Cornell + Rage = Audioslave
Audioslave has been officially selected as the name of the new project featuring ex-Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and former Rage Against The Machine members Tim Commerford (bass), Brad Wilk (drums), and Tom Morello (guitar). A web site residing on the Sonymusic.com servers has been launched at audioslavemusic.com.
Audioslave recently signed a management deal with The Firm (i.e. Korn, Limp Bizkit, etc.) and are readying the release of their much-anticipated debut album, which is now not expected to surface before early 2003. More...
Beyond The Sixth Seal Complete Full Length
Boston-based metal band Beyond The Sixth Seal has finally completed their new full-length. Although originally scheduled for release through Willowtip Records in the U.S., the album will now be released entirely by Lifeforce Records, both here and abroad. You can listen to the track "The Birthing Appartus" from the new record here. In related news, the band has added The Red Chord guitarist Mike McKenzie as permanent vocalist, effectively replacing Lawrence Kwong, who left the group way back in February. Look for the new album in stores later this year.
Zookeeper to Release EP
New Jersey's Zookeeper, consisting of ex-Luddite Clone(not in Kiss The Cynic) and As Darkness Falls members have been working on songs for the past year and a half. At this point they are comfortable with the new material and plan to enter the studio in late-October to record their debut EP. The release should be available around Christmas-time. In the interim, look for the band to play select shows in the New Jersey area.
Skinless Looking for Drummer
Relapse Records death/grind artist Skinless will once again be looking for a new drummer as George Torres has left the band due to "personal reasons." Torress was originally added to the lineup following the departure of Bob Beaulac in 2001. Beaulac will now be playing drums for the band until a permanent replacement can be found. Skinless will be on the road with Six Feet Under at the end of September into October and following the tour, the band will be auditioning new drummers. Among the criteria for interested candidates is a desire to tour, relocation to upstate NY (with possible accommodations in place), experience, and talent. Deicide Contemplate Their Own Label
Deicide have commenced the songwriting process for their forthcoming studio album, which may or may not surface through the band's own label, drummer Steve Asheim told Britain's Live4Metal in a recent interview.
"We've got three or four songs we've been working with," Asheim said. "Musically, we're in that stage."
Asked about the direction of the new material, the drummer stated: "It sounds like Deicide. It's all it's cracked up to be Deicide-wise. It'll be heavy with brutal vocals, Satanic, and slobbering." More...
Fleshgring Confirmed for Xtreme Benefest
Illinois-based death metallers Fleshgrind will be performing at the Xtreme Benefest at the Royal Oak Theater in Royal Oak, Michigan, near Detroit, on November 15-16. This two-day event will serve as a benefit concert for former Testament/Death guitarist James Murphy (who was diagnosed with a brain tumor last August), and will feature "some of the sickest and most brutal death metal, grindcore, and gore metal bands" in the world. Other artists scheduled to perform include Internal Bleeding, Internal Suffering, Gorgasm, Devourment, Waco Jesus, Summon, Regurtitatoin, Exploding Zombies, Spinecast and many others. Amon Amarth Complete Versus the World
Sweden's Amon Amarth have completed work on their new album, Versus The World, for a January release through Metal Blade Records. The limited first edition will be a double-CD with lots of bonus material. The content of the second CD is not confirmed yet, but will be announced soon.

Cannibal Corpse Issue EP of Rare Material
On October 29th, Cannibal Corpse will be releasing Worm Infested, a six-song EP including three unreleased tracks from their most recent release, Gore Obsessed, a Japanese bonus track, a European bonus track, and a limited-edition bonus track that appeared on Gore Obsessed.
Worm Infested is a strictly limited edition numbered collectors EP, which will only be available through the initial pressing. The CD will be sold exclusively through the band's and Metal Blade Records web site as well as on the band's forthcoming tour, which will be commencing in November 2002. The fall tour will include Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Macabre, and Cattle Decapitation.

Six Feet Under's DVD due Nov. 5th
Six Feet Under's forthcoming live CD/DVD, entitled Double Dead, is due for release on November 5th through Metal Blade.
Lensed at the Lab in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 14th, the group's performance was professionally shot on film by Dave Roth, who directed the band's "The Day The Dead Walked", "Victim of the Paranoid", and "Manipulation", videos, and was digitally recorded live by Chris Carroll who worked with the group on the Maximum Violence, Graveyard, and True Carnage CDs. Songs recorded from shows in Washington and Colorado will also be featured on the live CD, which will be included as part of the DVD package. Also included on the DVD is footage of the in-store signing that took place at Root Cellar Records in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Hibernus Mortis Sign with Horns Up Records
Florida's Hibernus Mortis have inked a deal with Horns Up Records. The band's debut album, The Existing Realms Of Perpetual Sorrow, will be released in the spring of 2003.
Hibernus Mortis recently pressed a limited number of copies of The Existing Realms Of Perpetual Sorrow on their own. The Horns Up Records release will feature the original nine songs, as well as two brand new studio tracks, two live tracks, and a cover of Slayer's "South Of Heaven".
The Project Hate Finalize Killing Hellsinki
The Project Hate, featuring Jörgen Sandström of Entombed/Grave fame, will issue their first-ever live album through Horns Up Records in the fall/winter. Entitled Killing Hellsinki, the album will feature six live tracks, recorded at the Tavastia club in Helsinki, Finland on July 12th, 2002, as well as the band's original 1999 demo, featuring Entombed singer L-G Petrov on "clean" vocals.
