WHO TV in Des Moines, Iowa is reporting that SLIPKNOT fans traveled from as far off as the Ukraine and Great Britain to attend the filming of the group's new video, which took place Saturday (March 27) in West Des Moines. 500 fans were selected to take part in the shoot, which saw the group performing inside a rented house as it was being "invaded" by "maggots." Check out a KCCI TV video report on the "maggot" auditions at this location.
Commented SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison during the filming: "We wanted to come back and just do a video here with our friends in Iowa and make it more real and this has been a blast so far, we're just getting started."
Lead singer Corey Taylor added: "It's basically gonna looked cramped and wet, a lot of stink and ugly, it rules basically what this band is all about."
Security was on-hand, but there were no reports of any problems at the filming, according to WHO TV.
The "Duality" video shoot was helmed by the directing duo of Mark Klasfeld and Tony Petrossian. The track comes off the band's new album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", due on May 25 through Roadrunner Records. The first song released will be "Pulse of the Maggots", which will be made available for download on the group's web site on Tuesday, March 30. Other tracks on the 13-cut Rick Rubin-produced CD include "Vermillion", "Circle" and "The Blister Exists". A B-side from the recording sessions, "Don't Get Close", plus some instrumental pieces, appear in the Activision video game "MTX: Mototrax".
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, METALLICA will co-host Couzin Ed's WYSP-FM (94.1) show from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday (March 29). Ed flew to Seattle this weekend to tape the show, which airs on one of the top radio stations out of Philadelphia.
METALLICA play Seattle's Key Arena tonight (March 28) and are scheduled to appear at Casper, Wyoming's Casper Events Center on Tuesday (March 30).
The DAMAGEPLAN fan site Damageplanfan.com has uploaded the group's new video, "Save Me", at this location (mpg file, approx 32 MB). The clip was shot in early March with director Christoffer "Salzy" Salzgeber (SOULFLY, HALFORD, SNOT) and is described by DAMAGEPLAN frontman Patrick Lachman as "killer."
DAMAGEPLAN, who made their live debut in Japan late last month (view photos here), kicked off the "Headbanger's Ball Tour" with HATEBREED, DROWNING POOL and UNEARTH on March 25 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Dates are currently scheduled through May 8 in Seattle, Washington.
SATYRICON's participation in the upcoming MORBID ANGEL North American tour appears to be in jeopardy after the group's drummer, 30-year-old Kjetil "Frost" Haraldstad, was recently denied a work visa required for him to work and perform in the U.S., the Norwegian newspaper VG Nett has reported.
As a result, the planned million Norwegian krone commercial/marketing launch (approximately $144,000) of the legendary black metal band could be stopped in its tracks.
"I've been working on the [band's] launch [in the U.S.] and the tour since last June," SATYRICON's Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven, 28, told VG Nett. "Now we were going to reap the rewards of our hard work."
The SATYRICON singer and songwriter is in despair. Time is running out for the band, who, in just three weeks, are due to play their first concert in Orlando together with MORBID ANGEL.
"We have supplied [the immigration officials] with contracts and letters documenting the fact that SATYRICON will be working with well-known partners in the American music industry," Satyr said. "Therefore we're trying to do things in a professional and formal manner. This is not a hobby band going on vacation." More...

Reno Killerich (PANZERCHRIST, VILE, HUMAN ERUPT) is strongly rumored to have landed the session-drummer gig in DIMMU BORGIR for the group's upcoming live appearances. The Danish skinsman, who rehearsed with DIMMU on Friday (March 26), is expected to join the band during Ozzfest 2004 as well as for the preceding European and South American dates, according to informed sources. In addition, it has been revealed that legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DARK ANGEL) has offered his services to the group in the event that DIMMU BORGIR don't find a suitable replacement for Nick Barker, who was unceremoniously "removed" from the band's lineup in January.
Killerich, widely considered to be one of the most skilled speed/grind drummers around, won the title "fastest feet in the world" with more than 800 hits on the pedals in one minute at the NAMM music convention in the U.S., according to published reports.
