Elvenking's Damnagoras Leaves
Elvenking vocalist Damnagoras has left the band. Here's the official statement:
"This decision was taken by mutual consent. All this happens only few days before the gig at the Bloodstock Festival, and the former singer decided not to play that show. Elvenking did their very best to find a temporary substitute for the festival but the time was too short to find any solution, so their show will be canceled. 'We deeply want to honor this event,' says guitarist Jarpen. 'We will play there, in spite of the bad circumstances. The band will be joined on stage by our dear friend Martin Walkyier to perform more Skyclad tracks. We are extremely sorry as we know that many English kids wanted to see Elvenking play their songs in their homeland. When there will be another chance to play in the UK, we will come back and put on fire the whole crowd no doubt! We'll give our best with Martin and we are sure it will be a hell of a good gig anyway. See you there!"

Metal Vocalists Spotlighted in book on Singers
Queensrÿche's Geoff Tate, Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson, Testament's Chuck Billy and Judas Priest's Tim "Ripper" Owens are some of the vocalists featured in the new book entitled Pro Secrets Of Heavy Rock Singing, which is being described in an official press release as "the first instructional singing book to address exclusively rock singing in the singers' own words. Learn to sing like a pro, maximize your vocal range, increase power and avoid burnout. Learn what to do on the road before and after a show to maintain your voice. International stars share their insider knowledge."
The book includes exclusive interviews with the above-mentioned singers, plus Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple), James LaBrie (Dream Theater), David Draiman (Disturbed), John Bush (Anthrax), Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy), and many more.
"I almost devoured this book the first day I got it," said Gossow. "It's thrilling to read about Bruce or Chuck's survival techniques. It's so releasing to learn they also have problems from time to time, and nearly everybody blew his voice out at least once — and everybody got it back with proper vocal coaching. Including myself, haha... Vocalists, growlers, screamers: GO GET IT! It should be published very soon."
Pro Secrets Of Heavy Rock Singing, written by Bill Martin, is being published by Sanctuary Publishing Limited. For more information, click here.

Firebird Cancel Three Spanish Dates
Britain's Firebird, led by former Carcass/Napalm Death guitarist Bill Steer, have cancelled three Spanish shows that were originally scheduled to take place this weekend. According to an official statement from the group, "the reason for this cancellation is that the band were given the above confirmed dates less than three weeks ago. This meant that it became extremely difficult to find a way to travel out to Spain and play the gigs without losing money, as the cheap air tickets had already been taken. Added to this was the fact that both [bassist] Roger [Nilsson, The Quill/Spiritual Beggars] and [drummer] George [Atlagic, The Quill] already had commitments immediately before and after the shows, which narrowed down the options even further. Ultimately they couldn't find any way to do this without losing a lot of money, and that's something the band cannot sustain. There is presently no label for Firebird in Europe [following a split with Music For Nations Records—ed.], and therefore no source of tour support, which makes a situation like this one even harder. Sincere apologies from Firebird to all concerned, particularly everyone that hoped to see us in Spain. Next time it'll work out."
