Danzig Says Ozzfest Is 'A Corporate Buy-On'
DANZIG mainman/namesake Glenn Danzig recently spoke to MTV.com about the band's current "Blackest of the Black" tour, which features a lineup handpicked by Glenn himself: CHIMAIRA, BEHEMOTH, HIMSA, MORTIIS and THE AGONY SCENE, with DANZIG headlining. Former MISFITS guitarist Doyle Von Frankenstein is joining him onstage each night for a special 30-minute set of MISFITS classics. The 22-date trek runs through October 29 in Los Angeles.
"It's something I've been working on for a long time, and we're finally getting to take it all over the place," Danzig said. "But I don't want it to be like Ozzfest. It's for bands that get ignored by radio and television but sell out venues that are either the same size or bigger than venues that, say, bands that get played a lot on the radio can't sell a ticket to save their lives. It's exactly like when DANZIG and SLAYER came up. No one would play us, but we would go in and sell out venues, to everyone's shock. The Ozzfest is a corporate buy-on, and this is my answer to it.
"The first year we did Blackest, it was SUPERJOINT RITUAL, OPETH, NILE, BEHEMOTH, LACUNA COIL," he continued. "The next year on Ozzfest, a bunch of those bands were on the bill — that's no coincidence. I'm hoping [Blackest] will maybe expose these bands and help them get on some of those other mainstream festivals. But, again, it's not going to be like Ozzfest. I'm not going to be on it every year."
Danzig also addressed reports that "Blackest of the Black" will be his last tour.
"I'm done after this tour," he said. "Maybe I'll change my mind and do some local shows. I don't want to tour anymore. Unless I change my mind — I might just take a break for two or three years. I'm just burned out on it. I don't enjoy it anymore. I love being onstage. But the other 22 hours of the day, spent bouncing around on a bus — I don't know anymore. I'll still be doing music, because that's my first love. But no more tours. This is it."

Korn Shooting 'The Most Insane Video'
KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has posted the following message on his ButtSexCrips.com web site:
"[I've] been having fun chillin' with the family while I've been home for the last two days.
"We [KORN] have been shooting the most insane video. We got one more day and we are done.
"It's nice to have a label that is your partner 'cause they are letting us do whatever we want to do and this video shows that."
KORN's first album as part of their new deal with Virgin/EMI, entitled "See You on the Other Side", is scheduled for release on December 6. The album's first single "Twisted Transistor", debuted last week at No. 27 on Billboard's Modern Rock airplay tally and jumped 31-19 on the Mainstream Rock chart, according to Billboard.com.
"See You on the Other Side" was produced by KORN frontman Jonathan Davis in tandem with Atticus Ross and the pop hitmaking team the Matrix (LIZ PHAIR, HILARY DUFF).
KORN are in the planning stages of a North American run.

Yakuza Signs To Prosthetic Records
Prosthetic Records has announced the signing of Chicago-based YAKUZA to the roster’s ranks. The experimental jazz/metal quartet will be releasing their Prosthetic debut SAMSARA in March 2006.
SAMSARA was financed by the band itself, then shopped around to various labels in search of a partnership with a company that fully understood YAKUZA’s foresight. “Our love for music is the primary motivator behind the band while our desire to kind of push the envelope a bit is right behind it,” comments singer/sax player Bruce Lamont. “We’re really happy that Prosthetic shares this same vision and is 100% supportive of it.”
SAMSARA was recorded by Matt Bayles (Isis, Botch) at Volume Studios in Chicago and hosts a wide variety of musical guests including pianist Jim Baker, cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm, Sanford Parker and Troy Sanders (Mastodon). SAMSARA is full of peaks and valleys, overly aggressive in some spots, mind-trippingly mellow in others. The contrasting soundscapes come together impeccably, creating one of the most all-inclusive albums since Pink Floyd’s classic The Wall.
“We are not trying to be anything except creatively honest with ourselves,” comments singer/sax player Bruce Lamont. “We are not trying to be a jazz metal hybrid band or whatever the fuck we got dubbed in the past. We really just do what comes naturally.”

Ozzy Osbourne Jailed For Life For Murder
Ozzy Osbourne has been jailed for life for murder. But this isn't the man we all know and love. In actuality, this is Gary Bacon, a 42-year-old from Derby who changed his name by deed poll to 'Ozzy Osbourne' a few years ago. Now, he's behind bars for stabbing Gary Hunt to death in North London.
(No it's not April Fools yet, but I couldn't resist that as a legitamate headline)
Nine Inch Nails Drummer May Have To Drop Off Tour
Nine Inch Nails drummer Jerome Dillon may be forced to quit the band's current US tour due to ongoing health problems. If this turns out to be the case, expect A Perfect Circle's Josh Freese to step in.

Five Bolt Main Loses Three Members
New heavy metal outfit Five.Bolt.Main has announced a new lineup effective immediately. Joining Five.Bolt.Main for their upcoming tour dates are three members from the popular New York City-based hard rock group Alston. They are: Kobie Jackson (guitar), Alex Cando (bass), and Ron Paige (guitar). Founding Five.Bolt.Main members Chris Volz (vocals) and Ivan Arnold (drums) remain with the band.
Jackson was the former bass player of heavy metal outfit Primer 55, and later went on to form Alston, dazzling audiences with their infectious live show. Jackson sang and played guitar with Alston, joined by Cando on bass (who also performed with Darwin’s Waiting Room) and Paige on guitar. Alston will continue to open for Five.Bolt.Main and Dry Kill Logic throughout their October tour.
Departing Five.Bolt.Main for the remainder of the tour are Jason Chandler, Ben Arnold, and Aaron Weleken. The three are leaving due to “musical differences and unforeseen rigors of the road.”
Five.Bolt.Main recently released Venting, the band’s hard-hitting debut on Rock Ridge Music. Featuring vocalist and songwriter Volz of the group Flaw, Five.Bolt.Main is already off to a fiery start. The first single from Venting, the powerful “Pathetic,” has already made its debut on MTV 2’s Headbanger’s Ball. It is also being broadcast nationwide with steady spins at Active Rock radio.
“Pathetic” is now being featured on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Octane (Channel 20) as well as the nationally-syndicated radio program hardDrive. In fact, hardDrive has signed on to sponsor the current Five.Bolt.Main tour as well as the Rock Ridge Music tour (also featuring Domeshots and Scars of Life) planned for early 2006.
