Judas Priest To Release Live DVD In November
Heavy metal icons Judas Priest will release the new live DVD 'Rising In the East' on November 15, 2005, via Rhino Home Video.
Vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bass guitarist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis filmed 'Rising In The East' in May 2005 at the legendary Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. The definitive Judas Priest lineup played two sold-out nights at the venue to promote the early-2005 release of the critically acclaimed studio album 'Angel Of Retribution,' their first new material in 15 years. 'Rising In The East' is Judas Priest's first straight-to-DVD release.
"We talked about doing a DVD on this tour and we decided to do it at the Budokan because it's a special venue. It's world-renowned. We thought it was an ideal choice," says Tipton. "We filmed both nights but we ended up using the second night only for this DVD. We wanted it to be as live and as real as possible, and when you start taking from different shows there isn't continuity. We wanted it to be one show and that's exactly what it is." More...

"Hello all!!
"Here is an update to let you know where we stand with the progress of recording the new Eidolon album "The Parallel Otherworld"

"This will also be the first time that we mix and Master the album in my studio, with the help of my great Pro Tools teacher, Tony Crea. Learning all these different things in Pro Tools is so cool, as it really opens the doors to many more possibilities in recording. through the process of doing this new album, right up to the completion, i will have really good handle on what i need to do for all the different stages of recording in the future!
"anyway, my next post will be when the album is 100% complete!
"till then, take care.

Soilwork Frontman Recaps European Tour
Soilwork frontman, Bjorn "Speed" Strid, has checked in with the following update:
"What's up folks!?
"We came home from the european tour 3 days ago.. I tell you, we had such a blast on the road with our friends in Hatesphere and Construcdead. All the shows had a really great vibe and almost every venue was packed.. I wanna thank both Hatesphere and Construcdead guys for making it a very memorable trip. Last but not least, all the people coming to the shows, you guys are the best!!!
"I also want to send some special cred to the Construcdead guys since they've been my friends for like ten years, you guys rock! It was also a great experience to have my very best friend Jens Broman (singer in Construcdead) with me on the road for the first time. We grew up and discovered metal together, i will never forget this moment for as long as i live (we did it bro!!)
"I'm leaving for Japan tomorrow with my family..First "real" vacation in 5 years, it'll be great since my parents has never really travelled and haven't been flying for about 25 years... It's time to get my dad into the "evil" japanese Yamazaki whisky hehe..
"As you know, the Northamerican tour is around the corner as well. I actually met the Darkane guys today down at the station on their way to the airport. I tell you, those guys are up for the ride and are psyched to blast Americas ears.. It'll be a good tour... some kind of a monster drummer festival, right?
"See you on tour soon...

The Risk Taken Update and Guitarist Search
The Risk Taken have issued the following update about their guitarist situation and new album:
First of all, we want to acknowledge that our second guitarist Mark Choiniere has left our fold to join the ranks of Throwdown (this happened a couple months ago) and we wish him the best of luck in that endeavor. We have had for the past months Matt Fox of Shai Hulud noteriety filling in on guitar for us and he will likely be playing with us for the next month or so as we continue our search for a new guitarist. Interested candidates should be willing and able to tour a good bit out of the year, have their own gear and be moderatly capable at their instrument and all of the other crap every single band lists when posting something like this. Having past tour experience is a plus as well as living in the general Connecticut (or willing to relocate to) region. People can email us at therisktaken@hotmail.com.
Also we are currently working on our full-length album entitled "Colossus" which should be coming out early next year. Tracking has been going well and we are very pleased thus far. It's definitely a change for band sonically- signficantly darker and heavier but we assure you that you will not be let down. Think along the lines of Until Your Heart Stops era Cave In and His Hero Is Gone.
Harlots Lose Bassist For A While
Long time bass player/second guitar player Kenny Jones will be temporarily leaving Harlots in November to focus on school and his own band Mugger. Josh Dillon, who plays guitar for Mugger, will be filling his spot on bass. We have decided to stay as a four-piece until Kenny is finished with school.
Kenny will be playing these last three shows:
11/4 Fairborn OH @ Nick's Basement w/ Dead Hearts, Ruiner
11/5 Springfield OH @ Forever Sports w/ The Heartland
11/6 LaPorte IN @ Java Jims w/ Iscariot
Josh will play his first show:
11/19 Newark OH @ GMP Hall w/ Above This Fire

Firewind Working With New Vocalist
FIREWIND, the Greek power metal act led by guitarist Gus G. (DREAM EVIL, ARCH ENEMY), have posted the following message on their official web site:
"As many of you know by now from other online sources, Chity Somapala [vocals] has decided to leave FIREWIND due to 'personal reasons.' But this doesn't mean that FIREWIND stops right here! We're already working with an incredible new vocalist and have eight brand new songs that kick ass!!
"Due to Chity's sudden departure, our plans for an extensive European tour this fall had to be cancelled. But we will be back on the road as soon as the new album is completed.
Although nothing's confirmed by now, we're looking at entering the studio in late January/early February 2006.
"More details and new singer info to follow soon."
FIREWIND's third album, "Forged by Fire", received its long-overdue U.S. release in July via Magick Records (a division of Cleopatra Records).
Somapala originally joined FIREWIND in early 2004 as the replacement for Stephen Fredrick. Chity appeared on "Forged by Fire", which was produced by band leader/guitarist Gus G. and mixed by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. Guest musicians on the album included former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman and ex-TESTAMENT/DEATH axeman James Murphy.
Gus G. recently toured with ARCH ENEMY on Ozzfest 2005 as the group's touring guitarist after Christoper Amott bowed out of that band in order to "fully concentrate on his studies at home in Sweden," according to ARCH ENEMY axeman Michael Amott.

Adema Frontman Leaves the Band
ADEMA have confronted their second singer, following Marky Chavez, now leaving the band. Former Marine Luke Caraccioli has announced his departure from the Earache Records group. His satement is below:
"I know that there are a lot of rumors floating around the internet, and I want to make sure that you guys the dedicated fans here the truth straight from me."
"I want to first and formost dispell any rumors that I hate Kris or ANY member in Adema, I do not nor will I ever hate them, and the person that is spreading that kind of garbage is an attention hungry person that likes to spread around drama."
"Now, It is with an extremely heavy heart that I say that just a few hours ago I made the decision to leave Adema."
"This decision is going to be a shock to you all I am sure, and I am deeply sorry that I could not stay in the band. I do not wish to get into the details or reasoning for this decision other than to say that it is for my own personal reasons and a decision that I HAD to make at this point in my life."
"I hope that you all will stay on board with the guys from Adema, they are mega talented musicians, and I am sure that they will have something going on in the near future."
"I have greatly enjoyed getting to know all of you, and talking to you guys on line, you are all the greatest fans in the world and without you it would have meant nothing to be in a band at all. You guys have been VERY accepting and caring towards me and for that I am forever thankful as well, I look forward to continuing to talk to you anytime you want."
"I am not sure of what my future holds, but I have been jamming with the guys from my old band Rewind Yesterday in my off time from touring with Adema, AGAIN this has NOTHING to do with me leaving, it was until now a side project with my close friends. IF you wish to keep up with what is going on with me, I invite you all to check out the following link.
Sincerely,
Luke Caraccioli:

Tony Iommi Comments On Dio Collaboration
BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has issued the following statement regarding the reports that vocalist Ronnie James Dio (DIO, ex-RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH) will be collaborating with Iommi on two tracks for an upcoming project tentatively dubbed "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years":
"We’d like to thank Wendy Dio [Ronnie's manager] for talking sense about the rumours concerning Ronnie Dio and BLACK SABBATH. To reiterate, Warner Bros. Records have been looking at putting out a SABBATH box set featuring Ronnie for some time and recently the search for previously unreleased material began. Amongst this, there are unfinished demos but they may not be considered worthwhile, in which case the guys might write something new. This is a long-term album project and no release date has been set."
As previously reported, Dio told BBC Radio 2's "Masters of Rock" program that "Tony Iommi and I are going to write a couple of tracks together for a project that I think is called 'Black Sabbath – The Dio Years'. So that'll be two unreleased tracks which I'm sure will be interesting to old SABBATH fans, and maybe [even] the new SABBATH fans."
Dio recorded a total of three studio albums with BLACK SABBATH — 1980's "Heaven and Hell", 1981's "Mob Rules" and 1992's "Dehumanizer" — in addition to appearing on the classic live album "Live Evil" in 1983.

Rob Flynn Talks About Roadrunner All Star Sessions
Austin Powell of The Daily Texan recently conducted an interview with MACHINE HEAD frontman Robert Flynn about Robert's contributions to the ROADRUNNER UNITED "The All-Star Sessions" CD, a collection of original tracks that are collaborations between numerous Roadrunner Records stars. The short question-and-answer session follows:
Daily Texan: Jeff Waters (guitarist for ANNIHILATOR and solo musician on two of Flynn's tracks [on "The All-Star Sessions" CD], "The Dagger" and "Independent"), goes absolutely off on this album. What was your relationship with him before the project?
Robert Flynn: "We never toured with ANNIHILATOR. That was a little before our time. I actually met him while coming home from England. This guy standing in front of me at customs was wearing an ANNIHILATOR shirt, which is really rare. You just don't see it coming to America, so I was just like 'Are you in ANNIHILATOR?' and he was like, 'Yeah, Robert Flynn?' And I was like 'Yeah,' and we just kind of hit it off from there."
Daily Texan: Waters is definitely an amazing shredder, but let's talk about your guitar work on the album. What brought about that 3-part guitar harmony in "Independent"?
Robert Flynn: The whole concept of that song is loosely based around [late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist] 'Dimebag' Darrell. Around the time of his death this guy named William Grim put out an article on this extremely conservative web site called The Iconoclast entitled, 'R.I.P. Dimebag Abbott and Good Riddance.' It basically called him a scumbag that brought this on himself. It was pretty vile and it was published the day after his murder. I copied it, and sent it to Max Cavalera [SOULFLY, ex-SEPULTURA], who ended up singing on the track. So the topic of the song is a response to that and three-part guitar harmony was just going for this big, epic guitar-oriented outro piece with piano and strings as a kind of tribute to him."
Daily Texan: How did your track with Howard Jones of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE come about?
Robert Flynn: "I had written the song and it had a killer melodic hook, and I envisioned Howard singing it from the get-go. I thought it would be cool to hear him on 'The More Things Change'-era MACHINE HEAD track. I wrote the vocal melody and lyrics, recorded it and sent it to him. He was originally just supposed to be the singer, but during the course of recording we started messing around with it and I started singing. It kind of just became the 'Ebony and Ivory' of metal music. The whole process was just spontaneous. So much of what you hear is a first take, just this magical moment put to tape."
