Blood Red Throne To Release New Album In October
Norwegian death metal veterans Blood Red Throne will release their 10th album, "Imperial Congregation," on October 8th via Nuclear Blast. Today, the band have released a lyric video for vicious new single "Itika." Stream and watch below.
Founding guitarist Daniel Olaisen says of the track:
"Itika was one of the first songs I wrote for this album and it's heavy as fuck. There's some real cool rhythm stuff going on and somewhat futuristic leads. Itika stands out on the album as a more fictional love song. Some necrophile dude, longing to get the sexy corpse, which keeps ignoring him. He wishes he was good enough, or dead enough, to get her in the end."
With over 25 years and 10 albums soon to be under their belt, Blood Red Throne are dedicated to the continual delivery of straight forward, exceptional death metal with Imperial Congregation being no exception. "This time around we’ve made something new and fresh in our sound. We felt it from the very first song that was written; this will take us to a whole different level in terms of arrangements, riffs, vocals... everything. We are super-excited to share this with our fans, and in cooperation with the greatest label ever," says Olaisen.
"Imperial Congregation" delivers quality, old school sound while reflecting in part upon the self righteous nature of humanity and its incessant need to destroy itself through power, ignorance and religion. "We live outside this system," explains Olaisen. "We don’t join in on the sheep mentality. Create your own possibilities, be responsible for your own misery or success!"
The haunting, organic album artwork was designed by the infamous Marcelo Vasco. The image displays a flock of old, religious men as they meet in secrecy to design the laws of lower society. "Many of our lyrics deal with our skepticism of religion, and of mankind in general. Be free or be dead," says Olaisen. "Two gigantic skeletons tower over the men of worship as they dictate human fate by candlelight." More...

Sentinels Releases "Tyrant" Single
Recently signed to Sharptone Records, New Jersey's burgeoning, progressive metal/hardcore band Sentinels has stoked the flames of anticipation today for their forthcoming debut album by releasing a crushing new single called "Tyrant." The band's relentless onslaught continues, following their initial single "Inertia," which will also be featured on the band's first full-length record due out later this year. You can stream the song here.
Drummer Dave Rucki, discusses the track:
"Lyrically, Tyrant is about living under a person of power who uses their position and authority to oppress and dictate, rather than be the leader the people need. It’s personally one of my favorite tracks we’ve ever written as a band. I think this track perfectly captures the type of aggression and intensity we strive for when we play live. Once we heard it mixed and complete with Josh’s vocals, we were all losing our minds. We hope it hits you the same way it hit us, and we look forward to the day we can perform it live for you."
Naraka Shares New Music Video "Mother Of Shadows"
New French extreme metal powerhouse Naraka have unveiled their new single / video 'Mother of Shadows', which features guest vocals and harp from former Cradle of Filth vocalist Lindsay Schoolcraft. This is the band's second single taken from their debut album "In Tenebris," out 8th October via Blood Blast. You can check out the video below.
The band commented on the single: "'Mother of Shadows' is our second single and first music video. Lindsay Schoolcraft (Antiqva, Cradle of Filth) appears as guest in the music video and performed the clean vocals and harp. We are really proud of this collaboration with Lindsay, the song had the atmospheres like some symphonic black metal bands with a powerful production with the mixing of Logan Mader."
Featuring well seasoned players from the French scene, including ex-Dagoba drummer Franky Costanza, Nakara mix modern, death, thrash and black metal with symphonic flourishes. Mixed by Logan Mader (ex-Machine Head), debut album In Tenebris features vocalist Veronica Bordachinni on the track 'Of Blood and Tears' and Lindsay Schoolcraft (Cradle of Filth, Antiqva) on 'Mother of Shadows'. Artwork was created by Seth Siro Anton from Septicflesh. More...

2021 Metal Magic Festival
Yesterday, and for the next two days, perhaps the largest metal festival in the world for the past 16 months is taking place in Fredericia, Denmark. The 2021 Metal Magic Festival features two stages, 28 bands, and hundreds in attendance. All attendees must show proof of being fully vaccinated or a negative Covid test.
The venue is a new one this year, with a much larger indoor stage than either of the two prior locations. The lighting and sound indoors is really spectacular, but the audience members must be seated.
This quick overview will be expanded into a much more thorough review, with dozens of photos, when I have some downtime. For now, I must sleep and then get on to day two of the festival.

Ministry Premiere New Single "Good Trouble"
After incubating for the larger part of 2020 – at a time when creative mastermind Al Jourgensen was able to ruminate on the new world we as a society have found ourselves in – the time has finally come for Ministry to unleash their much-anticipated 15th studio album.
Aptly titled "Moral Hygiene," the album will be released via Nuclear Blast Records on October 1st. With some of Ministry’s strongest and most inspired material to date, the 10 tracks are a follow-up to 2018’s lauded "AmeriKKKant" and put forth Jourgensen’s societal manifesto and plea for civilization to get back to a set of standards that lives up to and embraces our humanity.
"The good thing about literally taking a year off from any social activity or touring is that you really get to sit back and get an overview of things as they are happening, as opposed to being caught up in the moment. And what I saw with how we handled several public crises - from the pandemic to racial injustice to who we vote in to lead our country - is that times are changing, and society needed to change to get away from the idea that has permeated us of take care of yourself, fuck everything else. Now more than ever we need moral hygiene," says Jourgensen of the new album. "It consumed me as I wrote this album. It’s not some pious term. It’s what we have to return to in order to function as the human species on this planet. And I'm proud to have had such great guests on this album to help cement that message like Billy Morrison, Jello Biafra and Arabian Prince."
In conjunction with today’s album announcement, the latest track 'Good Trouble' has also been released. The song, inspired by the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and the activist work of the late US Congressman John Lewis, is accompanied by a new video that includes sampling from last year’s demonstrations in Los Angeles as captured by Jourgensen and his partner Liz Walton.
