Contrary to rumors, Reflux are not breaking up. Lambgoat spoke with a member of the band earlier today and confirmed that they are indeed taking a break, but not disbanding permanently. Here's a statement from the group:
"Reflux is not over. The four of us are all still the best of friends and intend on putting out a proper full-length album that does us justice sometime in 2007. Yes, we will touring in support of it. However we will not be touring anytime soon in 2006. We lived out of a van for many months in the past year and made a lot of progress in the US, Canada and Europe. Now: Vinny and Tosin are living in Atlanta taking a one year course studying Music Theory at the ATL Institute of Music. Evan is living in his hometown of Nashville being a fucking pimp. Ash is bouncing back and forth between living on Venice Beach and DC. We will be releasing some live footage from our headlining December Tour online soon, along with possibly clips of a new song that was performed on that run.
We would like to extend thanks to Prosthetic Records, Outerloop Management, Avocado Booking, Darkest Hour, Strapping Young Lad and everyone else who took us seriously on this album cycle and helped us when others wrote us off. Thanks to all the kids who have shown us so much love and inspired us to keep sleeping like shit and eating Waffle House at 4am every night smelling like a hobo until we got to the next town. We have had some of the best times of our lives doing this band thing and we aren't throwing it away. As other bands who give the interstates their full-time attention and dedication can tell you, sometimes you just have to take a step back and satisfy your own personal, creative, and spiritual desires instead of killing yourself on the road in the name of soundscans and moshing. What to expect on the next album? More cohesive songs, more memorable parts, more dynamic performances displayed by all members, and more musical identity. We just want to make an album that we will enjoy years from now and not associate with whatever was 'cool' at the time of our album cycle. It is our duty as grown ass men to be less concerned with being the next big thing in Hot Topic, and more concerned with creatively fulfilling ourselves. So in 2007 all you gym short kids, basement shredder music geeks, girlie jean flattened hair gender benders, fishnet arm eyeliner fruits, and industry schmucks: get ready for an album that will be nothing like anything you have heard in heavy music. We will not be rushed. We will not be pressured by superficial flavor of the week bullshit, and we will have real production. Should be fun!:) And no, we don't care how many people we just alienated or offended by this post. Now for your quote of the day...
'even in HARDCORE, there are so many rules about what is and what is not acceptable, and that completely negates the whole spirit of the ORIGINAL idea.' - Dennis Lyxzén / Refused."

EVANESCENCE frontwoman Amy Lee has posted the following message on the EVANESCENCE message board EVBoard.com:
"Terry [Balsamo, EVANESCENCE/ex-COLD guitarist] and I are sitting here in the control room at the studio — we'll be done mixing [the new album] next week! I can hardly believe it, we've been working on this album for so long. The stuff sounds so good... Wow, what a trip this has been.
"I just wanted to say hi, check in with you and let you know that Terry is doing really well [after suffering a stroke in November] (he is downloading PANTERA ringtones right now and trying to get one of us to call him), [producer Dave] Fortman is ruling it (in deep thought at the mixing board) and I am trying to figure out the order of the songs for the album. It's going to be hard to hold this music in all summer. Haha!
"Terry just said to thanks for all you guys' support, and all the kind words. I really want to thank you guys again for being so patient — I know it's gonna be worth it. Hang in there! Ill keep you guys posted." More...
BW&BK has received the following statement from Quebec-based metallers ANONYMUS:
"A new page has been turned, After more than 600 concerts, five albums, nine videos, unforgettable tours, after shows worth of mention and thousands of kilometers traveled together, it’s with great sadness but by common accord that Anonymus and founding member Marco Calliari are now parting ways. The guitarist/singer was a member of the group for the last 17 years.
Those who have been following Anonymus’s forward progressions know that since 2004, Marco Calliari has been leading a successful solo career. After a few years of alternating between both projects and considering the importance of Marco’s involvement towards Anonymus, the band realized that it was in the best interest of the group to make this very painful decision:
'It’s been the most difficult decision presented to us since the beginning of our career. We feel that with Marco’s solo career the group was not moving forward at regular speed and numerous scheduling conflicts would arise.'
The group would like to emphasize that this situation was handled amicably and with the utmost respect for each other. 'Despite everything, we remain in good terms. Yes, the wound is still open but we feel that it’s in the best interest of the group. We sincerely hope that Marco’s career develops like he desires and we wish him the best of luck.' More...
Bassist Joshua Urista of the Dallas-based metalcore outfit LOSA has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"For the first time in a very long time I actually have some juicy tid-bits to share. I wish I could say that the news was all good, but that would be a lie and probably not as interesting. So let's get to it, shall we.
"LOSA is no longer on Metal Blade Records. Feel free to read into that as much as you would like. Working with them was an enlightening experience, one I will not soon forget. You will be happy to know that they wish us 'good luck in our future endeavors, which [they] hope are extremely successful.' Other labels are already interested, so no worries.
"Next up, we have the cancellation of our April tours with DEADBIRD and YAKUZA. I strongly encourage you to support both of these bands by attending their shows and buying their merch. My apologies go out to both bands and I hope we can work together in the very near future. As for the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival, that is still up in the air. Stay tuned for more on that. Hate Eternal drummer Derek Roddy has announced his departure from the band. Roddy has issued the following statement:
"Real life situations have forced me to resign as a member of Hate Eternal. I can on longer afford the expenses of touring. I have put much thought into this for the last several years and kept coming to this conclusion. I must be able to afford the quaility of life that I enjoy, and thus far... touring in extreme bands has not allowed me to do anything other than go into a financial hole. Every tour has put me in finanancial burden. Now, I'm not complaining (because I never expected to "make it" playing metal) But, I cannot continue to pay to do it either!!! Too expensive. Besides, I value the scene and would rather give my music away than be insulted at the end of the year with a $600.00 royalty check. This, in no way, means I won't be recording and releasing extreme music. In fact, you will hear more from me (as I now have the freedom to do what I want when I want). I wish Hate Eternal the best of luck."
The Receiving End Of Sirens guitarist/vocalist Alex Bars was hospitalized this past weekend after sustaining an injury in Boston. The group has issued the following statement:
"We are writing to bring you up to speed on an unfortunate incident that took place this past Friday. In a freak accident, Alex Bars (Vocals/Guitar), tripped and fell about 11 feet down a flight of stairs. After a fairly long emergency room stay, he was diagnosed with a fractured left scapula (shoulder blade), three fractured ribs, a punctured lung, and a few damaged vertebrae. As you can imagine, our entire band has been pretty shaken up this entire weekend. On the bright side, we are happy to have our friend/band mate still alive, and very thankful he avoided being paralyzed, or anything more serious for that matter.
Alex was checked out of the Brigham and Women's Hospital, in Boston, MA, Sunday evening after two long nights. He will remain home until he has aptly recovered. We will most certainly keep you posted with his progress. All we ask is you keep Alex and his friends/family in your thoughts, prayers, or whatever you may do.
As for The Receiving End of Sirens, we have decided not to cancel any of our upcoming headlining shows for "The New Hope Tour." Even though we will undoubtedly feel incomplete, we refuse to let down our friends, fans, promoters, clubs, and most importantly Alex. At this point, how large of a role Alex will be able to play in the first shows is still undetermined. We appreciate your support and understanding!"
