"Zero Comfort Margin" features fifteen new songs and was recorded and produced by Steve Austin at his own Austin Enterprise studio. Sound samples and artwork can be viewed at here.
Hailing from France, death/tech/thrash outfit Gorod has signed to Willowtip. Formerly known as Gorgasm (France), the band has changed their name to Gorod to avoid confusion with the U.S. based Gorgasm. The debut full-length from Gorod, "Neurotripsicks," (previously only available in Europe) will be issued in North America with two new tracks and an all new layout on July 12th. Additionally, expect a new full-length from Gorod to be released sometime in 2006. You can preview material from Gorod at the willowtip Myspace page here.
Meanwhile, Willowtip has licensed the new full-length from New York City's The Dying Light for release in North America. Featuring former members of Cattle Press, Dim Mak, Ripping Corpse, and Hemlock, the sophomore album from TDL, titled "The Killing Plan," will be issued on July 26th. "The Killing Plan" was recorded and produced by Eric Rutan at his Mana Recording Studios in Florida.
Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, instrumental gurus Electro Quarterstaff are also a new addition to the Willowtip roster. The band is currently finishing the writing of their full-length which will be recorded later this year. You can check out their website demo material.
Grind outfit Kill The Client are yet another band to be added to the Willowtip roster. The band is currently working on new material that will be released on their debut full-length for Willowtip, expected to be recorded in June. Kill the Client will also be appearing at this year's Mayland Deathfest, Boston Doom and Grind Fest, and on a number of dates with Internal Bleeding and Bodies in the Gears of the Apparatus. For more information and MP3s from the band, check out their website here.
Finally, grindcore band Phobia are another new addition to the Willowtip line-up. With a slew of releases under their belt on many different labels, including Relapse Records, Necropolis Records, Deep Six Records, and more, states Willowip: "Phobia have established themselves as one of the greatest and most respected grindcore bands in the world." The group is currently on a West Coast tour with Rotten Sound and are still writing material for their latest full-length, which will hit streets later this year.
Saturday, April 24th will forever be a day of infamy in my mind. I was witness to some of the worst opening acts to ever grace the stage, but on the brighter side I was witness to one of the greatest 80s trash bands to
ever live - Overkill! On April 24th at the Starland Ballroom I saw Overkill perform. If you ever get the chance to see them live, don't miss it -especially if you love thrash. Overkill combine amazing guitar work, great bass and drums, and top it off with the capability to destroy ear drums with the vocal work of Bobby Blitz. More...

Randy Kennedy of The New York Times has issued the following report:
In Oslo in the summer of 1993, a guitarist named Snorre Ruch [THORNS mastermind] — part of Norway's emergent cult of black metal, extreme heavy metal with overtones of arson and suicide — served as the accomplice to a gruesome murder in which a musician was stabbed more than 20 times in the back and head.
Mr. Ruch drove the murderer from the scene and was later sentenced to eight years in prison, where his worldview apparently did not brighten much. (Sample lyrics from a post-prison album: "Deep down in the black slime of this earth restless limbs are at work/ Deep down beneath the dark tar of this land decrepit lungs crave air.")
So when an up-and-coming New York painter and sculptor named Banks Violette began courting Mr. Ruch by e-mail recently, trying to persuade him to compose music to accompany an artwork, Mr. Violette assumed the guitarist might brush him off, seeing him as an effete black-metal voyeur. Instead, after Mr. Ruch looked at examples of Mr. Violette's work, he replied with completely different reservations about the collaboration.
"I don't know," Mr. Ruch wrote. "You seem like a really dark person."
Sitting in a cavernous studio in Williamsburg recently, Mr. Violette laughed as he related the story.
At 31, with a master's degree in fine arts from Columbia University and the theory-laced vocabulary of a literature professor, Mr. Violette does not seem particularly dark. But behind him in the studio loomed a huge spectral structure that testified at the very least to his abiding fascination with the chaos of the world. It was a 12-foot-tall replica of a church, or more accurately the charred beams and gables left standing after a church had been burned. Instead of wood, however, the entire structure was made from salt, creating an architectural skeleton that at once evokes high Minimalism, gothic creepiness and a kind of ethereal ice-palace beauty.
The whole church, which seems to float atop a mirror-shiny platform of black epoxy, will soon be disassembled and moved to the Whitney Museum of American Art, where it will serve as Mr. Violette's first solo museum exhibition and further evidence of his rapidly rising profile in the art world. The installation, on view beginning May 27, represents an unusual amount of space and attention given to an artist so early in his career, and in a way it could be thought of as Mr. Violette's victory in the Whitney Biennial sweepstakes. A piece of his was included in last year's exhibition, and that work — another meditation on rock and death, using JUDAS PRIEST, Neil Young and Kurt Cobain as raw material — was singled out for praise by several critics. Pieces of his work are now not only in the Whitney's collection, but in those of the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the Saatchi collection in London.

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message I nthe "Forums" section of the band's official web site:
"Well, the weekend is upon us and it is a fabulous sunny day here in San Diego County. I am meeting with director Michael Sarna, who you remember did the 'Of Mice and Men' video, today to BBQ and go over a special project for Gigantour.
"We are discussing the making of a DVD of the entire event for your collection which will include everything from behind the 'metal curtain' of my office, working on the last details of the tour, to pre-production, to rehearsals and the bands all meeting up in Fresno, California, to taking the mighty festival on the road to you.
"It will hopefully feature songs, sound-checks, and other casual stuff that I know as a fan and friend of the bands of Gigantour, I will want to see. I hope you will too.
"There will be loads of stuff still updated and added to the Gigantour site in the days to come, and daily news updates regarding all the bands, so go there and check often!
"I will be announcing the next band for the second stage next week, as well as more confirmed tour dates.
"Lastly, Tuesday I will meet up with John Petrucci [DREAM THEATER] and Jeff Loomis [NEVERMORE] (who I am told once auditioned for MEGADETH, but I thought he was too young and said so?!?!), two amazing guitarist for a photo shoot in NYC. I am looking forward to meeting up with guys for numerous reasons, some of which are to hang out with great talent, but also to thank them for their contribution to this tour, and to this music genre that we all belong to. I also hope to get some tips from them too.
"I will try not to load myself with my favorite pizza in the world, yep, you all know, Ray's Pizza of NYC. And maybe I can meet Annie and some more Droogs again there if time permits. So if all my hard work at the gym has paid off, I should be able to afford to have two bites and a lick of a plain slice.
"I can't wait to see you all on the adventure, and thank you in person."
"I love you all and GOG!"
According to a posting at their website, "MARDUK will be back on the road touring at the end of august. According to the managment Europe will be hit first, followed by South America. The first tour dates will be posted soon." The band were forced to cancel their European tour earlier this year after drummer Emil Dragutinovic's arm was broken in a fight back in February. Marduk are touring in support of their latest album, Plague Angel which was recently as a limited edition digipak version (2500 copies) featuring the video clip for the track 'Steel Inferno'.
LULLACRY's guitarist Sami Vauhkonen has posted the following update:
"I just came back from Astia studio for the last time, considering the upcoming masterpiece. Whooa, I can say that I´ve been waiting this day to happen for a while. Anssi did an amazing job with keyboards and some additional shit. I spent two 15 hour days at Astia and we managed to finish all the stuff we needed, including some lead guitars. I used a stratocaster (Tokai) in the studio for the first time. It was a great experience, even if I was so tired that I almost fell asleep during the recording. Just before Anssi started to record, he asked me if I was awake, haha.
Here are some song titles: 'Perfect Tonight' (yes, if everything was 'alright tonight' on the last album, now it´s all perfect, haha!!), 'Love Lust Desire', 'Stranger In You', 'Killing Time', 'Heart Shaped Scars', 'Soul In Half', 'I Want You', 'Zero', 'King Of Pain', 'Fire Within'.More...

MosNews.com has issued the following report:
SOULFLY, the band led by former SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera, cancelled its concerts in the Russian Far East cities of Vladivostok and Khabarovsk after an incident involving a Russian politician.
The thrash metal group was boarding a plane from Moscow to Vladivostok on April 29 when Valery Kan, a local MP in the city of Ussuriisk, reportedly attempted to take Cavalera's stepdaughter Roxanne to the business class section of the plane, SOULFLY's Russian promoters, FeeLee Management, were quoted by a Vladivostok television company as saying.
He approached Cavalera's wife [manager Gloria Cavalera] and stepdaughter with two bodyguards. Cavalera was already sitting in his seat on the plane with the other musicians. The group's backstage personnel was boarding together with his wife and daughter and tried to intervene but Kan started to threaten them. When the police arrived, Kan showed them his indentity papers, mentioning his immunity as a deputy. The policemen then told the musicians that they were unable to intervene.
SOULFLY decided to cancel its concerts in Vladivostok on April 29 and in Khabarovsk on May 3.
Initial reports suggested that Kan was drunk. When Cavalera's wife attempted to stand up for her daughter, Kan reportedly pushed her away shouting obscenities.
Later, Kan was quoted by a journalist of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper as saying he did not harass Roxanne and accused the group members of offending him. He said he did not shout obscenities or push Cavalera's wife. Kan said he was in the airport with a children's taekwondo team that came home from the championship in Italy, and just wanted to have a conversation with the musicians, but they told him to go away. However, he did not want the journalist to mention his deputy status.
Canadian band Kittie have denied rumours of an imminent split. They are still looking for a bassist and guitarist - and are also without a current record deal - but have plans for a new album.
