California's blackened sludge act Bloodmoon is set to reissue the 2013 album, "Voidbound," on limited edition vinyl through Black Voodoo Records on December 20th. The new version has been completely remastered for vinyl by James Plotkin.
Entities has checked in with the following announcement about pushing back the release of a new album:
"In the last couple of days it has unfortunately come to our attention that our full length album, 'Novalis,' which was slated for a December 23rd release date, will now be cancelled and pushed back to a later release date.
"Due to several technical issues and poor planning, we need to give ourselves more time to polish and make adjustments to the album before it can be released to you all. We know that the wait for this album has been a long one (for both the band and you guys), however if you can bear with us just a while longer, the wait will be worth it (we promise)!
"We are in the final stages of mixing and mastering, however need more time to work all of the kinks out before we can give you guys a final product.
"As of now, the release date for 'Novalis' will be January 2nd, 2015. We are all very sorry for making you wait and hope to make it up by releasing another high quality record!" More...
After launching the new track "Nail Them To The Cross," Swedish black metal outfit Dark Funeral is now officially introducing new frontman Heljarmadr and bassist Natt. Century Media Records had this to say:
"With roots in the second half of the 90's black metal scene and in bands such as highly respected Gra, Domgard, and Cursed 13, comes a raw force from the underground.
"Known as a fierce frontman, both onstage and on recordings with his previous bands, he will now step up and claim a seat in the throne room of Dark Funeral to inflict deep scars in the black metal scene. The name Heljarmadr derives from old Scandinavian languages, simply meaning 'a man belonging to hell.'
"With long time experience in the arts of creating dark satanic music, he will play a key role in shaping the future vocal and lyrical direction of Dark Funeral. Expect nothing but excellence, pure darkness and uncompromising evil!
"Treading into this world, Natt has always had a strong, deep interest in music and the arts of the great unknown. More...
The Norwegian progsters from Leprous are back in the studio working on the follow-up album to 2013's "Coal" (reviewed here).
The still-untitled new album is expected for a May 2015 release via InsideOutMusic. Leprous also comments from the studio:
"We're super-stoked about the new material we have composed. It's not really Coal material, following our mantra about not making the same album twice.
"The writing process has been very different this time. Most of the music has been made by Einar, on a computer. Almost all the guitar riffs for example (and Einar has no idea about how to play guitar...), so the guitar players were up for a challenge.
"At the moment we're finished recording drums, and Baard has delivered a stunning performance, so now it's time for the rest of us, to lay down the guitars, bass and keys, before we round the whole thing up with vocals-recordings in the beginning of the new year.
"Mixing and mastering will take place in late January, so we expect a release in May, but all of that is up to our label. Right now, we're just concentrating on doing our part to perfection."
Drums for the new album were recorded in Sweden's Fascination Street / Studio Gröndal with David Castillo (Katatonia, Opeth), while the band will be mixing the album with Jens Bogren at Fascination Street studio.
Caliban has a new lyric video for the track "nebeL," which can be found below, courtesy of Impericon.com.
The song is Caliban's very first track completely sung in the band's native German tongue, with guest vocals coming from Callejon's BastiBasti. "nebeL" is taken from the group's latest album "Ghost Empire" that entered the German charts at #7 upon its release. Caliban also issues this year-end update:
"Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We are looking back upon an amazing and turbulent 2014! 'Ghost Empire' was released and went through the roof, so we even secured our first Top 10 entry by landing on '7.
"We toured a good amount of the world and played shows and spots that we've never seen before. Everything was unbelievable and crazy, but our tour throughout Russia really capped it off.
"All of it wouldn't have been possible without YOU! Our fans and friends. You make Caliban what we are and we'd like to send out a massive 'thank you!' to everybody for your endless support. ALONE WE ARE NOTHING - TOGETHER WE ARE CRUSHING.
"Still, you know we are always being restless, so we already cannot wait to be out on the road again on our upcoming 'Ghost Empire European Tour 2015' after spending 5 long months off stage.
"We are also looking forward to shredding more places in the rest of the world and bringing them our 'Ghost Empire'. Keep your eyes open for more dates! On our tour in January we will be accompanied by our new friends in Bury Tomorrow, Dream On Dreamer as well as our brothers from 'the Pott' and shooting stars Any Given Day.
"Let's start 2015 with a heavy dose of metal! We are really looking forward to it and THANK YOU again!" More...
Void Asceticism joins two of underground black/death's most challenging and uncompromising newcomers, Canada's Garotting Deep and Sweden's For. The two outfits are coming together for a split release due out January 16th, 2014. Void Asceticism comments:
"Gorotting Deep occupy the first side, and create a churning, hideous maw of haunting sound. Seemingly amorphous, the band's three tracks burrow different holes and then move elsewhere, the gutted frequencies shaking loose the listener's foundations.
"On the second side, For plod forward ominously, their sludge 'n' trudge the sonic equivalent of urban decay. But then, explosions of bestial chaos abound, keeping the listener in a perpetual state of tension. Taken together, both Garotting Deep and For illustrate exactly what Void Asceticism means: moral collapse, soul sacrifice, eternal oblivion."
The track listing is as follows:
A1 - A Barrows Of Moss
A2 - Garotting Deep
A3 - Heimta Thurs (Wardruna cover)
B1 - Behexed By Mortuary Chants
B2 - Spraekjo
B3 - Nectars Of Serpents More...

Magic Bullet Records will take responsibility for the dirty job of handling the release of the scum-laden debut LP from Meatwound, an act collecting individuals who have done or are currently doing time with Combatwoundedveteran, Holy Mountain, Headless Dogs, Primate Research, and more throughout the Floridian peninsula. Magic Bullet comments:
"Dangerous and hardcore as shit, a thundering concoction of 1990s influences overthrow the Meatwound sound; a gutter where the pentatonic, industrialized elements of crushers Fudge Tunnel and Godflesh meet a sordid death metal edge meshing Sepultura and Exit-13, in the same place throbbing Big Black-style hardcore punk is infiltrated by a scuzzy sci-fi The Locust-ish elements, while an expected aggro hardcorish/punked vibe in the realm of many of the other acts the Meatwound members hail from surging through it all."
Meatwound's debut LP, "Addio," was recorded with Dan Byer at Rock Garden Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida, mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound, and bears artwork by Chris Norris [Steak Mtn.]. Magic Bullet will discharge the beast digitally and on LP in the first quarter of 2015, with final pressing and street date details to be confirmed in the days ahead. The track listing is as follows:

Venezuela’s masked musical vigilante Zardonic has released his new 4 track EP "For Justice," including a track from the forthcoming album "The Heroes Have Failed," scheduled for release in March 2015.
The title track can be heard below, and Zardonic also had this to say: “‘For Justice’ is a track that defies genres, and that's why we chose it as the first single. It's a DJ friendly electro track, perfectly suitable for any dance floor, but it also has the strength and musical richness of metal.” More...
Following Death Karma's debut EP, "A Life Not Worth Living," in early 2013 the Czech band now announces a full-length titled "The History of Death & Burial Rituals Part 1." The album is due out via Iron Bonehead on February 13th, and the label had this to say:
"As suggested by its grandiose title, The History of Death & Burial Rituals displays the duo in a considerably elevated state: the ambition and daring Death Karma exhibit here almost sounds like an entirely different band. However, the band remains the same, and includes two members of the critically acclaimed Cult Of Fire.
"Not unlike that band, Death Karma here unveil a comparatively kaleidoscopic kind of black metal, bolstered by death metal muscle, surging-yet-layered songcraft, mystical melodicism, and a robust production that highlights every subtle nuance, every dynamic twist, and especially the over-spilling violence. It's an album that not so much abandons black/death in futile favor of something "different" for its own sake, but rather attempts - and succeeds, massively - to inject bold adventure into classicist purity. With The History of Death & Burial Rituals part 1, Death Karma reveal themselves to the world...and it's just the beginning."
Vocalist/guitarist/bassist Infernal Vlad explains the concepts behind the albumI: "Death is as young as humanity itself. It accompanies mankind from the very beginning, and it is an integral part of life. As the cultural differences in society have been evolving throughout the centuries, different ways of burying the deceased, as well as their worship and access to the dead, were incurring. In particular, the emergence of different religions in the world had a crucial influence on funerary rituals, historical and current, as well as on the perception of death. Many cults of death were born..." More...
Century Media Records has signed a record deal with Detroit area nu-metal band, Gift Giver. The label comments:
"Formed in the fall of 2012, Gift Giver gained notoriety and repute through self-released EP, 'Daddy Issues,' and constant touring through the U.S. with acts such as Sworn In, Kublai Khan, Barrier and many more. Appearances at the New England Metal and Hardcore festival, Skate and Surf Fest and Michigan's own Dirtfest raised their profile even higher, making Gift Giver one of the most buzzed about bands in the scene."
Vocalist Justin Johnson comments: "We are very proud to announce that we have signed to Century Media Records! We've got a brand new full length ready and a couple new singles that will be coming out shortly. We busted our asses, dealt with member changes, and other endless amounts of bullshit to make this record happen- and it's finally ready! It feels good to have a badass label believe in what we are doing and we hope to see all of your support as well! See you guys on the road."
The band has also been confirmed for this year's South By So What?! Festival in March and will be touring with Barrier, Villains, Traitors and Adaliah on the way down to the festival.
Gift Giver recently completed a debut album with Century Media, and details on that as well as a first single will be released shortly. Catch the band live on these dates: More...

The band will also be heading out on the Monsters of the Universe Tour with Wednesday 13 and Eyes Set To Kill in January, 2015. Die So Fluid comments:

Now, finally, the stars have aligned with the release of our new album, The Opposites Of Light, for us to embark on another US tour with Wednesday 13 and Eyes Set To Kill.
"We're grateful for the opportunity to get out and kill it in great company, connect with new fans and reconnect with old! This is just the beginning of a much bigger adventure!" More...
Ecnephias is thrilled to present the official video clip for "Vipra Negra" taken from the band's self-titled fifth full-length album, ready to be released via My Kingdom Music on February 16th, 2015. Check it out below. Mancan, the voice, guitar player and mastermind of the band, had this to say:
"We shot the video on two different days with the direction of Felice Vino and the support of Giuseppe Pupillo, in various locations around our city, an ancient house called Casa Spera in Tito (PZ) and among wheat fields.
"A lot of friends offered their help, showing up for some of the scenes or bringing animals for the scenes and we had also the pleasure to work with the actress/model Nunzia Palma. The plot is inherent to the lyrics of the song and it deals with the way of the left hand path, the feeling with the dark forces of life depicted by a sensual and symbolic woman. The woman is the snake, poison and antidote”. More...

Swedish hard-rocking classic metallers Horisont are returning with "Break the Limit," a stop-gap release between albums due out March 16th.
Following the success of third album, "Time Warriors," the titans do not hold back with this relentless, anthemic slab of full on heavy metal glory.
Backed with the synthesizer enhanced track "Yellow Blues," the two-track EP is a good indication of how far these guys have come and what a monstrous prosposition their fourth studio album is looking to be.

The group recently released a music video for single "1%" and also dropped the track "You’ve Got A Bad Case of The Religions" from the forthcoming album as a taste of what’s to come.
From the western shores of Norway comes Infernal Manes, delivering heavy metal to the hordes who still swear oath to the glory days. The band will reissue its cult demo, "Battle of Souls," as a limited-edition self-titled vinyl LP on January 12th, 2015 via Edged Circle Productions. The label comments:
"Formed in the mid '90s, the band played a handful of exclusive shows and quickly gathered a diehard following in the darkest corners of the underground. Cloaked in the veil of NWOBHM and early hard rock acts such as early Scorpions, Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate, Manilla Road, Accept, and Iron Maiden, Infernal Manes recorded several demos before they finally recorded a professional recording in a studio in 2004.
"Shortly after that recording, vocalist TJ Cobra parted ways with the band, but the legacy of this now-cult recording finally sees the light of day on vinyl through Edged Circle Productions in a remixed version, sounding the way it was meant to be: take heed and join us in the Battle of Souls!"
The track listing is as follows:
1. Symphony Of War
2. Infernal Manes
3. Mind Destructor
4. True Force Of Power
5. Battle Of Souls
6. Come To The Sabbath

Ottawa, ON's Chariots Of The Gods split with the band's vocalist and drummer back in May, and today the group is proud to announce new vocalist Chris Therien (ex-Defy the Crown, ex-Sordid) and drummer Dave Gravel (ex-Mortor, ex-Nonsense) have joined the lineup. The band had this to say:
"It’s the beginning of an exciting new chapter for us. Playing with Dave and Chris is a lot of fun, but most of all, feels right. Dave is a machine on the drums and we’re positive that he’ll elevate our music and live performances to another level. With Chris on vocals, it brings in a whole new sonic range that we’ve been wanting to explore and can finally venture into with confidence. We are back and stronger than ever."
New vocalist Chris Therien comments: "It’s a great pleasure and an honor to be part of this band. I’ve heard nothing but great tunes and great words about COG. I’m pretty excited and looking forward to being a part of what’s coming next... and that, in my opinion, will kick some serious ass! Be prepared!"

Dutch outfit Onheil today publishes the title track from latest album "Storm Is Coming." The song is accompanied by an animated video based on the album cover and booklet artwork. "Storm Is Coming" was released last September by German record label Cyclone Empire.

He comments: “We always try to offer something extra with our artwork and music videos, to give a bit more insight in what the songs are about. Our album booklets are always full of artwork related to the songs, making our lyrical concepts more visual and hopefully spark the imagination of the listener. But for the guitar solos I like to rely on a simple laptop and my faithful Eleven Rack, which allows me to record my parts (regular audio track + contemporaneous DI signal to be re-amped later) wherever I want in the world and with total freedom.'
