Defenestration Part with Drummer, Management
British act Defenestration are once again on the lookout for a new drummer, having recently parted ways with Ben Gordelia.
According to frontwoman Gen, "there have been a series of set backs that have put us off track for a while but now as they seem to be being resolved we thought it time to explain ourselves. The drummer curse that has hit us time and time again has unfortunately hit again, Ben has decided to leave and concentrate on his recording studio. We are all sad to see him go but are well on the way to replacing him. Another setback is that we have ceased working with our management. This will not stop us, however. We are recording a demo of new stuff soon and are going to plan a tour. We have a second album written that kicks the shit out of the first and we cant wait to start touring the new stuff."
Dark Funeral Blame Tour Promoter for Cancellation
Sweden's Dark Funeral have rejected accusations by an Australian promoter that their "unprofessionalism" has resulted in their proposed Australasian tour being cancelled and have blamed the promoter's own unethical behavior for the tour's failure to materialize.
"Well, what can I say????" bassist/vocalist Emperor Magus Caligula began when contacted by Blabbermouth.net for a comment on the tour's cancellation. "It says [in the promoter's statement] that they have been organizing this 'tour' for 2 months???? Why did we hear about it just three weeks ago?? That's why and the only reason for us not coming over — we simply did not know anything about it! I must say it's [the promoter's] own unprofessionalism that has caused this, not ours. If they had contacted us, the band that they were booking, so at least we could prepare, and know what we were doing and so on... [But] noooooo.....
"I blame this on the so-called 'agency' to start a rumor and put the band in a bad position. I just feel sorry for our fans over there [in Australia] who have to suffer for being misled by a fucked-up agency .
"We do want to play Australia, but would then know so at least a few months (2-3) in advance.
"Sorry for this, bro', but there is nothing I can do..."
Suffocation's Mike Smith On Reunion
Suffocation drummer Mike Smith has denied former bassist Chris Richards' assertions that the legendary death metal act's planned reunion is purely money-motivated and has indicated that a new album from the group may surface sometime next year, provided the quintet's upcoming tour and subsequent songwriting sessions prove to be a success.
In the following exclusive interview conducted via e-mail, Smith offers insight into the group's future plans and their reasons for returning to the scene after a four-year hiatus. More...
Guns N' Roses Reportedly Working on US Tour
Guns N' Roses will reportedly kick off a 40-plus date North American arena tour in late October in the Northeastern U.S., according to Billboard Bulletin. So far, no dates have yet been announced, although rumors suggest that an October 22nd date at Chicago's Allstate Arena is in the works. Reports that the band is asking for a $500,000 guarantee per show have also remained unconfirmed at this time.
The forthcoming trek will mark the band's first full-blown U.S. tour since playing 29 shows in 1993 that grossed $13.7 million. The group successfully toured Japan and Europe this summer and made a surprise appearance last week on the MTV Video Music Awards, performing the new song "Madagascar" amid old favorites "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City".

The Project Hate Splits with Massacre
The Project Hate, featuring Jörgen Sandström of Entombed/Grave fame on lead vocals, have parted ways with Massacre Records and are presently seeking a new deal. According to guitarist Lord K (a.k.a. Kenth Philipson), "we do not want to make the same mistake again and sign a deal too fast this time as those two years at Massacre feel like they were [wasted], therefore we are checking out different labels and comparing them to each other.
"We are in the process of writing material for the third album as I type this and plan to record it sometime in the spring of 2003. We know we are damn good and what we need is a label that understands what we wanna do and has interest in supporting the material as it should be supported."
