PRONG guitarist/vocalist Tommy Victor has revealed to RollingStone.com that NINE INCH NAILS mastermind Trent Reznor briefly enlisted him for a side project called TAPEWORM that never materialized.
"Actually, that's one of the reasons I threw in the towel for a while," Victor told the magazine. "I was promised so much by that whole camp — not to sound bitter or anything. I went down to New Orleans and worked on some stuff, but I never heard any finished product. But some of that stuff I worked on appeared on some MARILYN MANSON stuff. I was ripped off — that's happened several times."
PRONG have just issued their sixth studio album, "Scorpio Rising", in the U.S. through Locomotive Music.
Upcoming PRONG tour dates:
Mar. 06 - Pinellas Park, FL - Pinellas Expo Center (Sun N' Steel Festival)
Mar. 13 - Irvington, NJ - Cricket Club (March Metal Meltdown VI)
Mar. 20 - Maplewood, MN - First Avenue (Minnesota Metalfest)
Jane Schuldiner, mother of late DEATH/CONTROL DENIED frontman Chuck Schuldiner, has issued another statement in response to continuing reports that the now-defunct Hammerheart Records (currently operating under the name Karmageddon Media) will be releasing the unfinished sophomore album from CONTROL DENIED this spring.
As previously reported, Chuck, who passed away in December 2001 after a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor, began work on the album (tentatively titled "When Machine and Man Collide") in 2001 but never managed to complete the effort before his health quickly deteriorated in the months leading up to his tragic death. The remaining members of the group — bassist Steve DiGiorgio, vocalist Tim Aymar, guitarist Shannon Hamm, and drummer Richard Christy — subsequently announced their desire to complete the CD and release it in Chuck's memory, but legal hassles between Schuldiner's family and Hammerheart Records (to whom Chuck was signed at the time of his death) put the entire project on hold.
The following is Jane Schuldiner's statement regarding Hammerheart Records' plans to release the incomplete recordings without the family's consent:
"Hello fans/friends, I have read of plans to release, unauthorized, Chuck's raw music on CD. In response to that news let me say that any demo of Chuck's released by Karmageddon will be put on EmptyWords (www.emptywords.org) by the Schuldiner family to download for free."
Embrace Today, Evergreen Terrace, and On Broken Wings will be touring portions of the U.S. and Canada in April and early-May. Here are the latest tour dates: More...
Hellfest is just months away and as you may have heard, the fest will not be taking place in Syracuse, NY, as in years past. This year, the event will take place at the Rexplex in Elizabeth, NJ on July 23rd, 24th, and 25th. The new location was chosen for its convenient location, directly in the heart of the tri-state area, in addition to its proximity to Newark International Airport. Additionally, the new facility has a larger capacity, air-conditioning throughout, soccor fields, basketball courts, and other amenities. It's also safe to say that event coordinators were growing increasingly frustrated with the bureaucratic hassles of hosting the event in Syracuse.
Location aside, Hellfest 2004 will consist of three stages, over 100 bands, a skate contest (the facility has two indoor skateparks), a tattoo convention, and more. And once again, the fest will be documented by Highroller Studios for a DVD release.
Event organizers are currently accepting submissions from bands interested in performing at the fest. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
