Arcane Streaming "Hunter, Heart & Home"

Australia's conceptual prog rock/metal outfit Arcane continues to perform across its homeland on the launch circuit for the impending "Known/Learned" double-album release, set to hit the streets via Sensory Records this Winter.

In 2013, Arcane sanctioned Sam Vallen (Caligula's Horse) to produce its most massive album to date, a two-part conceptual release entitled "Known/Learned," with sixteen expansive tracks encompassing an immense two hours of music.

The first movement, "Known," delivers a more traditionally-oriented progressive rock performance, and the second, "Learned," takes a lighter, more acoustic/folk inspired path. The recordings were mastered by Troy Glessner at Spectre Mastering in Seattle, and the album's cover art provided by Chris Stevenson-Mangos.

A generous crowd funding campaign supported by passionate fans bands helped Arcane produce "Known/Learned," yet as the album was seeing completion, the band crossed paths with New Jersey-based progressive label, The Laser's Edge, who took the album on for worldwide release and distribution upon its recent completion through its Sensory Records entity.

A limited run of the album will be dispatched to the loyal funding crowd, while Sensory will release the album on a 2xCD digipak and deluxe digital package worldwide, in North America January 20th and in Europe on February 13th.

Arcane has released another new single from the new opus, with the nearly eight-minute-long opening track to the "Learned" half of the album, "Hunter, Heart & Home," streaming now below. More...

Sextrash Re-Releasing "Sexual Carnage"

Greyhaze Records has announced the upcoming reissue of Sextrash’s debut album "Sexual Carnage" for January 12th in the U.K. (CD) and January 13th for North America (CD and vinyl).

The album’s vinyl version will be housed in a special gatefold jacket and will include a double insert and will be available in black vinyl and limited red flesh color vinyl. The CD version includes the long out of print 1989 EP "XXX" as bonus tracks, as well as early demo material.

Both configurations will feature never-before-seen photos taken from the album cover photo session. All audio has been restored and remastered exclusively for the Greyhaze version of the album.

Sextrash is an integral part of the early MG (Minas Gerais) metal scene of the 80’s and 90’s. This is the same scene that spawned bands such as Sarcofago, Sepultura, Mutilator, and Holocausto. Sextrash’s sound, like the aforementioned bands was utterly barbaric, wild and, at the same time, highly influential worldwide. Originally released in 1990, the band’s debut full-length "Sexual Carnage" features the infamous original drummer of Sarcofago, DD Crazy.

Says bass player Krueger: “Sexual Carnage was a big achievement for the band at the time. I have it in my blood and in my eyes to this day and I’ll take it to the grave!” More...

Apocryphal Voice Releases Album Through Inverse

Originally self-released last year, Apocryphal Voice has now given an official label release for "Pain & Pleasure" today via Inverse Records. You can stream all the tracks below, and Inverse also comments:

"Apocryphal Voice was formed in 1999 by Juhani Jokisalo after having grown out both with musical taste and ambitions from previous more conventional dark metal band, where he was the bassist. Rebellion against that moment's Finnish metal scene also played it's part in giving motivation.

"'The Sickening' demo was recorded in late 2000 with Juhani and drummer Ville Salonen as the only band members. It contained 3 fiercely left-field metal songs utilizing bare negative emotions. 'The Sickening' found its way to hands of label Rage of Achilles who released it as such in 2003 as a mini-CD.

"The following full-length 'Stilltrapped,' now leaning more towards a sort of depressive wintry rock than black -based metal, was self-recorded bit by bit during following years. Apocryphal Voice came to attention of Blut Aus Nord's Vindsval who at the helm of Candlelight sublabel Appease Me arranged the release for 'Stilltrapped' in 2007. More...

Chiildren Streaming "O' Child"

Synthetic metal duo Chiildren has released a new track entitled "O' Child" (produced by Michael Keene of The Faceless), taken from upcoming EP "The Circle Narrows."

The EP, which does not yet have an official release date, also features artwork from Steven Johnson Leyba. Chiildren's Chris Zeischegg comments:

"It has been an honor to work with producer, Michael Keene, on The Circe Narrows EP. His knowledge and understanding of metal, industrial, and electronic music has been integral in shaping the new material from experimentation into what I hope is the perfect representation of our sound.

"Our new song, 'O' Child,' reflects an evolution from spirituality to narcissism. And the upcoming EP, The Circle Narrows, is meant as a disappropriation of symbols. It's difficult to view ancient texts or images without the thought that their power, or significance, is irrelevant to contemporary life. If Ouroboros (the snake that eats itself) is meant as a symbol of individuation, I can only see it as a reminder that the path has narrowed and will soon run out." More...

Enslaved And Pro-Pain Added To Bloodstock

Feeling the winter chill creeping in? Bloodstock to the rescue then, with three more bands announced to get you hot under the collar.

Norwegian extremists Enslaved are added to Bloodstock’s Main Stage next summer. With a new album due in March 2015 via Nuclear Blast, expect to bang your head to some brand new tunes. Guitarist Ivar Bjørnson states:

“We’ve been to Bloodstock once before in 2009, and not only did we understand then why it has become the most important UK Metal festival – but it has grown to mammoth-proportions since. In sum; what an absolute pleasure and honour to be invited back. We like to think that we too have developed somewhat; having a few new, pretty awesome albums and world tours under our (over-stretched) belts. We can’t wait to come and show the Bloodstock crowd what we’ve been up to. To quote one of our spiritual beacons; General Melchett: 'If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.'"

Hailing from the frozen wilds of Finland, folk metal six-piece Korpiklaani is set to join the fray in a UK exclusive appearance. Guitarist Country Cane tells us; "After having great fun and sold out shows ?with our good friends in Sabaton and TÝR, we are excited to be back in the UK to play Bloodstock in 2015. We plan to return and get the crowds singing and dancing Korpiklaani style on our next rock n roll adventure.” More...
