Maryland-based black metallers I.C.E. (IMPERIAL CRYSTALLINE ENTOMBMENT) have inked a four-album deal with Crash Music, Inc. The group will enter the studio later this month to record their debut album, tentatively due in the summer. I.C.E., consisting of Mammoth, Blisserred, IceSickKill and Bleak, have previously released a three-song mini-CD containing the tracks "Astral Frost Invocation", "Apocalyptic Blizzard Regime" and "Behold Thy Frozen Arctic Kingdom".
THERION mainman Christofer Johnsson has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"As you can see in the tour section, we're now in the process of the scheduling of the next world tour. At the moment only the Latin American shows are booked and have a date. This part of the world is the only one were we will tour as a headline act though. We are at this moment looking what options there are for us to go together with other bands in Europe and USA/Canada. In Europe we could tour headline like the last two times, but we feel like we want to get on to something bigger. It's great to play only in front of our own fans, but it is also cool to have a bit of a challenge and play in front of crowds that only partly consist of people that know our albums. We're looking for some cool band that plays music we like and a band that we respect. At the moment we have a suggestion that I particularly like and hope is going to happen. If we can get that to happen it would be a total killer package for you guys in Europe — I'll be telling you as soon as we know (if it happens and then of course with which band it is, it's still a secret).
"In USA/Canada will still have some way to go before it would be a successful idea to play headline, so as this will be our first time over there we simply have to do the same work, as we once did in Europe many years ago and open up for other bigger bands. This is something we look forward a lot to though. THERION is a band that never had anything for free and the success we have always tastes better if we know that we have earned it by hard work and that we are a band that really deserves it.
"We also have a new drummer that's gonna do the touring with us. His name is Petter and he's a pretty unknown talent (except for those well initiated in the Stockholm music life) that used to play in a band called MASTER MASSIVE. We'll give you more news on this topic as time goes by."

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield has told the Edmonton Journal that he's used to being the butt of jokes, one of the consequences of suing Napster and cosmetic companies with lines of "Metallica" perfumes or lipsticks. But Hetfield doesn't always laugh at them — such as Edmonton's METALLICUGH!, a trio who claimed that they were spurred to take on to challenge the San Francisco-based heavy metal giants as a reaction to METALLICA's endless stream of legal actions. As expected, the Canadian rockers received a cease-and-desist order from METALLICA's lawyer and quickly changed the name.
"You know what? We're just defending what's ours," said Hetfield. "People can laugh all they want."
Hetfield also said that he believes METALLICA was given a rough ride over their stance on Napster.
"The fact it was free was what was bothering us," he said. "We could care less if they're downloading, we want convenience. But we wanted to be asked if we wanted to be a part of it. For me, it was stealing and in my book, I was raised that stealing was not OK. We were defending what we thought was right. It was difficult because people were excited about the possibilities. We were, too, but we were fearful of them too — what did it mean to us and our careers? How were we going to feed our kids?
"You know, magazines like Rolling Stone or Forbes print lists of highest-grossing bands and we're always in there. But they never have a column of our expenditures, how much we pay in taxes and all the other stuff. It's really unfair that people think that because of the money you have, you should act differently — stealing is OK because you've got enough. I really don't understand that."
