Agathodaimon Lose Vocalist, Writing New Songs

German black metallers Agathodaimon are currently working on the material for their as-yet-untitled fourth album, which they plan to record early next year for a tentative summer 2003 release.

"We'll surely deliver an album that again combines elements of all previous albums, but also will further show some new elements in our sound," guitarist Sathonys stated about the upcoming album's musical direction. "There's also some sad news this month, as our Romanian vocalist Vlad decided to finally leave the band, as he wants to emigrate to the US and form a band in the vein of [Marilyn] Manson/Rob ZOmbie there. It wasn't an easy decision, but as he lost his passion for extreme music since quite some time, it's probably the best solution. It won't affect the upcoming album, as even the last album Chapter III was already written and recorded without him. But at least it now enables us to focus on the band without having to worry anymore whether he'll be able to participate somehow on some songs or not (as he was forced to live in Romania the past years). That's a slight relief, although it's very sad to see a friend and gifted songwriter go. But don't worry, we'll keep you up to date concerning his future activities. And who knows, perhaps we'll work together in the future in some way..."

Montreal Metal Fests

Le Medley in Montreal, Quebec will host two metal festivals the weekend of November 8-9, each one of them featuring familiar and up-and-coming names in the world of extreme music.

The first festival, dubbed Powerpack, will take place on November 8th and will feature performances from Anvil, Hanker, Heaven's Cry and Soulforge. The second event, Thrashback, will follow on November 9th and will include the much-anticipated live debut of the all-star thrash metal tribute band called Black Cloud, featuring ex-Voivod bassist Jean-Yves Thériault (a.k.a. Blacky), Pierre Rémillard (ex-Obliveon) on guitar, Daniel Mongrain (Martyr) on guitar, Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) on drums, and Patrick Mireault (Ghoulunatics) on vocals. Also set to make an appearance on the bill are Horfixion, Ashes of Eden, and Last Breath.

Le Medley is located at 1170 St-Denis Street (corner René-Lévesque) in Montreal.

Powerpack and Thrashback are open to all ages, with the doors set to open at 6:30 p.m. and showtime scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Medication Gets New Drummer

Place of Skulls Gets Trouble Guitarist

After a very sucessful rehearsal/audition last weekend in Tennessee, none other than ex-Trouble bassist Ron Holzner has become the newest member in Place of Skulls. Now that the new line-up is complete, we'll be concentrating on new material for the next 'Skulls release to be recorded in January 2003. There is also the possibility of a live show sometime between now and then.
