36 CRAZYFISTS are strongly rumored to have landed the opening slot on the upcoming "Weapons of Mass Destruction" tour, featuring headliners MACHINE HEAD with additional support from ARCH ENEMY and GOD FORBID. The trek is tentatively set to kick off on April 28 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
36 CRAZYFISTS' sophomore album, "A Snow Capped Romance", sold 4,094 copies during its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The follow-up to 2002's "Bitterness The Star" was produced by James Wisner, who has worked with such post-hardcore acts as DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL and FURTHER SEEMS FOREVER. Veteran British knob-twiddler Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, SKINLAB, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, ARCH ENEMY, OPETH) mixed the CD at his Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, England. A video for the track "At The End Of August" can be downloaded from the group's official web site: Medium-Speed (25.4 MB), High-Speed (33.9 MB) (Quicktime required).

The following message was posted on SLAVES ON DOPE's official website:
"Due to personal life changes SLAVES ON DOPE have decided to place their career on hiatus for the for-seable future. We'd like to thank our fans, once again, for their incredible support and lasting patience. We've always known that without "you" there is no "us". Fortunately, the current situation has resulted in the birth of a new project called, ALL FOR FAME. Frank, Rob, Kevin, and Montreal new comer Andrew W. wish to invite "you" to possibly join "us" (ALL FOR FAME) on this new ride. More information regarding the A.F.F. street team, contact, shows, pics and music will be available shortly at www.allforfame.com"
Sweden's TAD MOROSE are hard at work practicing for the bands upcoming Scandinavian tour with EDGUY and labelmates NOCTURNAL RITES. Meanwhile, singer Urban breed checks in with the following update, "The video for 'Anubis', is almost finished. It won't be long now, as all that is needed is for me to paint another few textures and we're practically there. We're also working on a medley for our September Atlanta ProgPower V appearance. This because we have so much we want to play and so little time. It will be an all out Andrén-era medley to satisfy the needs of our long time fans." Tad Morose's latest release, Modus Vivendi , was released in the U.S. by Century Media earlier this year.
Dream Theater vocalist JAMES LABRIE talked with Electricbasement.com about the band maintaining heaviness while maturing with family considerations, "(laughs) Well, family and music are separate entities. But you can enjoy both. You have to realize where we’ve gone with our career and our albums. No one album can say where the next will go. We’ve always liked unpredictable risk-taking and always had the freedom to go where we wanted to go. And our fans have come to expect the unexpected.
"That allows us to create what we want to create. With Train of Thought, you’re talking about five guys who, over the years, have been listening to various heavy bands. Whether Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Metallica, Megadeth or Slayer - and Meshuggah being a more contemporary example. And Pantera. I love those guys."

HATEBREED have pulled out of the first two dates of the "Headbanger's Ball Tour" — also featuring DAMAGEPLAN, DROWNING POOL and UNEARTH — following the death of their manager Steve Richards (as reported yesterday). HATEBREED's official message on the matter reads as follows:
"This past Sunday, March 21st, we all lost a very special person, a visionary and a true music guy, Steve Richards, our manager, the founder of No Name Worldwide. He was many things to many people, a soul mate, mentor, leader, confidante, brother, and son. His spirit will continue to inspire the ones he blessed with his amazing passion he had for living life.
"We would not be where we are today if it wasn't for Steve. He helped us when no one else would and we loved him like a brother. May he Rest In Peace.
"Due to this horrible loss, HATEBREED has postponed their appearance on the IMX Show and the first two shows of the 'Headbangers Ball Tour'. HATEBREED will now start the tour this Saturday March. 27th in Winston-Salem, NC."
NOTE: HATEBREED's cancellation will *NOT* affect DAMAGEPLAN, DROWNING POOL and UNEARTH's participation in the first two "Headbanger's Ball Tour" dates.
THE HAUNTED bassist Jonas Björler has posted the following studio report on the band's official web site:
"[Singer Peter] Dolving is almost done with the vocals for the album. He has screamed his way through 12 songs already this past week, and now there are only 3 songs to go. We'll go through the material on Friday to check for possible dubs etc, but everything sounds fine.
"This time around we only recorded 2 guitar tracks — that way we get a very distinctive guitar sound with a little less distortion — not like 'Stained Class' with JUDAS [PRIEST], but you get my drift.
"For the bass tracks I used my new ESP amp and a Warwick bass. It's the best sound I have ever had. Heavy as hell!
"We can also reveal some new titles to add to the ones you already know: 'Abysmal', 'Liquid Burns', 'Drowning' & 'My Shadow'....
"Here you'll find a link to video clip teaser recorded in the studio a couple of days ago. Note that you'll need Flash Player 6 to watch the clip."
Canadian metal band KITTIE have been holed up in the isolation of Longview Farm Studios in Massachusetts for three weeks working on their third full-length album, "Until the End".
"The studio we are recording at is on a farm," said drummer Mercedes Lander. "At night you can hear the horses walking around in the stables, which are located directly underneath us."
Though lacking in nightlife, recording in a secluded area has enabled KITTIE to concentrate fully on the recording process with little distraction from the outside world.
"It's kind of interesting because we have nothing to do but focus on our music," Lander said. "Since we've been here we have left the premises maybe three times in three weeks."
The three-week recording period, though seemingly short for some bands, has been more than adequate for KITTIE to lay down the tracks. "This is the longest we have ever had to record, so there seems to be plenty of time to accomplish exactly what we need to do," said guitarist/vocalist Morgan Lander. "The atmosphere is really laid back, and they have made us all feel right at home here. There is a lot of history behind this place, so we were confident we could endure the horse flies for three weeks."
Bassist Jennifer Arroyo echoes Mercedes Lander's sentiments: "We can completely focus on our music and the smell of horse shit is completely charming!"
"Until the End" is scheduled for a summer release on Artemis Records.
A brand-new FEAR FACTORY track, "Cyberwaste", has been posted online in MP3 format at this location.
"Cyberwaste" comes off the group's upcoming CD, "Archetype", due on April 20 through Liquid 8 Records (parent company of D3 Entertainment). The follow-up to 2001's critically panned "Digimortal" was recorded at Rumbo Recorders in Los Angeles with engineer Ken Marshall (SKINNY PUPPY) and was mixed in Vancouver with Greg Reely (MACHINE HEAD, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DEVILDRIVER). The video for "Cyberwaste", which was shot in early February in Perth, Australia, will be premiered this Saturday, March 27 on MTV2's "Headbanger's Ball".
With regards to the lyrical content of "Cyberwaste", Burton recently told Undercover News, "It is about Internet forums and the people who go on them and talk a bunch of nonsense. It is an angry song and one of the more hard core songs we have written. This song is a statement and I'm sure everyone will get the picture."
