Chicago based thrash/death metal band, Fallen Empire, post an update on their Myspace site regarding the replacement of their bassist:
"FIRST - we regret to announce Eugene is no longer part of the band. Welcome back.....DINO RAMIREZ on bass! We are somewhere in the middle of recording our new short EP , to be released in the next month or so - its going to have three brand new songs and its sounding ridiculously awesome, major rokkin sound at our singers studio, the VOID in dekalb."
THE ESOTERIC have posted their video for the track "Your New Burden" at this location. The Lawrence, Kansas natives again selected Matt Bass to direct the clip, having previously worked with him for the video to "Ram-Faced Boy", the first single from the band's 2005 release "With The Sureness of Sleepwalking". The band, who recently completed a U.S. run of dates with SCARLET, CALICO SYSTEM, and FIGHT PARIS, are continuing to write material for a follow-up release, to be issued via Prosthetic Records.
Crash Music, Inc. has announced the signing of the Los Angeles band SOCIETY 1 to a worldwide deal.
SOCIETY 1 first rose to notoriety in 1999 with its debut album, "Slacker Jesus", earning massive press coverage through such media outlets as MTV, VH1, Billboard, Rolling Stone, Spin, Revolver, and Kerrang!. Adding to the media frenzy was the fact that front man Matt Zane was an acclaimed porn director, gaining worldwide infamy for his "Backstage Sluts" series. The band released two albums on Earache Records, 2003's "Exit Through Fear" and 2005's "The Sound That Ends Creation". Now free from Earache Records the band is ready for yet another run of pure hedonistic debauchery... and creating some new music as well.
Matt Zane comments: "This band released its first record in 1999 and I can't believe we are still making new music seven years later. I have so many friends that were signed out of the nu-metal scene back in the day that had their time and are now gone. I feel blessed that Crash is giving us the opportunity to keep going."
Crash Music's Mark Nawara says, "Matt Zane is an extraordinary talent and I believe has a very bright future ahead of him. We are very excited to be working with him and SOCIETY 1 and I look forward to it."
SOCIETY 1's first release for Crash will be "The Years Of Spiritual Dissent", a two-disc CD/DVD set, to be released early this fall, which consists of music off previous albums, "Slacker Jesus" and "Words As Carriers". The set also includes cover songs an unreleased track, and a documentary DVD.
The band is currently writing new music for a new album to be released in the near future. Matt Zane also host his own weekly radio show on the Internet's most notorious station, Radio Free Satan, which an be heard on Tuesday nights at www.radiofreesatan.com.
Los Angeles melodic thrash/death metallers CERBERUS have uploaded another track entitled 'The Gates Of Mercy' from their latest offering, The Cage Of Existence on their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/cerberus.
The band's debut CD, The Cage Of Existence was released in June 2005 through Hell and Death Records. Cerebus are currently in the studio recording a six song E.P., titled What Have We Become?, due for release on Hell and Death Records in mid-July. The tracklisting will be revealed soon.
This is the group’s last record with Hell And Death, and they will be shopping around for other labels. Interested parties can contact their manager at Jordan@churchofthe8thday.com. Plans for a full US tour with YEAR OF DESOLATION (Prosthetic Records) and 7TH PLAGUE in August are underway to support the release and dates will be announced soon.

During a recent interview with "The Metal Show", heard live on 92.3 FM WXRK in Cleveland, SLAYER vocalist Tom Araya slammed STATIC-X while discussing their performance during a tour with SLAYER, PANTERA, MORBID ANGEL and others. The following is an excerpt from the interview:
The Metal Show: It's not like the SLAYER fans are very giving when it comes to anybody but you guys playing.
Tom Araya: "Well, they kind of are, especially if you're good. You know…they'll give into you."
The Metal Show: I don't know, man. I saw you guys here on the tour with PANTERA and STATIC-X where STATIC-X got booed right off the stage while people were chanting "SLAYER!"
Tom Araya: "Dude, come on. You're talking about STATIC-X. (laughing a lot) One night…it's pretty understandable why they got booed (Laughs)."
The Metal Show: Very nice, man, I’m sure they are thrilled to hear that.
Tom Araya: "I'm sure they will be! (Laughs)."
You can hear the interview in its entirety at Pitriff.com (Real Player required). This specific exchange can be heard about 9 minutes, 3 seconds into the conversation.
Directed by Darren Doane (EVERY TIME I DIE, THURSDAY, POISON THE WELL, etc.), NONPOINT's video for the track 'Bullet with a Name', off their recent Bieler Bros. release "To the Pain", has been made available online at this location.
Dutch death metallers GOD DETHRONED have posted the following message on their official web site:
"BOLT THROWER asked us to be their direct support act on their second leg of the 'Those Still Loyal' tour. Although we basically haven't got any time left due to the writing process of our new album, we are very honored to support the warmasters of death metal. So we're gonna be there for the Scottish, English, Irish, Dutch and some of the German shows of the tour. Then we have enough time left to finish the composing process of our new album before we enter the Soundlodge Studios in Germany on the 1st of May."

It marks the group's first release with new members, guitarist Isaac De La Haye (who replaced Jens van der Valk) and bassist Henk "Henke" Zinger (GRINDMINDED).
SODOM frontman Thomas "Tom Angelripper" Such has slammed CELTIC FROST and VENOM for their comeback attempts, claiming that neither band is worthy of the attention being given to them by the metal media and fans alike. In a brand-new interview with the German webzine Terrorverlag (web site), Angelripper had the following to say when asked about both bands' upcoming albums and touring plans (translated from German):
On CELTIC FROST:
"I don't know what to think about that. The last few albums they released as CELTIC FROST were crap. OK, I'm sure that they are making a great [new] album, but I can't really trust them, coming back after all these years. . . Now they're getting a huge push, playing as headliners at the Wacken Open Air and Rock Hard Open Air festivals. We in SODOM have been playing and working our asses off non-stop for 25 years and we've never been invited to play the Rock Hard Festival! That really sucks! Maybe we should take a break for 15 years and then come back in wheelchairs. I'm sure then we would get a chance to play at some of those festivals!"
"I've heard some of the new songs and they do not come close to 'Welcome to Hell', 'Possessed', 'Black Metal' or 'At War with Satan' in any way. Their time is over! The entire thing seems to me to be about making some quick money."
SODOM's new self-titled album is scheduled for release in Germany on April 21, in Europe April 24 and in the USA May 9 via SPV Records.
Greece's HOMO IRATUS have posted the following update on their official web site:
"While appearing to be in hiatus... we have been in one of the most productive seasons as a band.
"The result of long hours of work have finally materialized once more and therefore a new album is introduced.
"'Fall of the Locust' is our third full-length album which runs at 77+ minutes of music separated in 4 thematical parts of 14 musical installments in total... Evidence of all this can be found at the downloads section [of the band's web site] where you will find three full tracks in mp3 form plus two of them are also included as video clips."
OUT FOR BLOOD will be entering Sable Rose studios on May 11 to record their debut full-length album with Andy Faulkner (BOLTHROWER, CATHEDRAL). The album is 70% written, with the hope of a September release.
The fourth installment of Robot Mosh Fest will take place on Friday, July 21st and Saturday, July 22nd at Country Skate in West Bend, WI. Update information can be found here. The following groups are slated to perform at the event (several more bands will be added in the coming weeks):

Roadrunner Records has announced the signing of legendary guitarist Zakk Wylde and his band, Black Label Society. Having sold over 1.4 million albums worldwide BLS is currently working with producer Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Ozzy Osbourne, Red Hot Chili Peppers) on Shot To Hell, the first release for Roadrunner that will be released this summer. "After spending a lifetime as Wylde Z. Coyote, I guess it was just a matter of time before I'd catch the Roadrunner, " comments Wylde. Shot To Hell is the follow up to Mafia, which debuted in March 2005 at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and at #1 on the Top Independent Albums chart. The top rock track “In This River” from Mafia will be on the upcoming MTV2 Headbangers Ball: The Revenge album that is out April 11th. BLS, who were just announced as the Ozzfest second stage headliner, will tour the world extensively in support of the new album. Zakk is currently finishing up the newest from BLS and writing and recording with Ozzy Osbourne for his new album.
"Signing Zakk and Black Label Society is an honor,” stated Roadrunner Records Director of A&R Mike Gitter (Killswitch Engage, Cradle of Filth). “The guy is genuine, rock royalty whose talent is only matched by his vision. He is the real deal and his legacy, as one of the greatest guitarists of all time has already been cemented.”
Guitar World Magazine’s 3 time reigning MVP who in their year end readers poll was named #1 most valuable player, #1 best metal guitarist and #1 best shredder and the recipient of Metal Hammer Magazine’s 2005 “Riff Lord” Golden God Award, Zakk is one of the worlds most respected guitarists and a true living legend. On January 17th Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne inducted Zakk into Hollywood’s Guitar Center Rock Walk. Recently Zakk re-upped with Gibson Guitars who fully endorses him with a line of custom made Les Paul’s and this year Marshall Amplification will make a special limited edition “Zakk Stack.” Zakk is the only artist aside from Jimi Hendrix to have a Marshall amplifier named after him
In 1986, at the age of 19, Zakk was plucked from a gas station in NJ to be the new guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. He quickly asserted not only his guitar skills but also his songwriting prowess, having co-written some of Ozzy’s best-selling albums including, No Rest For The Wicked, No More Tears and Ozzmosis. Additionally, he has released one album with the short-lived project Pride & Glory, one solo album and seven albums with Black Label Society. Lastly, BLS has released the DVD Boozed, Broozed & Broken-Boned- Live with the Detroit Chapter, which is certified Platinum. Zakk is a budding actor who has appeared in the 2001 movie Rock Star with Mark Walhberg and later this year, will star in the film, “Red Line” directed by Billy Zane.
Formed in 2002, Level-C is an all female metal band that has begun to make its rise out of the local Cleveland, Ohio music scene. They were featured on the premiere episode of "Battle For Ozzfest" and though they weren't chosen to move on to the finals of the competition, they impressively placed in the top ten overall. They have shared the stage with many national acts such as Rob Zombie, Seether, Mastodon, Kittie, Otep, Crisis, Dope, The Misfits and Slaves on Dope. Along with countless internet radio stations, Level-C is currently on rotation throughout the entire United States, as well as in several European countries and portions of Canada. I recently got on the level with the band's bassist, Janean Buch, to learn more about this talented heavy music act. More...
