collaborations as well a place for new talent and innovative artists. The recordings for the album took place last year at Symphonique Studios in Norway with the final mix planned for early 2006. A video is in the works for the song "Invocation", though specific details as to director and concept are still in development.
"The music is a continuation of my work within the metal genre," said Ihsahn. "It incorporates influential elements from all periods/stages of my background since I first picked up the guitar 20 years ago. Powerful, epic, extreme and straight from the heart."
All music and lyrics for "The Adversary" have been written and performed by Ihsahn with exception of drums, performed by Asgeir Mickelson (BORKNAGAR, SPIRAL ARCHITECT). "He has been the perfect drummer for this album," noted Ihsahn. "He has really brought to live the patterns I programmed in pre-production.
