The premium Black metal act from Estonia MANATARK have issued the following update:
"Incredible, unbelievable, but well-deserved and true - Manatark is confirmed as a support act for the legendary Mayhem on their European Tour 2004! Together with DEFILED (Japan) we three will travel 13 countries and give 17 concerts, after that Manatark will be replaced by CADAVER INC. for the rest of the tour. This is a phenomenal step forward for us, and a definite breakthrough! For this great news we are in debt to our own hard work, our label Metal Age Productions."

In a recent announcement from guitarist Blakkheim (also Katatonia, Diabolical Masquerade), Swedish Death metal superband BLOODBATH have enlisted the talents of HYPOCRISY legend Peter Tägtgren to replace the departed Mike Åkerfeldt (Opeth) and WITCHERY drummer Martin "Axe" Axenrot. Here's Blakkheim's statement:
"Here are the official announcements directly from the boiling brew of blood you've been waiting for. The dark grave of ex-vocalist Mike Åkerfeldt has now got a new inhabitant that needs no further introduction - Peter Tägtgren! Furthermore, after analyzing a wide range of drummers, we handpicked Martin "Axe" Axenrot! Widely known for helluva fiercly beats in bands such as Witchery, Satanic Slaughter, Nepehenzy Chaos Order. We're currently in the heat of fire composing the last material to the album and will soon deliver some titles. Until then, let the blood run red.”
Bloodbath are completed by Katatonia/October Tide bassist Jonas Renske and jack-of-all-trades guitarist Dan Swano.
In the wake of SATYRICON drummer Kjetil "Frost" Haraldstad not being allowed into the country because of VISA problems and a criminal past, ex-EMPEROR drummer Trym will be joining the band on their forthcoming US trek with MORBID ANGEL, SUFFOCATION and PREMONITIONS OF WAR.
The Catholic church's lawsuit against ANCIENT CEREMONY founder/vocalist Chris Anderle over a series of "blasphemous" photos posted on the German Black metal band's web site has been given a new court date: May 26 at Landgericht Trier. Lawyers for both parties are currently working towards a possible out-of-court settlement.
The band are said to be "rather pissed off with this soap opera", and are concentrating on finishing up their new mini CD, "P.uritan's B.lasphemy C.all (Ruf-Mord)" . The highly controversial album, which is being observed by the German censorship authorities even before its release, is tentatively scheduled for release in June on Irond Records. A full-scale European tour will follow.

With just three weeks to make an album, KITTIE, producer Steve Thompson, and engineer Ian Hatton retreated to Longview Farm Studios to record an album with a live in-your-face feel.
"Making this record was definitely a challenge because we had three weeks to record an album that should take two months, but nonetheless it has turned out amazing," said Thompson. "The basic tracks on this record were recorded onto two-inch analog tape. We then transferred those tracks onto protocols HD. We did very little digital editing. There were no click tracks used either."
The members of KITTIE embraced the opportunity to record live in the studio as a unit rather than the piecemeal recording process that many producers use. "I loved how we were all able to play all together everyday to record the songs," said bassist Jennifer Arroyo. "I've never been in a situation like that and I think it's the way to go because of the feel you get. I feel it translates onto the track you're recording when you are all in there together."
"It gave us a sense of accomplishment, rather than working with tons of puzzle pieces," said vocalist/guitarist Morgan Lander. "Also, doing things as naturally as possible, using as little digital editing as possible, gives it a raw, real vibe."
The band recorded on a near-12-hour-a-day schedule, taking advantage of all the space the studio offered. "We were able to put the amps on a stage," said Hatton. "That meant that we could quickly switch between guitar setups. We had Jennifer's bass rig set up in a hallway and we had an additional rig set up for distortion in the gym."
Added drummer Mercedes Lander: "Since we had a lot more space to work with, we used a lot of different room sounds to get what we want out of the recording."
KITTIE's "Until the End" will be released this summer on Artemis Records.
SEVENDUST have finalized the track listing for their upcoming acoustic live live CD/DVD, "Southside Double-Wide Acoustic Live", due on May 4 through TVT Records.
Recorded and filmed at The Georgia Theater in Athens, GA, the set contains many of the band's greatest hits, including "Bitch", "Too Close To Hate", "Black", "Xmas Day", "Broken Down", and a cover of the NINE INCH NAILS/JOHNNY CASH classic "Hurt".
"It's just the lighter side of us and a really deeper side," singer Lajon Witherspoon said. “People weren’t used to us scaling it down and doing something like this. But our fans loved it."
The DVD side contains over two hours of live footage and tons of DVD extras. Filmed with eight cameras, it's the best SEVENDUST live show ever made available.
Each copy of "Southside Double-Wide Acoustic Live" will contain 20 collector postcards featuring live shots from the tour, a SEVENDUST branded guitar pick and a 24-page booklet filled with never before seen photos, notes from fans, set lists, tour advertisements and much more. The two-disc set is contained in a stunning cardboard casing surrounding a double jewel case.
"We're about to get out there again to promote our current album 'Seasons', but we wanted to release something new for our fans," Witherspoon said. "In our minds, 'Southside' is a companion piece to our latest album."
Beginning April 8th in Rochester, New York, SEVENDUST's "Seasons" tour will hit over 30 cities within seven weeks and will feature three opening acts: COLD, APARTMENT 26 and ATOMSHIP. SEVENDUST recently finished a vastly sold-out winter tour in support of the band’s fourth album, "Seasons". The band has recently added several dates to the tour, which currently runs through May 16.
