KSE Guitarist To Sit Out Taste of Choas Tour

Dutkiewicz' recurring back problem will apparently require surgery, and his participation on this tour would risk additional back problems. The group will instead perform as a four-piece or with roadies filling in and according to KsE, "Adam fully intends to be back on track for any future touring."

Former Immortal Frontman Has a New Project
IMMORTAL frontman Abbath (real name: Olve Eikemo) has reportedly joined forces with original IMMORTAL drummer Armagedda, ENSLAVED guitarist Arve Isdal and GORGOROTH bassist King in a brand-new project dubbed simply I. The group have finished writing two-thirds of the material for their upcoming full-length debut, which will feature lyrics written primarily by former IMMORTAL guitarist Demonaz (real name: Harald Nævdal). The band, who expect to enter the studio before the end of 2005, are said to be contemplating making several festival appearances next year. More information will be made available soon.
Korpiklaani To Begin Recording Third Album
Finnish folk metallers KORPIKLAANI will enter Fantom studio on November 17 to begin recording their third album, entitled "Tales along This Road". A tentative March/April 2006 release is expected.
The group's second album under their current moniker (the group released two albums as SHAMAN), "Voice of Wilderness" was released last January via Napalm Records.
Mortal Sin To Record New Single
Reactivated Australian thrashers MORTAL SIN will enter Megaphon Studios on October 29 with producer Phil McKellar to record a new song, entitled "Out of the Darkness". The track will be released as a CD single, also containing a recently shot video plus live tracks taken from the band's Australian tour with ANTHRAX.
In other news, MORTAL SIN's 20th anniversary editions of the classic "Mayhemic Destruction" (1986) and "Face of Despair" (1989) CDs have been delayed due to licensing problems yet to be resolved. The band are currently offering refunds to those who pre-ordered the albums. Those prepared to wait it out a little bit longer will be rewarded with a bonus CD.
MORTAL SIN parted ways with drummer Wayne Campbell and guitarist Joe Buttigieg earlier in the year and replaced them with Luke Cook (drums) and Nathan Shae (guitar). A three-song demo was completed in late 2004 at Party Pig Studios in Sydney. The recording, featuring the cuts "Out of the Darkness", "Lost Within" and "Rise or Fall", marked the first time the band had laid down any new material since 1996.
MORTAL SIN's new album, "Far from Extinction", is tentatively due in early 2006 via an as-yet-undetermined label.

Orphanage Split Up
Dutch gothic doom/death metal band ORPHANAGE have officially split up. The group's statement on the matter reads as follows:
"From recent internal discussions it appeared that there was too much irritation and a lack of mutual trust to be able to make a new ORPHANAGE product by the high-quality standards that the band has been known for throughout the years. An end has come to 11 years of 'innovative gregorian celtic groovy melodic doom death metal.' We've had a great time. A lot of special moments are in our hearts forever. We were there, YOU were there.
"Please send the news to all that have supported us in all these years, in what form whatsoever. Doesn't matter if you read this for the 100th time, just be sure that we want to thank YOU ALL!!!
"No ORPHANAGE without you; everyone that visited our concerts, that listened to our music, those who have worked for us, worked together with us, those who have shared the ENERGY with us . . . . forever: THANKS!!!"
ORPHANAGE's fourth full-length album, "Driven", was released in April 2004 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Now Playing: Cinadus' Playlist
Hi everyone, I haven't been able to post on here for a while due to moving into a new place at university which doesn't yet have the internet. I don't have time to head into town to use the net much, but there's always time to listen to music, so for the moment here's my first Now Playing column.
Like many other people it seems, the band I've been listening to the most lately is Nevermore. After buying their latest album and seeing them on their recent European tour, I've been going back and listening to a lot of their stuff and they truly are a great band. The new album, "This Godless Endeavor" is proof that this band still has a lot to offer, and the addition of Steve Smyth to their lineup was, for me, a pleasing decision. He's an excellent guitarist and from what I could gather live he really seems to have fit in well with the band. More...

The band is finishing up writing right now and will head in to record with Zeuss (Throwdown, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall) in February to record the effort, which will hit stores in mid-2006 via Trustkill Records.

Trivium Frontman Wouldn't Throw Anything At Maiden
In the latest issue of Metal Hammer, TRIVIUM's Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu discuss the Ozzfest debacle in San Bernardino which culminated in IRON MAIDEN being pelted with eggs while performing and Sharon Osbourne publicly berating the group's lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, as "a prick."
When TRIVIUM played in Albuquerque following the San Bernardino incident, all the bandmembers wore IRON MAIDEN shirts. It was their way of making a point. "All the bands and all the crews knew what we were trying to say," Heafy stated.
"There were gangs of people from the bands on the second stage [where TRIVIUM also performed] trying to recruit people to throw eggs at MAIDEN. Man, I wouldn't dare throw anything at MAIDEN, not even money. I watched them from right at the front at one show and I did everything, every gesture, that Bruce asked of the crowd. I was too afraid not to. That's how commanding that band are, that's the kind of presence they have. And people want me to throw eggs at them? Fuck off!"
"You should have seen those people down the front throwing shit," added Beaulieu. "It was disgusting. I mean, Kelly Osbourne was there, and she was throwing eggs. Then I read that she said she was in London. She's a fucking liar. She wasn't in London, she was right there throwing shit. She couldn't even take any responsibility for what she'd done."
"And when we wore the MAIDEN shirts in Albuquerque, Big Dave [the PA announcer who yelled 'Ozzy! Ozzy!' over the PA during IRON MAIDEN's intro tape] just walked past us and lowered his eyes," said Heafy. "But we had to do what we had to do. We felt we had to take a stand."
