Society 1 prepares to make history as frontman Matt "The Lord" Zane finalizes plans for his greatest suspension feat to date, to be performed live on Sunday, June 12 at the UK's massive Download Festival. At 11:50 am on the final day of the festival, in front of tens of thousands of fans, Matt "The Lord" Zane will be pierced with six meathooks and hoisted in the air, suspended only by the hooks in his flesh. He will then proceed to sing an entire set worth of songs with Society 1 -- while suspended. Zane, who set a world record at LA's Key Club in March 2004 by performing the first live suspension by a rock singer, will attempt to smash his previous record by remaining suspended for the duration of 8 songs. Zane's Download suspension marks his first European suspension show. With the massive Download audience on hand to witness this event, it will be the most-watched suspension in history.
Download, the UK¹s premier metal festival, is held at the prestigious Donington Park racetrack, home of the Donington Monsters Of Rock Festivals. This year's three-day event features more than 100 acts including such luminaries as Black Sabbath, System Of A Down, Velvet Revolver, Slipknot, and Slayer.

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the Gigantour.com web site:
"A few days ago, while considering what to do for the first week or so of shows until THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN joins Gigantour, and what my options were at the time when my fantastic 'co-headliners' DREAM THEATER were going to have to depart, I mentioned that I may move someone to Stage 1 from Stage 2. Well, I am no longer considering that.
"You see, I had contemplated having six acts on each stage, but at that length of time and with that amount of talent, each band would have had their set-time cut down, and I would just be having bands on for the sake of having bands on.
"I am not a 'second-guesser' kind of guy, and I am going to stick with five acts per stage, and keep the set times as long as I can with respect to each band and their accomplishments so far.
"Of course, there is sure to be some instances where one act is bigger than another in a different city as opposed to their position on the bill, but the 'goings on' behind the scenes on a touring festival like this is quite laborious and once things are in a groove, it is much easier AND better for the crew working in the trenches everyday to keep it in the groove. You must know that the bands make it 'rock', but the crews make it "roll."
"So, here are the set times for Stage 1:
MEGADETH - Co-headline (90 mins)
DREAM THEATER - Co-headline (90 mins) confirmed through 6/21-9/3/2005
FEAR FACTORY - Special Guests (45 mins) confirmed 6/21-9/11/2005
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN - Guests (30 mins) confirmed 8/2-9/11/2005
NEVERMORE - Guests (30 mins) confirmed 6/21-9/11/2005
LIFE OF AGONY (40 mins) confirmed 6/21-9/11/2005
SYMPHONY X (30 mins) confirmed 6/21-9/11/2005
DRY KILL LOGIC (20 mins) confirmed 6/21-9/11/2005
[last act to be confirmed this week] (20 mins) 6/21-9/11/2005
BOBAFLEX (20 mins) confirmed 6/21-9/11/2005
"Once DREAM THEATER has to leave, I have my short list for the next act to finish out the last week of Gigantour 1 in North America; ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, and OVERKILL are just to name a few. In fact, I left things with Scott Ian and we both agreed, that it would be a perfect time and position for ANTHRAX, as I am sure it would.
"So, for now, I am pretty much done with all of the selecting talent, excluding the announcement of the "new school who does old school" metal band coming up this week. The holiday took precedence over the tour business and I was unable to wrap this up before the weekend, but it will get finished this week.
"I want to wish a great Memorial Day Weekend to the friends here who celebrate it, and to all of my awesomes guests on the roster for Gigantour 1."

According to MTV.com, the fourth mystery producer behind Roadrunner Records' forthcoming "Roadrunner All-Stars" disc — which is expected to contain original tracks that are the product of collaborations between past and present members of the label's roster — has been revealed.
Joining producers/composers Joey Jordison of SLIPKNOT, Dino Cazares of FEAR FACTORY and MACHINE HEAD's Robert Flynn will be Matt Heafy of TRIVIUM.
All four musicians will not only play on the songs they've written, but will assemble a team of artists to record the tracks. In order to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, no musician will play for more than one writer/producer and each song will feature a different vocalist.
The project is being overseen by longtime Roadrunner A&R man Monte Conner. Mixing duties will be handled by legendary hard rock producer Colin Richardson. The album is tentatively scheduled for release in the fall of 2005.
Rammstein will appear at SummerSonic festival in Japan. The festival takes place in Osaka and Tokio. Rammstein will perform August 13 2005 in Osaka and August 14 2005 in Tokio.

VOIVOD drummer Away (a.k.a. Michel Langevin) has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
We are finally done with the writing of the album.
The songs have a bit of an eerie vibe, with experimental vocals by Snake, spiralling solos by Piggy and heaviness courtesy of Jasonic!
All the '80s archives have been transfered to beta and sent to Eclectic DVD for our first DVD release.
I'd like to thank MusiquePlus, Ed Seaman, Jean-Francois Labrecque, Jeff Wagner and Ronald Mc Gregor for their contribution.
I'm still in the process of scanning hundreds of drawings for my book, to be released on Troubleman Unlimited.
All this work will result in a barrage of Voivodian material coming out in the next months.
Thanks again for your patience.
P.S.: In the latest issue of Metal Hammer U.K.: A three-page story about the making of 'Dimension Hatross', by our longtime friend Malcolm Dome. This album was crucial in the sense that Harris Johns, producer/sound experimentalist introduced me to the Akai S-9000 sampler and the Roland Octapad. Suddenly my range of spooky sounds was much wider. Some of these noises can be heard on 'Tribal Convictions' and 'Brain Scan', among others. Piggy also told me that he learned from Harris some very inventive ways to use his own multi-effects processor, which also expanded his possibilities. Much credit goes to Harris Johns for the industrial metal revolution!
