Machine Head Post Final 'Elegies' DVD Teaser

The fourth and final weekly video teaser for MACHINE HEAD's brand-new DVD, "Elegies", has been posted online at the group's official web site, featuring the full-length video for the song "Seasons Wither". Head over to this location to get your exclusive sneak peek. "Elegies" is available in stores around the world today, October 10 (one day later in the U.S.).

As previously reported, MACHINE HEAD's first-ever DVD release focuses around (and contains the entirety of) the band's performance at London's Brixton Academy, filmed on December 5, 2004. In addition, the disc features three behind-the-scenes vignettes, focusing on the making of the band's newest record, "Through the Ashes of Empires", life on the road with MACHINE HEAD, and an up-close and personal look at the greatest horde of lunatics in the world — MACHINE HEAD fans. Viewers have the choice of watching the vignettes interstitially (injected into the concert footage) or on their own. On top of that, three music videos — "Imperium", "Days Turn Blue to Gray" (both uncensored and uncut) and "The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears" — are also included, each accompanied by its own behind-the-scenes "Making of" documentary. All of the aforementioned behind-the-scenes and documentary material has been recompiled and re-edited from over 300 hours of footage amassed by the band since writing for "Through the Ashes of Empires" began in 2003, providing a never-before-seen glimpse into the world of heavy metal's most ferocious empire.

Interview

An Interview with TJ Miller of Still Remains

This interview was conducted on Friday, August 19th 2005, at the HYAMP in Huntington, WV. HYAMP, which stands for Huntington Youth Arts and Music Project, is an all age’s venue run strictly by volunteers, with much of their equipment funded by grant money. The interview took place behind the venue, next to a rail yard. TJ Miller, the lead vocalist of Still Remains, was more than happy to give me the run down of the bands experiences and future thinking. He was fun to talk to, very receptive and whimsical at times, really a unique character. I really enjoyed our conversation and the interview as a whole; I’m looking forward to the opportunity to talk with him again. More...

Virgin Black Working On New Material

Australia's dark-metal-hybrid act Virgin Black are hard at work on new material which will serve as the follow-up to the well-received 2003 offering, "Elegant...and dying". Here is the latest news update from ‘down under’:

“Virgin Black are set to amaze us yet again with the promise of an extraordinary next release. The largest piece of the puzzle to be unearthed thus far is the revelation that they have just finished recording with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, featuring principal violinist Michael Milton and conducted by the A.S.O.'s Bruce Stewart. The sessions were recorded in the lush environment of Adelaide's Grainger Studios with composers Samantha Escarbe and Rowan London said to be overwhelmed by the experience of having ‘notes that were paper-bound, leaping off the page.’ Word is that it should see the light of ! day early next year.”

Chris Cornell Talks to MuchMusic.com

Audioslave dropped by Live@Much on Thursday (October 6), where singer Chris Cornell talked about walking into a sort of family with his former Rage Against the Machine bandmates and whether it was a big step for the former Soundgarden singer to deal with. "Not really. I mean, I felt like it was an opportunity that could yield something extremely fruitful and maybe it would; maybe it wouldn't," Cornell responded. "In my mind, I thought, 'This makes a lot of sense.' And I'd had a lot of opportunities to work with a lot of people after Soundgarden split up and none of it ever made sense. And I didn't even make a phone call. But with these guys, it made a lot of sense. I thought of these three guys playing a song that I'm singing over is going to be great. What I didn't know was a week into that we were writing songs like 'Like a Stone' and 'Getaway Car' or 'I Am A Highway', which isn't something that any of us, I think, you know, put our fingers, something that we were going to be able to do that quickly, but we did right away. And so that was fantastic, which it happened so quickly, like I said before, we were finished with the record before I even knew who these guys were."
