Kreator Forced To Pull Out Of Izmir Rock Fest
German thrashers KREATOR were forced to cancel their appearance at the Izmir Rock Festival in Turkey on Saturday, October 1.
Commented mainman Mille Petrozza: "We are very disapointed about the unacceptable conditions we had to face in Izmir last Saturday! The band was looking foreward to play this part of Turkey for the first time, but were not willing to risk our lives or the lives of our fans! We believe that the Izmir audience deserves a real KREATOR show, all or nothing, no fucking compromise! End of story!!!!!"
Pit Bender, KREATOR's tour manager, sent the following more detailed statement regarding the cancellation:
"Because of risk of danger, especially stage and lightrigg, we were not able at all to put on a show in Izmir. All efforts to make the organization change these technical conditions failed and in last consequence after several hours of discussion, we unfortunately had to make this decision.
1. The stage structure was way too unstable and wouldn't hold any pressure through an intense KREATOR show of two hours, especially with the great audience that we've always experienced in Turkey...
2. Light rig, stage: all four towers were not safe; any pressure, physically, could have made it come down.
3. The stage had no roof. Halfway through the show there would have been heavy rain, so the show would have to be stopped anyway, with the risk of electric shocks etc.
4. No efforts at all by the promoters to have proper and safe conditions for the audience and the band.
5. After all this and under these circumstances we finally had to come to this decision.
We feel very sorry for all of our disapointed fans out in Izmir, but hope to come back under better and especially safe circumstances."
VH1 To Air 'Definitive History' Of Heavy Metal
VH1 has announced plans to launch "VH1 Rock Docs", an all-new slate of high-end feature-length programs in 2006. Each of the docs will reveal an untold story in the history of rock and hip-hop music, combining never-before-seen footage with a unique and unconventional narrative approach. The documentaries will tell some of the most unique stories of the artists and music from a wide range of genres, styles, and musical perspectives. The "VH1 Rock Docs" slated for premiere in 2006 include a four-hour definitive history of heavy metal, "The U.S. vs. John Lennon", "The Last Days of Lisa Lopes" and "DMC: The Real Me". Additional documentaries will be announced shortly. A brief synopsis of the heavy metal documentary reads as follows:
"What Ken Burns did for jazz, VH1 does for heavy metal — only a lot louder. This four-part documentary traces the evolution of heavy metal music and culture from BLACK SABBATH to WHITE ZOMBIE, from LED ZEP to DEF LEP, from MOTÖRHEAD to MASTODON. In the same vein as VH1's critically acclaimed 2004 hip-hop chronicle, 'And You Don't Stop', this documentary series will use interviews, verite moments and vintage footage to bring metal's history to life, told from the perspective of the musicians, promoters, writers and fans who have kept metal's flame alive for four decades."

Ft. Lauderdale-based hard rock outfit NONPOINT have finalized the track listing for their fourth album, "To the Pain", due on November 8 via Bieler Bros./Lava. "Bullet with a Name", which officially impacts radio on October 10, can be heard online at myspace.com/nonpoint.

Kittie Vocalist Explains Chicago Cancellation
KITTIE vocalist/guitarist Morgan Lander has posted the following message on their official website:
"Hey everyone,
I wanted to come on here and personally apologize to everyone who bought a ticket to the show and spent their hard earned money on travel arrangments to come out to see the show in Chicago. I would have said something yesterday, but truthfully, I was really too upset.
This was a devastating blow to all of us, both financially and personally, as we had a wonderful show the night before and were all excited to play in Chicago.
I was unfortunetly unable to cross the border because of a perceived visa complication, and nothing else. As a Canadian citizen, I need a work visa to be able to play shows and tour in the United States. It is the way the US government operates, and we must abide by the rules. Maybe they singled me out, who knows, but Mercedes, our crew and the other girls got across fine, and myself, who went with the equipment and not the rest of my band, was denied, and subsequently my visa was taken away and voided. I now have to re-petition to get a new visa in order to have the privledge to work in the United States.
You all need to know that this was in no way the fault of the band or managment, and I sincerly apologize for any trouble this has caused. It was merely a technicality and this sort of thing happens to bands all the time.
We would like to try to make this up to you somehow, and those of you who we personally know who have made sacrifices to come and see the show should be made up to in some way...I'll get in touch with you personally to see what we can do...
I feel horrible for what has happened and hope to see you all again soon... "
Scum of the Earth To Go On Tour Again

Metal: A Headbanger's Journey Playing In Vancouver
"Metal: A Headbanger's Journey", a brand-new documentary offering a guided tour through heavy metal's storied but largely ignored history, will be shown at the 24th annual Vancouver International Festival, which is running now through October 14. The film will air on October 7 at 9:45 p.m and again on October 11 at 1 p.m. More information can be found at this location.
"Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" is the brainchild of Sam Dunn, an anthropologist and unreformed headbanger from Victoria, BC, who was originally interested in a book project.
"There were books like Robert Walser's 'Running With the Devil' and Deena Weinstein's 'Heavy Metal' but no one had done a comprehensive history," Dunn told Eye.net in a recent interview. "The reason I was particularly interested at that time was because of the nü-metal thing. I wasn't necessarily a fan of that music, though I thought SLIPKNOT was intriguing because it sounded like eight death metal bands having a wrestling match. But it did get me thinking about it within the scope of the history of the music. This music is changing and evolving and always has been."
Machine Head Post Third Elegies DVD Teaser
Machine Head have posted the third of four weekly video teasers for their upcoming DVD, "Elegies". It features clips from the "Making of Through The Ashes Of Empires" featurette.
To view the teaser, head here.
As previously reported, the DVD release will focus around (and contain the entirety of) Machine Head's performance at London's Brixton Academy, filmed on December 5th, 2004. In addition, the disc will feature three behind-the-scenes vignettes, focusing on the making of the band's newest record "Through the Ashes of Empires", life on the road with Machine Head, and an up-close and personal look at Machine Head fans.
Viewers will have the choice of watching the vignettes either injected into the concert footage or on their own.
On top of that, three music videos - "Imperium", "Days Turn Blue To Gray" (both uncensored and uncut) and "The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears" - will also be included, each accompanied by its own behind-the-scenes "Making of" documentary.
Check back next Monday for the fourth and final teaser, one day before the October 11th release of the DVD.
Enthroned MCD A Hoax
It has been brought to our attention that the recent story circulating around the Internet about Enthroned working on a MCD is a hoax, and the result of a hacked email account. You can read the entire statement from the band at their web page (unfortunately it's in Flash in a tiny font that cannot be copy+pasted and is difficult to read).

Nine Inch Nails Drummer Hospitalized Yet Again
Nine Inch Nails drummer Jermoe Dillon is apparently back in hospital, undergoing tests for an as yet undisclosed heart condition. He was hospitalised a couple of weeks ago, after complaining onstage of chest pains. At the time he was diagnosed as suffering from exhaustion and fatigue. NIN mainman Trent Reznor has strongly denied that this latest incident has anything to do with drink or drugs.
Lordi Finish Recording Album
Finnish metalheads Lordi are currently recording their new album with producer Jyrki Tuovinen. Tentatively called 'The Arockalypse', it will include the following songs 'Bringing Back The Balls To Rock', 'Evilove', 'The Night Of The Loving Dead', 'The Chainsaw Buffet' and 'Good To Be Bad'.
Mudvayne Refine Their Craft
'Lost and Found' sees Mudvayne moving away from songs that focus strictly inward, with tracks such as 'Choices' and 'TV Radio' offering social commentary. "In the past, we used to just write parts and cram them all together and call it a song," vocalist Chad Gray tells the Los Angeles Times. "With this album, we wanted to refine our craft. People want to scream sellout, but we feel that radio came to us, and that's not a bad thing."
