As of March 16, 2004, Martin McCarrick (guitar/cello) is no longer a member of THERAPY? and all future recordings and live work will be performed as a trio. "We appreciate that this may come as a surprise to our fans and friends, however the reasons for this decision are purely professional rather than personal," the band said in a statement. "This was far from an easy decision to make as Martin has been an important part of the band for nine years but we feel that this is the best way to ensure a positive future for THERAPY? We wish Martin all the best with his future projects, musically or otherwise."
THERAPY? will kick off a U.K. tour with THE WILDHEARTS in late April. The group have also been working on the material for the follow-up to last year's "High Anxiety", tentatively due in early 2005 through Spitfire Records. Songtitles set to appear on the as-yet-untitled CD include "Polar Bear", "Long Distance", "Here Be Monsters" and "Panic!".
Three short video clips of the reunited death metal legends OBITUARY performing live at last weekend's March Metal Meltdown VI in Irvington, New Jersey have been posted online at this location.
Formed in 1984 as EXECUTIONER (later shortened to XECUTIONER), OBITUARY are widely considered to be one of the most influential and groundbreaking bands in the death metal genre. After releasing several successful albums in the late Eighties/early Nineties (including the classic 1989 debut "Slowly We Rot" and its equally punishing 1990 follow-up, "Cause of Death"), the band announced their breakup, with John Tardy's disinterest in touring apparently a major factor, according to the Internet heavy metal encyclopedia BNR Metal Pages. Trevor Peres has since started CATASTROPHIC, while Donald Tardy joined Andrew W.K.'s band some time ago. OBITUARY are currently working on material for a new studio album, tentatively due later in the year through Roadrunner Records.
MACHINE HEAD and longtime mix-master Colin Richardson have wrapped up production of a brand new track this week, to be included on the upcoming North American release of their new album, "Through The Ashes Of Empires", scheduled to hit stores on April 20. The new song, titled "Seasons Wither", will be added to the new release of the record as Track No. 8, between "Vim" and "All Falls Down", but will not be included on album advances. Guitarist Phil Demmel says: "It's definitely the fastest tune on the disc now, showing off our killer drummer," adding that "the mood of the song blends nicely with the balance of the record... it nestles in naturally."
As previously reported, MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY and GOD FORBID will be hitting the road together this spring for the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" tour, a monster outing that is currently set to attack most major U.S. cities in its path starting this April and continuing on into May.

Swedish thrashers THE HAUNTED have been confirmed as the main support act for FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND on their U.K. headlining tour in May.
FUNERAL frontman Matt Davies commented: "THE HAUNTED are truly ferocious and a definite favorite of ours."
THE HAUNTED have also been added to the lineup of bands performing at the Fury Fest in Nantes, France June 25-27.
As previously reported, THE HAUNTED have spent the past couple of weeks at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden recording their fourth full-length album, tentatively due late summer through an as-yet-undetermined label. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Almost Alive", "99", "Who Will Decide?" (featuring a guest appearance by SICK OF IT ALL singer Lou Koller) and "Burnt To A Shell". Photos taken during the sessions can be viewed at this location.

The Red Chord are said to be headlining the second stage of this year's New England Metal and Hardcore festival on April 30th at the Palladium in Worcester, MA.
IN FLAMES vocalist Anders Fridén has slammed ICED EARTH mainman Jon Schaffer over comments Schaffer made during ICED EARTH's 2002 North American tour, which featured IN FLAMES in the support slot.
"I have fucking little love for a certain guy in that band," Anders Fridén told Sweden's premiere rock/metal magazine Close-Up for its March issue, referring to Shaffer. "I'm not the kind of person who talks shit about people — but this isn't bullshit, for that matter — [or the kind of person to] expose someone [in the press]. We supported ICED EARTH in the U.S. and did amazing well. We got a really great response and [Jon] — the rest of the band were cool — was upset, I guess. It ended with him calling us 'spoiled European pussies,' saying that I was a fucking rock star and a lot of other things. I'm fucking far from being a rock star, so I didn't feel guilty, but it was weird how he could make us out to be 'spoiled European pussies.' There were lot of complaints [from Jon], and our part of the stage was getting smaller and smaller, even though we'd sold out some of the venues before on our own. I could barely stand by the mic stand, that's how tight it was between the drum set and me. Then [I had issues with some of] his statements, which are [very] pro-America, to say the least. He talked shit about Swedes and Europeans in front of us and the other support act JAG PANZER, whose drummer [Rikard Stjernquist] is of Swedish descent. The drummer said 'What are you saying? I'm half Swedish,' to which [Jon] responded, 'Yeah, but you've lived in America for a long time, so we're not talking about you.' I've gotten along with everyone we've toured with, and I didn't think it was [that bad], even though we had differences of opinion, but [Jon] is the only person on this planet that I can't stand."
Norwegian Symphonic Black metal gods DIMMU BORGIR have recruited Asgeir Mickelson (BORKNAGAR, SPIRAL ARCHITECT) as the session drummer for their upcoming live appearances.
Mickelson joins the DIMMU ranks as a temporary replacement for Nick Barker, who was unceremoniously "removed" from the group's lineup in January.
In his first interview since being fired from DIMMU BORGIR, Barker told Blabbermouth.net that the group's decision to let him go came as a "total surprise" to him, with Nick attributing the split to "the distance thing — me being English and those guys being Norwegians. And me commuting from England to Norway all the time. I guess they thought things just weren't working out. I [also] think there might have been a few cultural differences, with me being English and those guys being Norwegians."
DIMMU BORGIR are scheduled to play a few live shows in South America in late April, to be followed by several European festival appearances and a much-anticipated main-stage slot at this year's Ozzfest.
Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society & iTunes have teamed up to offer fans an opportunity to download music from the “Slightly Amped Tour” recorded in 2002 at Westwire Studios in Allentown PA. This tuned downed acoustic, sometimes electric performance is a rarity. This offers Zakk Wylde & Black Label Society fans another side of the band seldom seen or heard.
The new Black Label Society album "Hangover Music Vol. VI" on Spitfire Records will be released on April 20th, 2004 . Hangover Music Vol. VI is an album that will change all preconceptions about Zakk Wylde & Black Label Society. Hangover Music, Vol. VI is an emotionally fueled work of genius, mixed with brilliant piano concertos and guitar solo mastery that has become Zakk Wylde’s signature.
Expect the first single "House Of Doom" to hit airwaves sometime soon.

MORBID ANGEL fans in the UK, Germany and The Netherlands will be pleased to hear that the band’s video for 'Enshrined By Grace' is being unleashed onto TV Networks across Europe.
Filmed in Florida by UK director Pete Bridgewater, 'Enshrined By Grace' once again sees Morbid Angel raising the standards of creative perfection. Based around a modern day take on the Greek myth of Plato's cave, the video features the band playing in the midst of a veritable inferno, and as ever showcases the extraterrestrial talents of Trey Azagthoth.
'Enshrined By Grace' will be added to stations across Europe shortly. Here's a list of the channels it is currently available on and details on how to vote fot the video: More...
The new CANNIBAL CORPSE album, The Wretched Spawn, has entered the German Album Charts at #74. This is a good showing considering that many copies of the album were imported to Germany from abroad due to the more brutal artwork of that version.

According to their official website, MISERY INDEX have split with drummer Matt Byers "after 2 great years together." According to the posting, the band says that "Matt has decided himself to move on and do other things in life, and we respect his decision, metal will miss yet another great drummer. Nevertheless, Misery Index will be moving ahead and today is seeking a replacement immediately, to fulfill upcoming (and developing) tour dates from May through August, as well as someone to eventually become a permanent member. It is also a plus if you have (or can obtain) a passport, touring experience, and no felonies (for the Canadian and other borders). Drummers who have the interest and ability please email: email@example.com.
In other news the video for 'The Great Depression' is nearing completion and will be hitting the air in the near future- til then CHEERS!"
CRADLE OF FILTH bassist Dave Pybus continues his chronicle of the band's current studio activity at the official website. The following is Nymphetamine studio report #4:
"Recording of the last few songs has gone amazing. Playing very tight, as a band in the studio should, making the stand out track on the album well worth the battle to arrange at the end. Regardless of three amps blown up, we can now see light at the end of the tunnel. People here have mentioned more than once the words 'Ghosts', 'Jinx' and... 'Bollocks'. Sounds changing for no reason. Tuning problems. More amp problems. Takes hours sometimes to get things back to where they were before. Keyboards are now starting to go onto the tracks late at night. Martin refuses to play before midnight as he demands a very grim atmosphere in the studio. Reminds him of being 'down the pit'. Simple... but effective. Paul and James have added extra guitars over this weekend. Mapped out parts for the choir which we will record soon (probably in the studio 'cos there's no way they'll let the band in the local church) when Martin completes the scoring, which is quite a big job in itself. Gives the songs such a different direction than just drums, bass and guitars. It's nowhere near equalized on the desk but sounds huge. We always get very excited when Rob turns it up on the big speakers for us to listen back to. Catsfield massive innit!More...
