Body Count To Collaborate With Ben Moody

BODY COUNT, the metal band fronted by legendary rapper Ice T, are slated to contribute a new song to the upcoming "Resident Evil 2" soundtrack. The as-yet-untitled track will apparently be a collaboration between the group and a seemingly unlikely writing partner — former EVANESCENCE guitarist Ben Moody. "We're going to do a song on the new 'Resident Evil 2', and Ben Moody is going to co-produce the song with me," BODY COUNT guitarist Ernie C revealed in an interview with 411Mania.com. "He's going to write a song with BODY COUNT. It sounds weird, but it's a great hard rock record, so he's writing us on [the] 'Resident Evil' [soundtrack]. I met him, he's a really cool guy, he wants to work with us, so we're going to do 'Resident Evil', and that'll be the first song. And I know that's a big achievement — that'll be a big deal."

In the same interview, Ernie spoke about a possible musical direction for the group's long-awaited follow-up to 1997's "Violent Demise: The Last Days", tentatively due next year through an as-yet-undetermined label. "It probably will be a little heavier and a little darker," he said. "We want to do things like work with the detuned guitars and the sludgy sound. We want to make it a little grindy. I know something I want to do, personally, is put some more guitar solos in there. That's something that's missing from a lot of hard rock and metal nowadays. You have some great players, but a lot of them do just rhythm, and they're great at it, but no one really does solos anymore. People don't understand that that's how a guitar player expresses himself. Those are his emotions coming out of that, and it's been missing. So I think I want to bring the old feeling of guitar playing back and combine it with the newer, heavier style."

Slipknot Post Song Title To Be Released March 30th

SLIPKNOT will release the track "Duality" as the first single from their as-yet-untitled new album, due out on May 25 through Roadrunner Records. The song will impact radio stations on May 4.

In other news, SLIPKNOT's track "Don't Get Close", which appears in the recently released Activision game "MTX: Motocross", will NOT be appearing on the upcoming album in any form, according to Roadrunner Records. "Seems that SLIPKNOT and producer Rick Rubin have a little problem in that there's too much great shit to choose from, and only so much material they can fit on the new CD," reads a post on Roadrunner's web site.

As previously reported, SLIPKNOT will make the first song off their forthcoming album available for download via their official web site, www.slipknot1.com, on March 30. No further details are currently available. The band are currently preparing to hit the road as part of the fourth installment of the Jägermeister Music Tour, beginning March 30 in Orlando, Florida. FEAR FACTORY and CHIMAIRA are also onboard for the five-week trek, which wraps up May 4 in Denver.

Diecast Finish Up Recording New Album

The Boston-based dynamic metalcore quintet DIECAST have completed the recording process for their new album, "Tearing Down Your Blue Skies", set for a summer release through Century Media Records. This is the group's first effort since their acclaimed debut full-length, "Day of Reckoning", released over three years ago.

Commented bassist Jeremy,

"I guess the first thing to say is that we're back and better than ever. Our absence from playing shows does not mean that we were not writing. In fact it turns out to be quite the opposite. It has given us time to create the most dynamic and talented songs we have ever written. We have spent almost two years on this material and made sure that every song was as strong and interesting as the next. Our new singer, Paul Stoddard, has allowed us to try things that we could never have imagined in the past. His voice is so dynamic he can go from a clean singing part to melodic screaming, all the way to death metal screams in the same song. We tried to make each song have a different feel and have written some of our heaviest material and also some of our most melodic. With our new singer and Century Media behind us I think this record will more than please all our loyal fans we've gained over the years as well as open us up to a whole new audience. We had a chance to play two shows with Paul before we hit the studio and they were completely insane. It was as if we had never taken time off with kids all over the stage singing along and people destroying each other in the pit. We would like to thank all our patient fans for waiting so long and we promise you will not be disappointed. We will be touring nonstop when the record hits so be prepared."

DIECAST will perform at the renowned New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in front of their hometown crowd on Saturday, May 1

Bloodbath Enter The Studio, Line-Up Changes

BLOODBATH, the band featuring Mikael Åkerfeldt (OPETH), Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström and Jonas Renkse from KATATONIA, Dan Swanö (Nightingale, EDGE OF SANITY) have issued the following message through the Forum section of their official website:

"Hey metallerz!!

First of all, hope you're pleased with a new and individual forum for Bloodbath. It was the right time to make one 'cuz the band is BAKK!!!

Yeah, we're currently fueling up for another lap in the death metal lane as the band has now begun writing the material for the follow-up to Resurrection Through Carnage with the studio being booked for late spring.

Now, there has been some relevant changes in the line-up. Vocalist Mike Åkerfeldt has been kicked out and a replacement is already found in one of the biggest names in the scene. Furthermore, drummer Dan Swanö has decided to step off at the death metal depot to switch instruments and is now sharing guitar duties with me. Taking over the drums, is yet another big big name. Jonas Renkse is still keepin the decay and pulse behind the bass and is leading the race of gathering pile after pile with sick and dark lyrics.

As for the new members, their secret names will be revealed soon. A monster album is promised!!!”
