Nasum's "Grind Finale" Delayed Again

Nasum drummer, Anders Jakobson, has posted the following message on the band's official website:

"Yet again I am sorry to inform you that "Grind Finale" is delayed a few months more and will be released worldwide in January 2006. It's very sucky and fucked up, but there's nothing we can do at this point.

"The reason this time is yet again a fuck up by the printer who printed the whole booklet on the wrong stock of paper - a superthin paper - so the booklet is too thin for the hardcover. I can't believe this fuck up, but again there's nothing we can do. This release deserves a high quality cover."

Devilinside Finish 10 Songs For New Album

Devilinside vocalist Shaun Scott has posted this update on the official Devilinside website:

"As of late, we have 10 songs written for the next album and man do they fuckin' SLAY! Fans of old are in for a real treat. The only way to classify it is thrashey stroner metal, with Dan Johnson tearin' his kit a new asshole. In other news, as some of you might know already, we were delt a certain hand from a certain company threating a lawsuit because our band name was an "infringment on there rights as a corporation". So due to the circumstances and new lineup, we have found a new name, which we will announce very soon. The proper steps will be taken as to the switching of websites, myspace and anywhere else you can find info about us. So thanks to all the Devilinside fans for the support and all the bands that we have became friends with for the endless love they show, you know who you are. Devin Townsend Discusses New DTB Album

Exalted guitarist and musical visionary Devin Townsend — respected on even terms as Strapping Young Lad's outlandish frontman and as Hevy Devy, the revered solo artist and creative force behind the Devin Townsend Band — is, as he explained, "in a pretty cool place," and he's "really savoring it." Come this time next week, he'll have finished the Devin Townsend Band's forthcoming disc, Synchestra — 13 tracks of which he's calling "sunshine metal."

"Strangely enough, this is the first record I've done that was made to [be] enjoyed," Townsend said. "I'm expecting people to hate [this music], because it's really sensitive and heavy and epic, and everything's really pleasing about it. I don't know how many people want to listen to pleasing music. A lot of people are still into being assaulted every time they turn on their stereo. Those people will think it's a wussy, pain-in-the-ass record. People who're sick of dudes yelling at them will love it."

Synchestra, which will include the songs "Let It Roll," "Hyper-Geek," "Notes From Africa," "Judgment," "A Simple Lullaby" and "Sunshine and Happiness," is even completely devoid of curse words. It should surface in either February or March, he said, and will be distributed throughout the U.S. by Inside Out; he'll also be selling it through his own label's Web site at HevyDevy.com.

Six of the album's 13 cuts, Townsend promised, will clock in at or just under 10 minutes. One even features a guest appearance by imperious guitarist Steve Vai; Townsend wielded the mighty ax and handled backing vocals on Vai's 1993 album, Sex & Religion, and later toured with the virtuoso. So Synchestra's the first time the two have worked together in 12 years.

"I love writing music and songs, but I'm getting more and more tired of playing guitar and singing," he said. "There's this big long part I'd written for this solo, and sometimes, I'm in the headspace for guitar and other times, I'm just not. Right now I'm not. I just couldn't give a f---. So I gave [Vai] a call."

But don't be fooled by Townsend's shiny, happy mien; Synchestra's still going to sound like a true metal record.

"It's super f---ing heavy — like bludgeoningly heavy," he said. "But they're all bludgeoningly heavy lullabies. This is a record you can put on that'll make you feel good. It's like a celebration — something you put on in the morning, or when you want to sing along and laugh and smile, but still have it so heavy that when you crank it up, it will level any of your death-metal competition."

Motorhead's Lemmy: "I'll Never Meet My Secret Son"

Rocker Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister has vowed never to reveal his identity to the secret child he gave away.

The Motorhead frontman has two sons, 38-year-old music producer, Paul, and another who was put up for adoption as a baby.

And Lemmy insists the man is better off without knowing the true identity of his father.

Lemmy says, "He's a computer programmer. His mother went and found him. She's a social worker and wears these diaphanous paisley smocks.

"She said he put his head in his hands when she told him she was his mother so she hadn't the heart to tell him who his father was.

"I figure if I go and meet him for the sake of my curiosity, it might ruin his life. It's better for everyone if I don't.

"I never met him so I don't miss him."

Rammstein Frontman Talks About Gays

Rammstein discuss the controversial single "Mann Gegen Mann" ("Man Against Man") from their new album "Rosenrot" in the latest issue of the Swedish magazine Close-Up. In the chorus, the word "schwule" (German for "faggot") is uttered repeatedly.

In the article, Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann asks the reporter: "Do you think it's homophobic?" When the reporter tells him that it easy to make that assumption, Lindemann responds: "It's natural [to perceive it that way], but it's just a song. It’s about gay men and the fact that they're lucky in a way. They never had to strut in front of girls and bring them ridiculous gifts or make dinner invitations. They just look at each other and decide to go home together. They're in a strange situation, but it's very easy for them to get laid. I write about this in a more poetic fashion. If you just hear the word [schwule] taken out of context it's provocative, but if you really listen to the lyrics you realize that it's not at all meant to be derogatory.

"I'm not going to give out any name, but an English band that we [Rammstein] are friends with has two gay members. We made a bet about something and if I were to lose I had to take the two of them out in Berlin one night and visit all the gay clubs in my neighborhood. Of course, I lost the bet, just like I always do. When we went out, I just thought: 'Wow! This is happening fast!' One glance and then both of them knew exactly what to do. I was jealous. I would love to walk up to a strange woman and go: 'Hi, you're hot. Wanna come back to my place?"

"Rosenrot" also marks Rammstein's first attempt at doing a song entirely in Spanish, "Te Quiero Puta" ("I Want You Whore"). Lindemann explains the lyrical theme: "Some guys, maybe us in the band, ride on to a whorehouse. Some 'puta' opens the door and says, 'Hey, gringos!' These ladies don't do any poetic stuff. It's all about men, women, sex and partying. The story is about this guy who falls in love with one of the women. She tells him: 'I like you, but don't come here with that emotional stuff. I only like your 'fruita,' so let me taste it."

Mayhem To Appear On BBC's "This World"

BBC Television interviewed and filmed Mayhem during their show at the Slottsfjell festival in Tönsberg, Norway earlier this year. The footage is used for their affairs show "This World".

The first broadcast is now confirmed for November 24th 2005 on BBC 2 at 9pm. And it will most likely be picked up by BBC Worldwide and rebroadcast throughout the world later on. "This World" is the flagship of BBC when it comes to current affairs, and is regularly seen by two million people in Britain.

The program series asked Mayhem for their documentary about extreme music around the world, because one part of the film includes the remarkable black metal scene of Norway. The goal of the documentary was to investigate some of the controversies surrounding Extreme Metal Music around the world and ask why extreme metal bands like Mayhem are so popular.

More on Departure of Vomitory Guitarist

Vomitory recently announced the departure of long time guitarist Ulf Dalegren. Here is the band's announcement:

“We are very sorry to break the news that guitarist Ulf Dalegren has decided to leave Vomitory after fifteen years in the band. Life changes quite a lot during fifteen years and the priorities we need to make change as well along with it. We hate to see Ulf go, but we understand and respect his decision to 100%. We part our musical ways as the best of friends and continue as drinking companions just as usual. We wish him the best of luck with everything in the future! Uffe - we salute you!” – Vomitory

In Ulf's own words:

“It’s with great sadness in my worm infested death metal heart that I have to announce my departure from Vomitory. I feel that there’s no need for details. It’s on a personal level, that’s it. All I can say is that there are no hard feelings between me and the other guys. I wish them all the luck and hope that the band will be out there spreading high quality death metal for many years to come. I’ll return, don’t know where - don’t know when. Death is meant to last forever” –Ulf

Vomitory will be playing the scheduled shows in the UK, Ireland, The Netherlands and Sweden in November just as planned. The bands good friend Lord K Philipsson (The Project Hate/God Among Insects) will be helping out on the November shows. Kudos to K! After the November shows Vomitory will begin searching for a new permanent guitarist. More updates on this later.
