Akron, Ohio's If These Trees Could Talk has signed with Metal Blade Records, which had this to say:
"The post-rock outfit was properly formed in 2005 and has grown tremendously since their humble origins in Zack Kelly's basement as an instrumental project in college. They have since released two full length albums and an EP.
"Both albums, plus the EP, are available now digitally, but the albums have been out of print on CD. Both 'Red Forest' (2012) and 'Above the Earth, Below the Sky (2009) are being repressed on CD by Metal Blade Records and will be available worldwide on January 27th, 2015! Music and cd pre-orders are available now at this location. More...
Ritual psych sludge trio Nibiru is going to re-release the band's first two albums through Argonauta Records, and will also record a new album. The label comments:
"'Caosgon' (2013) and 'Netrayoni' (2014) got great feedback across the board, being top albums on many relevant channels. With their unique blend of drone, doom, and sludge, Nibiru are authors of an impressive wall of sound where the extreme art of improvisation has its natural home.
"Both albums will be again available on January 19th, 2015. The band is now working on the new album, to be released early 2015. Expect a blast!" More...

Corrections House is currently terrorizing the U.S. on a three-week live takeover. The expedition kicked off on November 30th in Boston, Massachusetts and will draw to a close on December 20th in Portland, Oregon.
Corrections House minister of propaganda, Seward Fairbury, just sent the following roadside missive:
"The people of this country are lazy asses who want to sit around and believe the fear and lies that their TVs bring into their homes every night. Although the attendance has averaged around 200 people per night, on more than one night of this tour the turnout to our gigs was affected adversely by the fear-mongering in the press surrounding Corrections House.
"The boys have expressed to me their pleasure in getting out of the Northeast and Midwest and heading to the soul of America in the South and the Wild West were people are traditionally freer in their minds. Corrections House brings a very unique and intense performance to the stage every night and we look forward the last eight days of this journey. Step forward Americans, embrace the horror with clear hearts and open arms."

Death DTA Tours regret that, due to several factors, Massacre will not be taking part in the "Symbolic 20th Anniversary" European tour in late February/March 2015.
Unfortunately, Massacre also had to cut its participation in the Swamp Leper Stomp '14 tour with DTA, Obituary and Rivers Of Nihil by one show.
Massacre bassist Terry Butler and vocalist Ed Webb today issued joint statements indicating that they have formally exited the band.
Said Terry Butler: "It's with a heavy heart that I am announcing my departure from Massacre. I wish Ed, [drummer] Mikey [Mazzonetto] and [guitarist] Rick [Rozz] the best of luck with their future endeavors. I would like to thank the awesome fans for their support and loyalty and to those who labored to help bring the band back from beyond. Thank you as well....Arrivederci!"
Adds Ed Webb: "After much thought and consideration it is with deep regret that I announce my departure from Massacre. This was not an easy decision to make but a necessary one. The last four years have had its share of both unbelievable times as well as some times I wish to forget. I want to thank all of the Massacre fans, those who accepted me as the new vocalist as well as those who didn't. You guys gave me the desire to work harder than I ever had in the past. I also had the privilege to play some of the most incredible shows, do some killer tours and meet a lot of great people along the way. At this point, I am going to just concentrate on my two main projects [Generichrist and Destined To Ruin] as well as a few other projects I am working on. I want to endlessly thank Terry, Rick and Mikey for the opportunity to record an absolutely crushing CD and get to tour around the world with them. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors. I hope to see everyone in the future and thanks for letting me do what I live to do!"
Earlier this year American black/death metal band Acheron released "Kult Des Hasses" on Listenable Records. Now the band has checked in with the following year-end recap:
"Due to some issues within the band didn’t play any shows during most of the year and later parted ways with long time drummer Kyle Severn. After this time former guitarist Shaun Cothron rejoined the line-up and Brandon Howe was hired to play drums for their November/December shows entitled 'Unleash Hell 2014.'
"Howe is working out so well that Acheron has officially hired him as their official drummer. Brandon has been very dedicated and has shown a tremendous amount of energy and creativity. He is a very solid drummer and playing live with him has been a pleasure. After rehearsing our set list we started to work on a couple new songs. He was very easy to work with and brings a lot to the table. After our show in Baltimore we knew he was going to be our new drummer.
"Acheron will be finishing up 2014 shows this weekend on December 12th (Indianapolis, Indiana) and December 13th (Chicago, Illinois). When they finish the run, Acheron will start working on material for their next album.
"The goal for next year is to work on new music and do as many shows as possible. Acheron has never been an extensive tour band and they hope to change that in 2015! Acheron has recently been added to the roster for The Flaming Arts Agency for any European or Asian booking.
Last but not least, Acheron finally released the video for 'Satan Holds Dominion,' which is on the Listenable Records official YouTube." More...

Apophys has checked in with the following statement about signing a new record deal:
"We are extremely thrilled to announce that we have inked a deal with none other than Metal Blade Records! It's an honour to release our debut album on a label with such an outstanding reputation. We would like to thank you all for bearing with us, your on going support is invaluable. Stay tuned for more news on the album over the next few weeks!"
The new album “Prime Incursion” is due out in 2015. The band boasts members of renowned Dutch bands including God Dethroned, Prostitute Disfigurement, Detonation and Toxocara. Vocalist Kevin Quilligan comments:
"APOPHYS [ah/po/fihs] - a word derrived from Apophis, the near-Earth asteroid that caused a brief period of concern because initial observations indicated a probability that it would hit Earth on April 13, 2029. A collision of immeasurable proportions.
“The thought of our planet floating through a galactic minefield makes me think about how frail our existence really is. And where some might consider this to be a negative and demotivating thought; I used this realization to create something truly apocalyptic. A full self sufficient Death Metal machine in which I as a person am frail, but as part of this more powerful than ever. This is Apophys. We are coming.”

"Liars/Bastards" was produced by the band and engineered and mixed by Price at his studio called The Compound, in Somerset, England.
"Liars/Bastards is a painfully honest soundtrack to our current world," Price says about the new record. "We're dealing with hidden esoteric truths, paranoia, loss, love and hate." More...

"'Fluxion' comes with the artwork of the 2009 version, 3 LPs in a gatefold sleeve with silver hot foil stamping / engraving. Includes download codes for both versions, as well as a (previously unreleased) mastered instrumental version of the album.
"'Aeolian' comes with the original artwork, matching the 'Fluxion' artwork. 2 LPs in a gatefold sleeve with gold hot foil stamping / engraving. Side D contains bonus tracks of the 2002 demo: an early, longer (12 minutes!) version of the track 'Queen Of The Food Chain,' and an early version of the track 'Inertia,' both recorded live in studio at the University of Fine Arts (HdK) in Berlin in 2002 already, 4 years before the album came out, with original vocalist Markus Gundall.

Winterfylleth has checked in with the following announcement about missing tonight's live show:
"Friends, we are disappointed to announce that Winterfylleth will be unable to make it to Dublin to support Behemoth this evening (11th December 2014).
"Much like the subject matter of our recent single 'Whisper of the Elements' we once again demonstrate how nature is indeed greater than man.
"This time, unfortunately, we are the victims of natures might and the weather is too adverse for us to be able to traverse the seas to Eire.
"Every effort has been made by the promoters and the production crew to find a workaround for ourselves and the other support bands, but this was not possible at such a late stage.
"We will return in 2015! Till then." More...
Frosttide's new album "Blood Oath" is going to see the light of day on February 27th, 2015 via NoiseArt Records. The label comments:
"The album follows the same air as 'Awakening' as these are both connected. But this is all taken to the next level! It is going to be aggressive, heavy, melodic, bombastic and with very deep and beautiful atmospheres."
Frosttide also had this to say: “When recording 'Awakening' we decided to make a set of brother albums. We saved one song from 'Awakening' to be on the second record. So, even though this is our second record, we decided to base the lyrics on the story that occurred before 'Awakening.' Making this a prequel. The story allows the listener to know where everything originated and what led to the arrogant and greedy attitude that can be seen in the protagonist of 'Awakening.'"

Icelandic classic rock trio The Vintage Caravan will enter the studio on January 8th, 2015 in order to record the band's next album.
Recording for the follow-up to 2014's "Voyage" is due to take place in an isolated fjord where the band will set up a studio in an old ballroom and work with producer Axel "Flexi" Árnason. Recording sessions will last 2 weeks, aiming for a release in the first half of 2015.
Commented the band: "The songwriting sessions have been going on since around October 2012 when our album 'Voyage' had been out in Iceland for a month. We immediately started writing at that point so some of the songs are quite old for us. Because of that we have a bit too many songs but we intend to make this album around 10 tracks so we can put what we think are the best tracks on the album.
"Right now we are doing demos, polishing the stuff and thinking of ways to nicely add to the production of the songs. We are very excited to start recording this album. It's going to be interesting to work on. The album is a bit different from our previous album - it's a bit darker, a bit heavier, a bit more melodic but definitely all in a good way."
The London-based metal shapeshifters from Code will release their bold new album entitled "mut" on February 27th in Europe and March 10th in North America via Agonia Records.
Tearing down the barriers of extreme metal limitations, Code has taken a daring plunge into the unknown following an urge for further unhampered expression, and delivers a dynamic progressive post-rock album that is sure to cause a stir. The premiere song off the release entitled "dialogue" is now available for listening below (yes, all the song and album titles are annoyingly lowercase).
On the new album, the band commented: "mut is the sound of us as a band freeing ourselves not just from the confines of what Code is, but from genre conventions of any description. The time for conforming has past and we have created an album that is the purest distillation of our creative ambition. This is the first time in the history of the band that we have created music with no reference points and as a result, this is our most stark, intimate and emotional album."
"mut" was recorded in the famed Brighton Electric Studios (The Cure, Foals, Nick Cave, Royal Blood) with engineer and producer Paul 'Win' Winstanley. Cover artwork and layout have been created by the Austrian designer Thomas Neulinger. The track listing is as follows: More...

Jimmy Cabbs of KNAC.com conducted an interview with guitarist Nige Rockett of British thrashers Onslaught at the final show of the band's North American "Thrash Invasion Tour 2014" with Artillery. You can now listen to the chat using the PodOmatic widget below.
A few excerpts read as follows:
On why Onslaught didn't cancel the North American tour once it became clear that singer Sy Keeler wasn't going to be able to make the trek due to health issues with Keeler's son:
Rockett: "We've got bills to pay, families to feed. And it's not only us; it's the other bands involved on the tour… (Denmark's Artillery). If we would have canceled this, this would have been their second U.S. tour cancelation, which would really have done them serious damage, I think — to cancel two tours in two years. So we had an obligation to those guys as well, and also our booking agent, who worked solidly for two or three months booking this tour and put so much time and effort in. And we can't just shit on these guys, you know!? They worked hard and we've gotta look after their careers as well as our own. As I said, we've got bills to pay, families to feed.
Rockett:"If you look at the music industry, a lot of bands have to do it. You look at Anthrax, Slayer… They all go out with stand-in musicians. It's all across the board. It just doesn't work sometimes for bands these days. The money's not there, so people have other commitments outside of bands and stuff, and that's the way it's gotta be in 2014."
On why Onslaught chose to work with former Anthrax singer Neil Turbin as the stand-in vocalist for the North American tour:
Rockett: "We spoke to 5 or 6 really top vocalists that I feel are particularly good guys, great guys, we're friends with and we have been friends with for many years. I won't mention their names or bands, but unfortunately, due to commitments that they already had, they couldn't make it. They were, like, 'Wow! You want us to sing for Onslaught.' But sadly it didn't work. We were working with this young German guy, and the energy and attitude he had was fantastic. He was not quite there with the vocals — he was very dramatic in his delivery, which was maybe not quite right for us — but he had everything else. But then we met with management and agents, blah blah blah, and they kind of figured it wasn't good to go out with a unknown [singer]. Because of the story, they needed a name to stand in. And that was it. That was, basically, what swung us to Neil Turbin." More...
