Deathstars Guitarist Issues Status Report

Deathstars guitarist Emil Nödtveidt (a.k.a. Nightmare Industries) has posted the following update on the group's official web site:

We've been busy as hell over here, I moved to Stockholm back in November and it's been chaotic but creative ever since.

Me and Skinny [bass] has opened up a studio called Black Syndicate Studios where we have almost finished recording our new album to be released this fall. Me and Skinny has also got the honor of producing the new Dissection album (The first in 10 years!) so we are doing both albums simultaneously in our studio. For all you fuckers who wanna check the studio out go to www.blacksyndicate.se.

Back to our album, Whiplasher [vocals] will be coming back from his trip to Africa & London tomorrow and we will spend this week recording the last parts of his vocals on the album. Drums, guitars, bass and most of the keyboards are already finished.

The mix will begin in the end of may and be finished mid June and it will once again be done by Mr. Stefan Glaumann.

We'll be back soon with more information on the progress and on the album itself, probably also a few video clips from the recording period, keep your eyes out motherfuckers! Yeah that's it, right here!

In other news, Nightmare and Skinny will be DJing at StockholmRock Revelation on May 21 at Kägelbanan in Stockholm. More information is available at www.stockholmrock.com.

Deathstar's debut album, "Synthetic Generation," was released in November 2003.

The Swedish band, in existence since January 2000, were previously known as Swordmaster and feature in their ranks former Dissection drummer Ole Öhman and guitarist Emil Nödtveidt (brother of Dissection leader Jon). The group's musical style is being described as "powerful industrial metal," and is said to be not a million miles removed from that of Pain, Rammstein and Marilyn Manson.

Accept Posts Tour Report

ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and the group's manager, Gaby Hoffmann (Wolf's wife), have posted several updates from their current European tour on Joe Schlared's Accept Home Page with U.D.O.:

Gaby's latest entry (dated May 1, 2005) reads as follows:

It has been very, very hectic and we had so many interviews and dinners and traveling to do, that there has not been much time — Internet and phone did not work very well in Russia either. But the shows worked so great and the Russian fans have been amazing and we were treated like kings. What a beginning!

Russia has changed so much, that it is hard to believe. Moscow is now like other world cities and has so many cars, that the traffic jams are permanent and it is very difficult to go from one place to another. They have now shopping malls and boutiques like in Berlin or Paris. Of course there are many things different than in the Western world, but they are like a giant who is slowly awakening and it is unimaginable to predict, how this is going to be in 10 or 20 years from now. We were fascinated all the way through and enjoyed the little glimpses of culture we could get. Especially in St. Petersburg, we got a lot of it......

Here is a very sweet and special story: At our first official dinner in St. Petersburg Udo Dirkschneider gave me the beautiful bouquet of red roses — can you imagine? I could not believe, that he would do such a thing, but the band insisted, that Udo stopped the limousine specially to buy the roses for ME! So, people started to talk about that and somehow it ended there, that it was believed that Wolf and I had an anniversary to celebrate - which was true! However, from that minute on, wherever Wolf and I went, we got bouquets, the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen and they filmed and took pictures of Wolf and me and wished us happiness on Russian national TV..... it was so unreal and we could not believe it! In Minsk, when we arrived, camera teams where there and again: flowers for me! We had so much fun - awesome! Who would have ever thought, that we would get such a treatment! Russian hospitality was unbelievable and I guess the girls in Russia are most beautiful, really!

Tomorrow we are on our way back to my beloved America! Can't wait to be home again!!

Check out a bunch of photos from Accept's recent European shows at Schlared.com.

Despised Icon To Support Deicide

The Montreal-based deathcore six-piece Despised Icon recently completed a massive Canadian tour alongside Ion Dissonance this past month in support of The Healing Process, their highly acclaimed new album. The band will make their first appearance in the U.S. at the Maryland Deathfest late May leading them directly into their first national U.S. tour alongside Deicide, Immolation, Skinless and With Passion.

Alex Erian (vocals) checks in with the following report:

We just got back from our Canadian tour and we had a great time with our bros in Ion Dissonance. We pretty much started out at the same time and have also shared numerous bands/projects in the past with those guys, so it was definitely awesome to be able to tour with them for the first time. I guess you could say that we're lucky as hell these days because our first U.S. tour will be with none other than Deicide, Immolation, Skinless and With Passion. I can't wait and you can bet lives will be taken. Cheers to all the cool people we met on the road.

Despised Icon's sophomore release, The Healing Process, was produced by guitarist Yannick St-Amand (Ion Dissonance, Neuraxis), mixed by J-F Dagenais (Misery Index, Kataklysm) and mastered by Alan Douches (Shadows Fall, Dillinger Escape Plan). This album is a relentless slab of sheer aggression matched with impeccable time changes that quickly raises the bar for their peers.

Kiss Star Branded 'An Idiot' By Channel 4 Exec

UK's GIGWISE.com reports: Kiss loony Gene Simmons may have been re-commissioned for the second series of 'Rock School', but not eveybody is enamoured of the face-painted glam-rocker.

The bassist proved a triumphant success on the upcoming television series - which sees him teaching posh classical music students how to raawk. The 13-year-old boffins eventually open a show for Motorhead and a jolly good time is had by all.

Channel 4 were so chuffed with the results they have ordered a second series before the first one has even been broadcast.

But the 'Lick It Up' star (euw! as those American girlies might say,) could be forgiven for turning his nose up - as Channel 4's entertainment boss reportedly remarked, "If I said Simmons wasn't an idiot, I'd be lying."

There'll be tears before bedtime. Let's just hope Gene's wearing waterproof mascara.

Suicide City Announce Long Island Gig

SUICIDE CITY (formerly RODEK), the new band featuring BIOHAZARD guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei and former KITTIE bassist Jennifer Arroyo, will play two shows this Saturday, May 7, at the Club Ritual in Levittown, NY. The first performance is an all-ages show in the afternoon. Doors open at 4:00 p.m. Then SUICIDE CITY takes the stage again for a second 18+ show. Doors for the second show open at 10:00 p.m.

SUICIDE CITY formed in 2004 when five talented and experienced artists, sharing the same passion in music, crossed paths. For the past several years, Billy Graziadei of BIOHAZARD has been producing bands from many different parts of the world. While producing tracks for THE GROOVENICS, their singer, Karl Bernholtz, and Graziadei realized they had many common musical interests. Bernholtz and Graziadei quickly began writing material and soon hooked up with New York-based drummer Dan Lamagna and GROOVENICS/GHOST FIGHT guitarist AJ Marchetta. KITTIE bassist Jennifer Arroyo joined up with the band shortly after, solidifying the SUICIDE CITY lineup. Jennifer has recently left KITTIE to give 100 percent of her time and effort to SUICIDE CITY.

SUICIDE CITY's new EP, "Not My Year", will be available at the show.
